My family and I went to go see the One Piece Strong World movie that they were playing in English that premieres for one night only as a special on November 7th. Whenever we sat down we noticed that it was premiered in Japanese with subtitles, when it was supposed to be the English dubbed version. 15 minutes into it starting an employee turns off the film to let us know that since the movie is playing in Japanese they will restart the film to play in the English version. A couple minutes later that same employee comes back to let us know that they do not even have the movie, and to come to the guest services desk up front to recieve a refund since they "do not have this movie in an English version", so we all left the theater after they had given us a slip of paper equivalent to a free movie.. and this movie is only premiered for the one night only. Whenever I got home, within minutes of research I found out that this specific movie features a short 30 minute film in theaters that is in Japanese only. Had the employee not stopped the film to let us know that they dont even have the movie they're supposed to be showing, we probably would've sat a couple minutes more through this short film and eventually gotten to watch the correct movie which was going to play the entire time in English. You should have looked into this more before opening this up to the public and then sending an employee to give out false information. This could have easily been prevented had somebody actually started the movie and let it run through before releasing it to the public, or even bothered to take a look at the official website thats airing the movie that does include a disclaimer that a 30 minute film that is not in English premieres for half an hour before the movie, while this was NOT listed anywhere on the Mayfair Regal Cinema website. read more

This isn't usually our first choice theater because of the distance from home and the higher pricing. With that being said, the new chairs is where it's at! I loved the upgraded seating. There was a ton of more space and it doesn't feel like I'm creating a distraction if I need to step out for any reason. However, the walls in front of each row are a little tall so if reclined all the way back, I was unable to see some of the viewing screen. I also liked the option of choosing seats. This is a great option for date nights when you do dinner first and may not arrive to the theater early enough to secure the seats you want. There is the option to purchase tickets and select the seats ahead of time so you can arrive whenever. The downside to all the upgrades is the increased pricing. The prices were already pretty high and now they have gone up more. Even the Premier tickets that can be purchased from my workplace now require an additional fee at the theater. read more

My girlfriend and I always come here to see every new movie. The employees have been nothing but nice and the service has been great. Today; however, your employee Michael who was working the concession stand showed little to no enthusiasm towards helping customers. The individuals in front of us were apparently not in the correct line (due to zero delineation of what counter was open) it was busy...Michael looked at each of us and failed to give directive, regardless of how long we would wait without service no. Once we noticed this, we all moved collectively. Unfortunately for us, we relocated to his line. Once in his line, there was zero eye contact, was paying attention to what seemed like another employee who was off for the day, and with no emotion and blasé body language, proceeded to move people through the line in order to continue his conversation with that girl. He also gave attitude to the girl behind us for simply asking to exchange $10 for some change. The people in front of us walked away and went into the theater hall. Wonder how long they had been standing there? We get it. We all have bad days. We all have personal lives, friends, family, and circumstances the get us all up in our heads. But DUDE don't take it out on other people. Put your game face on and go to work. Movies are expensive, concessions are overpriced but where you make your money. If you are going to take my $70 at least shake the attitude and treat everyone with latent indifference instead of contempt. read more

Zero handicapped accessibility. There is absolutely no parking...handicapped or otherwise. I don't know what the theatre itself is like since there was no place to park and unload the electric wheelchair. Definitely discriminatory! read more

Newest theater in Wilmington, its okay.... Lobbys and theaters are very clean, seats are comfy with plenty of leg room. Bathrooms aren't really something to praise and the popcorn is absolutely the most disgusting popcorn, no...substance, I have ever had the misfortune to eat, no matter how much butter is on it, it is dry and stale as all hell and the edges are covered in a foreign black grease looking stuff that looks like they never clean the popper. read more

I love Mayfair, they are very understanding and professional in my opinion. Prices are crazy but that's the movies for you. They do have an IMAX now so that's good. Its the better theatre out of the two in Wilmington. I could say if they don't do any updates in the next few years it will prob need it. More comfortable seating would be nice. I did work for them for 2 years my senior year in high school and going into college. Very good company and will accomdate almost anything you need. I won't ever go opening weekend just cause its so insane. I usually wait during the week or for it to be out at least a week or two. read more

Wish I could give it no stars. We arrived at 10:50p for a 10:35p movie. Yes we were late, but with a 2 year olds and 9 month old it took a bit to get out the door for our first "date" in a year. No one was At box office. Doors closed. Workers were cleaning up concession, movies were clearly playing but even though they saw us and we knocked on door refused to answer. I know we were late, but knowing the amount of previews that are usually shown we were likely to go y miss a min. Or two. I know it's a holiday weekend but you were showing the movies why not answer the door and let us in. We finally left at 11:05, no movie. read more

