My biggest gripe with Regal Gallery Place is the boneheaded decision its management made a few weeks ago to move the ticket office from ground level to the concession area. I don't care at all for having to bide my time waiting in the concession area only to have to make clear to the employee my wish for a ticket. Regal Gallery Place should have set up CLEARLY DESIGNATED zones (2 at most would have been sufficient) within the concession area under the heading "TICKETS ONLY." That would have made a lot more sense. (I hope someone from the Regal Gallery staff is reading this review and will perhaps take up with the management the suggestion I offer here for "Tickets Only" zones within the concession area.) read more

Will avoid this movie theatre in the future. The 5 ticket machines are all broken, the sales booth was unmanned, the only way to buy tickets is to get in the concession line. A 20 minute wait. When you ask the employees they all tell you they just work here, they neither know or are responsible for anything. I was here yesterday and basically the same thing, one ticket machine was functional, no one at the booth. The employees do suggest to buy the tickets online, while in line. Came here to see the new Mission Impossible movie. Nice theatre and love the comfy chairs. Came on a Thursday so not a big crowd. I didn't like the service at the concessions. One girl trying to serve a lot of people with minimal help. Need 2-3 people helping customers so people can get to their movie quickly. read more

My wife and I pre-ordered tickets for Avengers: Infinity War after finding availability for the date/time we wanted using the Regal app. This was our first visit to this theater and found it to be a good experience. We took the metro and walked a block to find it hidden inside the mall area. No issues getting our tickets and had time to spare so tried the pretzel bites and a soda for no small price of course. The theater was spacious with reclining seats and aisles that a person could pass without causing others to adjust. We didn't have to worry about waiting in long lines as they seemed to have sufficient employees available to handle the customers. We would return to watch another movie here. read more

It's a pretty good Regal mainly for it being so centrally located, being built into the Gallery Place complex and barely a minute from the metro. It does take a few escalator rides up to the top floor where the theater itself is at but they fit a surprising number of theaters into that space. The theater itself didn't feel crammed at all, with the facilities being comfortable and spacious and particularly given the high density location. It does feel like it may need some updating but overall wasn't bad, particularly given how centrally located in the heart of DC it is. read more

Lol well well well I've been coming here since my teens. In the last few years ive come maybe 3-5x. They've done some renovation & actually serve alcohol which is cool. They even have a 4D theatre which is really cool. I still would come here but they dont clean the theaters after each movie consistently. Came in & there was popcorn & drinks left from the movie before on the floor which attracted mice!! Yes mice ppl!! It was nice to see that people still watch movies on the theaters. Since our entertainment changed about 20 years ago (did someone said the sopranos changed things?) I know people don't go to cinemas as often. But there is something about watching a movie at the theater. First, the distraction of the smartphones is gone. I mean who will go to watch a movie and play with phones? Second, the huge screen has an influence. You see movies differently. Few things: they need to make things move faster. Worst customer service at the snack bar. Employee Kelah had NO customer service! Regal should be embarrassed by employing such an inconsiderate, rude, and obnoxious person. When it was my turn, he sad "What do you want?" With much negative attitude. My gift card had $20., however there was a computer issue in processing the transaction. Kelah's co worker was MOST HELPFUL. However Kelah yelled at me to give him the cash. He practically threw my change at me. Also there was a a lot of water on the floor at the cash register. Not sure what all of the bad reviews are about but I've never had a bad experience here. The security and check in staff are friendly, the facilities are clean, and the seating is comfy. The sound is also not eardrum-numbingly loud as it is in some other theatres. read more

