I felt almost as if I was on an amusement park ride the way the seats moved and jerked into action along with the movie scenes. I was startled a couple times by the water mists and ticking air gusts at my feet. The ticket pricing and snack fees were probably not something I'd spend my own money on without a gift card because they were pretty pricey. We hadn't watched a movie here for a very long time. We used to be regulars here when we had the movie pass. We very pretty disappointed by the number of ads they showed. For a 1:30 pm movie, we were here around 1:20 pm. We expected some ads and some trailers. However, ads were playing until 2 pm. Watching 30 minutes of ads really bugged us a lot. Then 10 mins of trailers. Total time wasted almost an hour. Very frustrated by the time the movie started. Concessions are expensive as well. read more

I have come to watch movies here a few times and enjoyed my visits. You can purchase your tickets online or in person. For popular movies and showtimes, I'd recommend buying them in advance via the app to guarantee your seating. Be forewarned, there is a surcharge to buy in advance. If you are a Regal Crown Club member, you can accrue points for tickets and concession purchases. A newer feature is ordering your concessions via the app in advance to allow for minimum waiting. There is a limited number of people working here but they keep the bathrooms and theaters clean. The employees range in outgoing personalities to the employee that hates their job type. Of course the food here is overpriced and is hit or miss but if you time it just right, you can snag freshly popped popcorn and not wonder if it's from last night. The parking situation requires you to be lucky enough to find street parking or a nearby garage or perhaps using the metro to get there. I've been fortunate where I can attend the movies without a lot of distractions going on. Now you already know, someone is gonna sneak into the theater. They normally find the nearest empty seat and it's not disruptive. I would frequent this business again. read more

This was my first time experiencing a 4DX movie. I was in town for a music festival and decided to go see Deadpool & Wolverine at this theater. After first walking in, I loved how cool it looked inside and how big the building was, you have to take the escalator upstairs to get to the theater area. The experience was definitely worth the price to me, throughout the movie the seat moved like a rollercoaster basically, we could feel air blowing like wind, and water sprayed on us during the blood splatter scenes; all aspects matched what was happening in the movie. I've only visited once so far, but it was perfectly fine for me. Great selection of movies. The concessions was busy on a Friday evening, but the lines moved efficiently. Workers were friendly. We went here for the movie Mufasa in 4DX, and it was very enjoyable. I already had the regal cinemas app on my phone which allows me to get free stuff. So we was able to get popcorn with free refills. The theater overall is nice, my only issue is once you get there and have to wait before they finish cleaning out the theater; They have nowhere for you to sit, but that's no biggie. But only Regal theaters have 4DX, and if you don't know the difference: 4DX allow you to experience the movie in: 1 - In 3D wit' glasses 2 - The chairs move 3- If the wind is blowing in the movie, You'll feel air blown on you. 4 - You'll also feel water (only like a mist) 5 - You will also enjoy smells, like if their going through the woods with pine trees, then you'll smell pine. So if that sounds interesting, then check'em out and have fun !!!!!! read more

The reclining chair was very comfortable despite it settling into a slightly strange angle that I was finally able to find the right position for but it alone does not merit the massively inflated price tags to see even a matinee showing here. $19 ticket and whack food options that too are highly inflated on price point. I got a small popcorn with a big price tag. The only way I'd come back here is with a free ticket and some outside food in my bag. read more

This is a tricky review. We went to the 4D theater to see Red One. The 4D experience was excellent. It was better than other 4D theaters I've visited. The seats are comfortable, and the motion is strong. The staff were all great. Very helpful and patient. I was there with teenagers, so it took forever to order. We ordered two pizzas and it took about 15 minutes for them to be ready which wasn't ideal. I don't know if that was a fluke or not. The Italian cheese sticks could use a little more flavor. The only reason I can't give them a 4 is because we saw a rat in the theater. I know it's rough in the city, but it's still gross. read more