I really like this movie theater. Surprisingly clean for a mega theater, I am impressed that the bathroom floors and food area are not sticky like so many other mega theaters. Please bear in mind the latest show I have been too there started around 7:00pm and the earliest being the matinee so your experience may be different. The seating is stadium style with comfortable chairs with arm rests and cup holders. Surround and THX sound. My only complaint is the cost of refreshments, they are more than the movie itself at times. read more

I really like the Mayfaire Cinema. The seats are nice and the screens are large. The only complaint I have is that the water fountain inside the theatre has been broken for the past year. I do pay for soft drinks and snacks when I go but I draw the line at paying $5.00 for a bottle of water which is what they charge. read more

With all the new hype about the reclining seats at the movie theatre in Mayfaire you know I had to go and check it out. They have definitely done some major rennovations to the movie theatre. I mean watching a movie like I'm in the comfort of my own home was really cool! They also have an option when you buy your movie ticket in which you can reserve your seat so guess what, you can stand in line for popcorn and lolly gag in the lobby as long as you want without having to worry about getting the seats where you have to strain your neck to see the screen. I could see coming in handy for new releases that sell out quickly as well. They have a hard wood floor under the reclining chairs and they have new LED signs for the names of the movies and the time. The reason why I have it 4 stars instead of 5? The wall that separates each side was a little too tall so when you recline back too far, it cuts off the bottom of the screen! There is also more room all around the seats and in between the seats which was nice. All in all we were pleased with our movie experience. read more

I have visited this location several times now and have enjoyed each movie experience minus the large price tag on tickets, however, that's the way it is everywhere. The theatre was clean and the stadium style seating was comfortable. Bathrooms could use more frequent visits by staff but can get trashed quickly when several movies end at the same time. Great sound in the theatre. Look forward to seeing an IMAX soon! I recommend buying tickets remotely to save time rather than standing in line at the booth. read more

Yeah, the leather recliners are nice. Not really where I like to sit in a theater tho. It given the option of sitting upper center is not fair especially since they don't give the option, implying the theater is full, when in fact IT IS NOT EVEN CLOSE TO FULL. $11.01 for an adult ticket? Not complaining about the $11.00, it's the extra penny that is pure absurdity. A cash paying patron is receiving 98 cents in change for 2 tickets, 99 cents if going solo. Come on on Regal, use some sense ('cents'), save some time for your cashiers and your customers and round your ticket prices to an even number. read more

I'm from Boston originally so I'm not used to there being only one major movie theatre in a city but I guess this is it in Wilmington other than Carmike. Other than the ridiculous prices of concessions (I could eat at Indochine for what a popcorn/soda would cost me), the movie theatre is clean and there are large screens/crisp audio for movies. Can't complain too much. Prices are about on par with movies nowadays. read more

Since when is going to a regular movie so hoity-toity that the seats are reserved??? If you come late, with several people (2 or more) you won't be able to sit together. The recliner seats are ridiculous and unnecessary and probably contribute to the increased price, as does the fact that with such huge seats the seating capacity is much reduced. My friends and I won't be returning to Regal Mayfaire to see a movie!!!!! The new Pointe 14 is much better and the seats, pricing, and no need for reservations are much more sane. read more

Best popcorn in Wilmington. This theatre is a little more pricey than Carmine, but the location is better and cleaner. Downside is that there is literally always a crazy long line, and seems to always have people just standing when they could be helping guests. Nothing that should keep you from visiting though. read more

Excitedly, my husband and a group of friends and I went to a late showing of Guardians of the Galaxy. Everyone in our group had purchased tickets either that day or the evening before to avoid lines since it was opening day. However, the lines were minimal and despite our large group, we were helped quickly at concessions by two very friendly young men who were incredibly patient with us. The price of the snacks was higher then I would like them to be for some popcorn and soda,but since we are from the area and go there frequently we were not surprised by the prices.The theater was clean, the seats were comfortable,and the sound quality was good. The bathrooms were also tidy. Overall a very good experience. read more

I visited this cinema for the first time recently. I went during the week in the middle of the day. I went to see Iron Man 3 just a few days after it was released. The ticket prices for a 3D movie where slightly more then a normal ticket. The theater and bathrooms where clean. I received a coupon for being part of the Regal Crown Club so I received a coupon to get a small popcorn for $2. The popcorn was tasty, but the coke tasted a bit weird. There was very few people in the theater. The chairs are comfortable and allow you to raise the arms of the seats so you can spread out or cuddle with someone. Also, the theater was a good temperature. Usually I feel cold, but the temperature was just right! read more