Regal, especially at Gallery Place, would not be my first choice, or even third choice, for a cinema. This will sound bougie, and that's fine, but I prefer places like Angelika or Landmark or Arlington Drafthouse. Places with adult beverages, nice seating, and good food. However, my all-time favorite movie, Breakfast at Tiffany's, was being shown in theaters as a special, so I had to see it on the big screen. I went to a weekday matinee, and the theater was fine. Staff was friendly, and it was not plagued by teenagers, as it has been when I've gone at night. And this location is fine--it's clean and well-maintained. Went to see the new Avengers movie in 4DX and was greeted with such hostility that I'm not sure I'll ever go back. I didn't know there was a free showcase of the movie going on and as I walked toward the wrong theatre was I stopped very rudely by a bigger gentlemen in a chair guarding the theatre. He shouted me out before I could say a word and accused me of trying to sneak in while pointing at the security guard. He then forced me to go to the back of the line of the free showcase line even though I had paid for a ticket. I then walked off to the side to talk to my friend and I could see the man go to the security guard and point at me while talking to him like I was some sort of criminal. I nearly missed my movie because of this. All of this could of been cleared up if he allowed me to ask a few questions and find out I was in the wrong theatre. Another issue I had with this theatre is that I had purchased a ticket weeks in advance for a 5pm showing and had planned for it but only found out as I arrived at the theatre that it was changed to 6pm. There was an email sent earlier in the week about the time change but I didn't see it but I shouldn't have to constantly check my email to know if my movie time changed. my movie time shouldn't have changed at all. So having to pay for an extra hour parking and the added inconvenience of plans being changed was another let down even though, I guess, it was my fault for not checking my email. There was also an issue with an audible noise coming from the ceiling that was very distracting during the more quieter scenes in the movie. All of these issues left a really bad first impression of 4DX and it being the only Regal 4DX theatre in my area is very disappointing read more

This was the movie theater closest to BF's dad's apartment, so we chose this spot to watch Thor: Ragnorok. We arrived about 20 minutes before the movie and were able to print tickets at the kiosk. Getting in was super quick and there are more than enough bathrooms to go around. The theater was clean and we had a good time. My only gripe was the concessions, where the cashier just seemed standoffish and like he didn't want to be there - not super friendly at all. Love the upgrades to this theater! They offer movies in 4D and I plan to check that out one day. Been coming here since back in the day and it's always been a popular theater. There are nearby restaurants/bars and this is one of few theaters in the area that has been metro accessible. I generally come here for advanced screenings and you definitely gotta get here early for those. If the screening is at 7 and you get in the line at 6, just know you're late and will probably be sitting in the first two rows (not how I enjoy watching movies). read more

So I usually come to this venue a lot for it is convenient to my place of employment and my living corridors. This location is suppose to get upgrades to King size recliner chairs and that should be good. They have regular movie prices however, I'm sure that when they implement new seating prices will go up. On the 1st floor they have the box office. Typically lines are long. So head to the self kiosk closest to smoothie king or the kiosk upstairs on the 3rd floor near management services. One stand out star is this older lady whom takes the tickets...she is sooo pleasant and she calls nearly everybody a "young person". She really should get a raise because it's the small things. The other employees...are such a drag...don't bother. They are young millennials and they are just there to get paid the above average minimum wage that dc has to offer. They do offer free garage parking up to 3 hrs which is amazing. I will say that if you come during the wrong event you'll be forced to park on the ramp and not an actual parking spot. But, that's not regals doing. I will say I come here mainly for Free Advance Movie screenings and I've brought this to the attention of two different...well actually three different managers and just be prepared for ppl to buss in front of you. Typically lines start before 4:30pm. So if the movie starts at 7pm or 7:30pm get there before 5:15pm for premium seats. Beware that typically the premium rows are reserved for organizations and/or members of the press. So is it Hunger Games?! Yes! Should you still go?! Yes! It's great to have a multiplex in the heart of a big city. This theater fills the need quite well. It's modern, with stadium seating and comfy rocking seats. This theater has really gone downhill in the past couple of years. I watch movies here only because it is walking distance from my place. Pros: 1. Prime location near bars, restaurants and other interesting/fun venues. Cons: 1. The people that come here talk throughout the movie. I'm really not sure why at this particular location but it happens 75% of the time and is really disruptive. 2. Uncomfortable seats, stadium seating but the chairs are upright and stiff. 3. I'm giving this place 5 stars, not because there's anything that really stands out from other chains. Granted, the sound system is good, the theaters are large but you can find a lot of places like that. The concessions are the same as you'll find at other theaters in this chain. What set it apart was this: I was watching a movie with a friend of mine and a few rows ahead of me there were some people who clearly didn't want to be there. Checking their phones-not even that half-douche move where they type a quick text message quickly and put it away. I'm talking full-on Twitter checking, taking photos and then posting it on Instagram, stuff that will land you in the special place in hell. I ended up asking an usher cleaning up and let her know about the situation. She quickly went to the offenders and warned them. A couple next to me must have been just as annoyed and must have done the same thing because the next thing I know, the offending party was gone. I don't think I've been to one theater that does that except this one. read more