First time seeing a 4d movie and I spent $30/ticket. I didn't realize why it was so expensive until I went. It was so much fun and felt like an amusement park experience. It really was awesome and I can't wait to go again. But their cheese pizza was the worst food I've ever eaten. I don't know how they made it with zero flavor. Actually the box probably would've tasted better than the pizza. I hadn't eaten that day and thought I'd order something heartier than popcorn. Never again. I don't know if it is all of them but some of their theaters don't have air conditioning, making you feel like a rotisserie chicken. 4dx movies- the only one I've found in our area. Always busy and sticky. Popcorn was burnt and they flipped it straight into the remaining popcorn to serve . Nachos weren't served with individual small bags of chips - because they were running low and busy , they decided to open bags and pour such a small amount into the nacho box. WTH. ‍ I had to speak up. Definitely need someone to ring up and someone to grab orders and someone actively stocking . Service is always with a smile and bathrooms aren't bad. So will return. We see movies here from time to time because it is so convenient by Metro from our home in Adams Morgan, but it is unpleasant in other ways. First, the desk where you get your tickets doubles as the refreshment stand, and the signage is all about the refreshments with NO information about the movies. The seats are comfortable for me but less so for my wife, who prefers to sit up straight but when she does so her feet are off the floor; and she finds that the puffed-out head rest pushes her head down. When seeing Dune 2 yesterday, we had to endure THIRTY MINUTES of commercials, including one horrifying or violent (or both) previews after another. Yuck read more

The last I heard, Regal Gallery Place was closing after its parent company filed for bankruptcy (~Jan 2023). Well, Regal Gallery Place is still kicking and apparently a new deal has been worked out. However, its new lease on life is not very apparent and my latest visit was very chaotic. When I entered into Gallery Place on a Wednesday evening, a little after 6pm, the lobby area was practically a ghost town. The box office on the ground floor was dark; it looked like it had been closed for a while and that the movie theater actually DID go out of business. There also used to be ticket kiosks on the ground level, but these have since been removed. If I didn't look at the movie showings to know that Regal Gallery Place was still open for business, I would've thought the theater had been abandoned. Once I took the escalators to the top floor, the chaos ensued. The guest services booth was empty, and two self-serve ticket kiosks were hiding near the elevators. Unfortunately, they were both out of commission- one of them displayed a printing error and the other was in the middle of initializing a long software update. With nobody at guest services to assist customers, I approached the movie usher who was scanning tickets and asked where to purchase movie tickets. He pointed me to the concession stand, where long lines abounded. If this is the new norm, signage would be helpful. This concession stand needs a lesson in operations management. The lines were not run efficiently - the person manning the register is the same person that fulfills your order (and between touching the screens, filling the drinks, and scooping the popcorn, I really question the cleanliness of it all). Concession workers had no sense of urgency (which I would think is needed for a schedule-driven industry), so if you need to buy tickets or concessions before your showtime, build in some buffer time and arrive early. Most people these days buy tickets online in advance anyways, but I was trying to avoid the extra service/convenience fees - it's worth paying the extra fees. I waited in line for 20 minutes and nearly missed the start of the movie. They also do a bag check before entering the theater; no outside food/drink allowed. The theater itself was relatively clean. No issues with sound or technology. The seats were the comfy recliners. At the end of the movie, staff was already standing by, ready to clean the theater for the next showing. While I generally prefer Regal to AMC, this location is giving me doubts. Other than the metro convenient location in DC, this theater offers little incentive for me to return. read more

4D experience for Guardians of the Galaxy was memorable. It was my first time having physical effects which was not limited to vibration, motion, wind, smoke, wind, strobe lights, and etc. If you can't make it to the ride in Disney World, I guess this is the next best thing. Tickets can be pricey, but if it's a movie your looking forward to might as well treat yourself:) I'm going to be honest. I did laugh when the seats were in motion almost thrusting left, right, and forward during the spaceship scenes. It Reminded me of being on a rollercoaster. But, then during the fighting scenes, the physical effects of it on my back and butt started to become uncomfortable. There was a lot of punching, that I literally had to ice my behind the next day due to it being sore. The wind was nice, but I think they ran out of the water effect. All I felt during the water scene was nothing and a sucking sound. Thank god, I ate my popcorn before the movie started, because with all the movement it would've flown all over the place lol. Overall, I would do it again with a movie that didn't involve too much fighting:) read more