I like this theatre. It's always clean the staff are always nice and helpful. Love the seating. Mobil arm rests so I can push them up and snuggle with my honey. They lean back easily, are super plush, and there is plenty of leg room. The parking is abundant and the paths in are well lit. It's never to hot or to cold in each theatre space. We drove over from Jacksonville to see Top Gun 3D in IMAX...which was actually faux-IMAX but it was still a great viewing! It was mid-day mid-week so it was not busy at all (our theater had four people) so there were no waits for anything. The seats were comfortable and there was plenty of legroom. read more

So, don't go to a movie here if you're sleepy because their seats are so dang comfy! They rock back and have a full headrest, so you're sure to be sleeping like a baby in no time once the lights go out unless you're watching a full on edge of your seat thriller like we were. Saw X-men First Class here over the weekend. The theatre we went in was huge with very comfortable seating, where the armrests could be lifted for maximum relaxation. Prices are a bit higher than other theatres. read more

I'm being generous with 1 star! This was strike three on how disappointing this theater has become. What was once a nice theater, has now turned into an expensive, time consuming, headache. First, they revamped the theater inside, so now there are new rules. Instead of being able to stand in a line and quickly buy tickets, now takes 3 times as long, because now the seats are ASSIGNED. That's right, ASSIGNED. Unless you are planning on buying your tickets a minimum of three hours early, you WON'T get seats together unless it's the front row; especially if you are there with more than two people. Funny thing is, even if you decide to buy online, you still don't have a choice on seating preference . Thinking this process would be easier, we were placed near the front with no other options for seats. Once in the theater and the movie had started, we notice the ENTIRE back 4 rows of the theater were empty! Why then could we not pick a preferred seat in the back??? You bet your butt we moved to the back where WE chose seats that worked US. Second, we chose a regular viewing theater for one movie experience with the new FANCY reclining chairs. Now... fewer seats offered, was the first thing I noticed. Next, they built some random privacy walls behind each row of seats which even as an adult of 5'9 was annoyed at the fact that the bottom of the screen is cut off from view. This is WITHOUT being reclined as well! I found myself trying to arch up to get the whole screen view but there was no comfortable way to sit. You can forget being a child in these seats. The boys sitting next to me (ages 8-13) were sitting on the BACKS of the chairs just so they could see the screen!!! Ridiculous!!! Third..... the next time trying the theater I decided to find a movie showing where the seats weren't recliner, just rockers.....well, how do you like airplane chairs? That's what they feel like with your head pushed forward from the fancy built in pillow! Neck cramps galore! In addition to the new "comfort" experience, the showing was an IMAX which I Normally love. The sound system was so screwed up, I had to cover my ears for most of the film, and all I could hear was the background base and explosions. I had to continue to ask my husband what was being said by the characters because the background noise was so loud. I'm definitely not old and if my ears HURT with the sound, something is definitely wrong. Horrible experience! Final kicker:my "comfortable IMAX experience" over $17.00 per ticket! That's right!!! Almost $20.00 for one ticket now! Wtf??!!! So we paid $70.00 for tickets to a crappy movie experience and food. NEVER AGAIN!!!!! Who is the "genius" that decided to makes these great changes???? The theater WAS a great date night experience, but they've lost some local customers for good. Very unfortunate. read more

Have been a couple of times since they remodeled. The recliner seats are okay, but they put some people to sleep. I had an older gentlemen sitting beside me, snoring through 20 minutes of the movie. Not picking on him, but considering the new seat selection method, and the fact that I don't care about a recliner, there is no reason for me to return. read more

We went to see Superman tonight. Got there early and waited in line. Right as they started to let us in a TON of people were let in front of us. Due to this we were unable to get good seats...only the crappy ones were left. We went to get a refund and were given two free tickets (so we could get crappy seats in the future), and the lady didn't even care enough to ask why we wanted a refund and DIDN'T even apologize. I'll be selling the free tickets on Craigslist or maybe given them to someone I don't like. read more

Love this theater but it's becoming more and more expensive every time we go. We go about once a month. But I do enjoy that they have a good variety at the concession stand and the seats are roomy and great leg room. IMAX is a plus as well. read more

Very nice theatre and the price of a movie is very high everywhere these days, so the comfortable stadium recliner seats are well worth it. Extremely disappointed in the prices of food/drink, especially the bottled water. I can buy a whole case for less than you charge for a bottle and I drink it at room temperature. Regal could get cases dirt cheap. Why not offer free bottled water for patrons. This might help folks drink more water, less soda while they do the "couch potato" movie. Nobody should eat popcorn without a drink (think bowel obstruction) and most families have to share drinks or have none. Come on Regal - do the right thing - there will still be plenty who pay for soda, but for the others, you might just help them learn to like water and avoid all that sugar!!