I would give this theatre 0 stars if I could. The customer service is below subpar and anything but helpful. I could understand the low level of service from ordinary staff, but after talking to the manager it was clear to me that poor service comes from the top. They do not show any value for their customers and it is obvious that they do not understand customer loyalty. (I go to Regal often and am a rewards member. Even when I am traveling this is my preferred theater brand. I was considering signing up for their unlimited plan, but after this experience am seriously reconsidering it.) Everywhere else in the country when you ask for condiments or an extra container for popcorn they give it to you. Or help you find solutions. Not tell you to go and hunt for the ketchup around the corner, but they think that it might be all gone. However, there is more in the back, but they aren't able to leave their position to get some from the back, even though there are 5 other people standing around doing nothing, nor are they able to call on another staff member or manager to go and get it. Then all the manager can say as to why they are not able to help you because it will mess up their inventory and that is why they can't get things for you. This is the level of ridiculousness after they messed your order up and overcharged you and couldn't figure out why it kept coming out wrong. It became apparent to me quickly that the staff all the way up to the manager was uninterested in helping anyone and could only quote me policy that seems to only exist at this theatre. Because again, any other Regal theatre that I've been to the staff is more than helpful and I've had no problems with. Dear Regal Theaters/Corporate --- please find a manager for this theatre who is able to problem solve and believes in customer service and can think beyond everyday "policy". It is clear to me that the policies in place at this theatre aren't real policies, but exist because the staff and management are not capable of high level thinking and can only follow simplistic directions that someone seems to be drilling into them where they sound like automated robot drones. In fact, if this is the kind of service you want to provide, you might as well just replace your staff and automate the experience like McDonald's has begun to do this. read more

Saw Due Date here with a bunch of Yelpers; it was nice to meet Danesh and his wife, and recruit Amer for flag football the next day. Ticket machine lines were pretty quick since most people had preordered on Fandango. Rounding up for location convenience even if the layout sucks. I've seen concert venues with less thorough customer screening. Kat was so happy to get her white cherry Icee, and my red cherry was equally satisfying thanks to Hilvic. Ol' Yella properly policed my waterworks. Popcorn was easy on the salt/butter, which is nice for not having shriveled lips by the end of the movie. I was amused when they cued up a suit to stand in the middle of the theatre to stifle the booing immediately when they found out they had to reboot the projector or whatever. The machines to buy a ticket don't work, so you have to go to the concession stand to buy one, and if it's really crowded, you might have to wait twenty to thirty minutes just to buy a ticket, which is ridiculous. The best thing about this place is the large, cushy seats. The backs are high enough for you to rest your head while you sit back. Real nice. The place is clean, screens and sound system are solid, and the location is perfect, right in the middle of Chinatown. But that means it gets super busy. Trying to see Gone Girl and Inside Out here, and multiple shows were sold out. Both times we had to get tickets 2 hours later. Learn from my repeated mistake and buy tickets in advance. And show up early to get a seat. When seeing comedies, there tends to be a disproportionately huge number of annoyingly whooping, talking, and texting teens. Get off my lawn. Also, come prepared - there is no bar here. C'mon people, get with it. In these progressive times, people should not have to choose between alcohol and entertainment. read more

This review is for my experience watching The Lego Movie. Normally I hate this theater as it gets hood quickly, but guess what?? EVERYTHING WAS AWESOME!! Heheheheheheheheeh, Lego movie was hilarious, and this turned out to be one of my favorite experiences at this theater. Great Regal theater! I've been trying to get to this theater since I first moved to this area. I finally made it out on a Sunday afternoon. Parking: I didn't know whether it would be best to Metro in or drive. Both options are pretty easy. Nearly all metro lines lead to Gallery place. Theater is right down the street from the Metro station. AND there is a garage you can park in and Regal validates 3 hours of parking! Garage is located on 6th Street and has elevators that take you right to the theater. FYI parking ticket is validated by the ticket taker so be sure to take it with you if the million and one signs don't remind you :) Theater was very clean and staff was friendly. Fandango gave me a $5 concession coupon and the employees honored it even though they had issues entering it into the system. Seats were ok... When you get used to a recliner it's hard to go back. Arm rests lift so it will be a comfy experience for all. Temperature was perfect. Fellow movie goers were great as well. I experienced no excessive talking at all. Digital and sound quality was amazing as expected. Restrooms were clean and had plenty of soap and supplies. Thanks for a 5star experience! read more