We came here this weekend to wat h Mission Impossible on 4DX. If it was not for the 4DX, I would not have come to this location. Luckily, we came on Sunday, so Street parking was free. We all parked on the street and walked to the regal. Tickets were already bought ahead of time, so be sure to do that. The food situation was interesting. The staff were busy talking more and not moving at a pace where people's orders were coming out fast enough. Pretty decent movie theater; it wasn't the best theater, but it wasn't the worst that I've visited. Overall, I thought the theater (especially the bathrooms) were pretty clean. The service wasn't as friendly as I would have liked, but I will attribute this to the staff having to work on Christmas Day. I will say that I thought the reclining seats were quite comfortable. Also, the sound quality (for the most part) was pretty on point, but I sometimes think this depends on where you sit in the theater. The prices for food and beverages were pretty much on par with any other movie theater in a major metropolitan city (ie be prepared to drop some cash), so no real complaints on my end about this. While this didn't happen to us, there was a lot of confusion over reserved seats. I'm not sure if tickets were oversold or if folks just weren't paying attention to the seat assignments. read more

This was my first visit to any movie theater here in the DMV. It is a nice movie theater at a convenient location. I was invited to an Advanced Screening to the movie SMILE which was a bit of a creepy film. So, definitely kept you engaged and on edge. The seats were nice with leather reclining seats. I'm not sure why this venue sometimes gets a bad rep as it is very convenient to the Metro and Chinatown and is actually fairly nice for a theater in a downtown area. It's not typically overly crowded, and they have modern/adjustable seating in the theatres as well as 4DX and other experiences. Certainly, if you are worried about availability, then you can prepurchase your tickets/select your seat online or in the app, as with any Regal. There were musings of the theater closing last year or so but that is no longer an issue. Overall, it's not luxe or anything like that but it's reliable and convenient and there are ample dining options in the immediate area to allow for a meal and movie date. read more

I will preface this review by saying I did go on $3 movie day, so maybe it's not always this chaotic. First things first, the bathrooms are the most disgusting thing I have ever seen in my whole entire life (like worse than porta potties at concerts) -- almost half of them were clogged, a few others had no toilet paper and the whole room stunk. Secondly, the lines for snacks were crazy long and inefficient. They were out of both Diet Coke & Coke Zero, and were only serving popcorn and candy. The popcorn even tasted a little weird. Third, the line to get into the theater was ridiculous-- how hard is it to scan a ticket? Why was there only one attendant? This is absolutely NOT the workers' faults, it's management. If you know you have a high volume day, why wouldn't you have more people come in (and be properly compensated for it!). The only plus side was the seats were comfy. That was literally it. read more

Pro tip there is a garage underneath the movie theater that we found out you can park in and get a Validation for up to three hours for free. I've been going to the Regal Gallery Place for years. For me, it's the most conveniently located theater in DC, it has a good movie selection, and the prices are okay. I almost never order concessions so no opinion there. The facilities are okay but need better maintenance. I've been in a few screenings where the lights didn't fully dim (Shang Chi last year, Top Gun Maverick recently) and/or the air conditioning stops working. The bathrooms also need to be renovated. If they fix up the facilities I would give it 4 stars. You used to be able to buy tickets from automated kiosks and a kiosk on the first floor, but now they force you to use the app or buy tickets at the concessions booth. I don't want to wait in the concessions line so this basically forces me to use the app and pay the surcharge. read more

Super comfy reclining chairs! I bought tickets online and came in to see 1917. The theatre (#2) was on the small side with rows A-G and varying seat numbers per row. We sat in row F and felt like we had a good view of the screen. The picture was clear and the sound was loud, but not obnoxiously so. The loudest thing in the entire theatre was everyone's mechanized chairs, which they only seemed to adjust only during the quietest parts of the movie.