Second time at this theater. First time, the movie was blurry and they restarted the movie before everyone got back into the theater after bringing it to management's attention. We were refunded and comped free tickets. I appreciate that. Second time, we purchased tickets for a independent documentary (and company) and they play the wrong movie with the same title. I would not recommend this theater if only because the logistics have been off both times I've been at two different times in the day. Gallery Place Regal Cinema is one of the best places to see a movie downtown. It has a great location in the heart of Chinatown, which consists of about four square blocks. The theater is a quick 3 minute walk from the Chinatown/Gallery Place metro stop. The path from buying your ticket to sitting in your seat is different from your typical movie theater. The ticket office is on the ground floor, while the snack bar and the actual theaters are an escalator ride to the third floor. For large cities like DC, this setup is not that unusual. I found similar layouts in theaters in Boston and London. I think this layout prevents everyone from getting crowded on one floor. The theaters themselves feature the usual amenities like stadium seating, cup holders, and endless commericals before the previews. This theater gets extra points for the multitude of nearby dining and drinking options after you are finished with the movie. read more

Oh Gallery Place how I don't like thee. The lack of good restaurants, multitude of crowds and overall meh venues means that I typically avoid going here. Unfortunately, it also houses the only movie theater in central D.C. (sorry for those of you in Georgetown/DuPont who think those areas are "central"). The Regal occupies the upper levels of Gallery Place. Up until a few months ago, I would have given the theater three stars. Thankfully, due to pressure from surrounding movie theaters and an investment from Regal, this theater received an update with the new comfy leather seats and a 4DX theater (moving seats, smells, etc.). This finally brought the Regal up to date with the AMC in Georgetown and other premium theaters outside of D.C. Somehow they have managed to keep the seats and theaters clean, although we'll see if that continues. Let me say that the seats are comfy! Unfortunately, they did not update the food and beverage selection like AMC has been doing with their theaters. You can get Cheetos popcorn here, which can be a plus. Expect to pay the normal $8 for overpriced stale popcorn and $4-$5 for the high fructose corn syrup candy of your choosing. A few tips: The ticketing system is massively outdated and confusing. There are a few kiosks when you walk in on the ground level along with manned ticket booths. Skip both of these and order your tickets on Fandango or Atom Tickets (if you don't have Movie Pass). There are also ticketing machines upstairs right before they check your tickets before going in. These usually have no line versus the ones downstairs. Concessions will take a few minutes, and I have had bad luck with long lines and employees not being efficient in delivering popcorn and other goodies. Give yourself a few extra minutes if you want something to munch on while watching robots destroy your favorite city. With the new leather recliners and consistently clean theaters, I will be back. However, the staff continues to disappoint, and the theater can get crowded on weekends and during new releases. read more

I've been going to this movie theater for years and I am honestly enjoying and loving the new seats, they are just too comfortable! Sometimes, seating availability has not been ideal and I've had to wait in line just because the people at the ticket booth don't lift up the eyesight from their phone so they don't realize that there are people waiting in line. The theater is conveniently located in Chinatown. Metro is on the same block. Theater parking is validated. There are lots of restaurants on the same block. If you sign up for a free Regal card, you'll get alerts about free popcorn or other items with purchase. You earn points each time you use your Regal card. The restrooms are always clean at this theater. The employees are friendly. The theater chairs are comfortable. Snacks are a bit pricey, but theater food is expensive everywhere. Regal hosts lots of events, which we enjoy attending. read more

I came here on a Friday night to see the movie The Photograph and I hadn't been here before but someone told me that it wasn't kept clean so I was a bit hesitant. When I got there I had to use the restroom and to my surprise the bathroom was actually very tidy and clean (thank god). Inside the actual theatre was very clean also. The seats weren't sticky and they reclined with was as opposed to getting stuck like some theaters. There weren't any popcorn or food on the ground and the seats were comfy. I was able to enjoy the movie and be comfortable without worrying about seeing a rodent or any bugs. This is a nice theatre because of its location but if you're trying to avoid parking in a garage it might be difficult to find street parking especially on the weekends. read more

There's a very stark contrast between the viewing experiences at Regal Gallery Place and other cinemas in town such as Atlantic Plumbing or Landmark E Street. On Friday, 10/19 I saw the 11 PM showing of Halloween. There's really no other way to describe the crowd other than completely out-of-hand. Yelling, laughing, playing on phones, constant moving and shuffling around. Props to the employees for kicking out some people who tried to sneak into the show, but that was like an umbrella in a rainstorm. I only go to the movies a few times a year, and I really looked forward to seeing this film on the big screen. Unfortunately, this film-going experience was of low quality. If I am paying $15 for a ticket, I expect to be able to watch the movie. And also- why are people paying to go to a movie just to sit on their phone the entire time‽ read more
