After seeing some years old reviews i was hesitant, but i can report that AMC definitely took notice and there have been many things made better at this location. Excellent staff, excellent location, Great new reclining seats with support cushions, and of course a great popcorn bucket with a coke! Okay, but it could be great. Here are a few suggestions Your air handlers and filters could use a change. The theater's air is stale, the air is heavy, and it smells bad. The other AMC theater in town next to Academy Sports does not have this problem. The process of checking you in is slow and inefficient, unlike at the other theater. It seems an exchange training program might help. Sometimes, a business gets good at doing things poorly, so it doesn't notice how poorly it is actually performing. Making people who have purchased tickets wait in line for people who have not or making everyone wait in line while people fumble around deciding on snacks is a waste of time for everyone. Separating them (even if they check in at the snack bar) in their own line would streamline everyone through much faster and give people buying food better service, too. The theater feels run down; sections are closed off but visible, which makes it look like a failing business, it's dingy and needs a refresh of paint and other simple updates, and it's in poor shape. There are very few movie posters and no major show displays that are common at other theaters. If the point is to keep prices low by operating like a discount theater, then the prices should reflect that, too. The movie itself and the theater were ok; the seats were somewhat narrow for a modern theater, and we are surprised they don't recline as they do much of the rest of the country. The theater also had the sound up way too high. Yes, I do have some hearing sensitivity so I keep a decibel level monitor app running on my phone. It was regularly over 100 decibels and hit 125 several times. Anything over 85 is damaging. Some theaters forget because they damage the hearing of the staff who can no longer sense when the sound is too loud. April 2025 Went in to see King of Kings- Service was very good and I would rate it 5 stars. All staff members were helpful esp. trying to help me with my Fandango ticket and finding it on my phone. I'm old, what can I say. LOL The price for a soda $7 is over the top but we all know it going in. The front entry to the theatre rooms was not clean. Popcorn everywhere. There were three or four people working the counter so one should have been told to go and clean that mess up. Did not use the bathroom so can't say. This movie theatre doesn't have any real up grades but it is close by and the staff is nice. Much better review this time since my last visit in 2023. read more

Its the older theatre in this town but still very expensive. 3 tickets -3 drinks at 5pm $70. If you like a more updated one its about 10/15 mins away. The service was polite and they have an arcade area if you need to waste some time. It is right behind the mall if you want to make a full day out with kids! Come visit! read more

I was not pleased with this theater. I will be writing more reviews if this one doesn't get seen. Let me start by saying I don't go to see movies often but my child wanted to see Stitch so bad. It was supposed to be a fun outing. As soon as we got to the theater the employee ruined it for us. She was rude, not helpful and immediately irritated me. I don't know her name but I'm sure you could find her as she was toothless. She clearly didn't like her job and she was talking to other employees letting them know it. I don't think anyone like that should be working with the public if they don't like being kind. I just had questions because I couldn't see the menu very well. I did not enjoy my time spent at this AMC and I am no longer giving my money to AMC. Fortunately there are no locations near me in Raleigh. This theater is poorly run and outdated. The seats date back to the 90's, they do not recline and there is no in theater dining. I understand that Jacksonville is behind in time but this is pitiful. For Christmas Day I took my mom to see the matinee for West Side Story. Upon arrival there was no one to scan or tickets or tell us where our theater was located. We could have walked in without purchasing online tickets. The theater's temperature was set to subzero. The temperature was unbearably cold. My mother is a senior and we ended up leaving before the movie was over. The sound quality was terribly poor. I could have watched this movie at home for better surround sound. Employees were amazing and kind, the bathrooms were clean, popcorn was great. Every drink machine was working. The theatre was clean and the cushions were comfortably warm, they had a great selection of movies showing at the time and had an excellent selection of candy's at the register, my child and I genuinely enjoyed our time and cannot give enough thanks to the theatre staff and atmosphere. My wife and I have eight grandkids going on nine, nearly able to use a senior citizen discount and the staff insisted on verifying our age as at least 18 to purchase tickets to the "R" rated movie. All this is an exercise in compliance. I do not comply. If you think the excuse of blindly following a corporate policy, that is also a stupid policy, you are wrong. America was not founded on stupid corporate policy and it is time that corporations learn how capitalism works. Boycott AMC and any business with stupid policies. Additionally, if you are going to have a no gun policy then you need to provide visible armed security at your theaters. Another contra-American policy. Did a private theater rental for myself and 19 friends. Concessions were fine. The theatre was disgusting. I literally stood up and Joked with all my friends that if they run out of popcorn, there is plenty on the floor. I'm BIG on costumer service it's a place that is slightly dirty but the costumer service is amazing, I usually give a high score for the place. I have to say, I was so grateful for Tasha and her excellent and informative service. She convinced me of enjoying the AMC Stubs premiere club. She gave me all the exclusives I would be a part of and the major rewards I would be enjoying. Although the cashier station was closed, and the line was long, it was worth the wait when the cashier and Tasha attended me. I was an hour early for my movie and even before I asked, they suggested I get the empty popcorn bags and when I was ready to pick up the popcorn, they would allow me to do so and my convenience. As for the game room, the machines are old and they eat your money. We did use air hockey but don't recommend a lot of the games as they are missing a parts and have a unpleasant smell. As for the cleanliness. The floors and seats are disgusting. They look ancient and feel dirty. I felt like buying Clorox and cleaning my own seat. It's old and needs some TLC. Jacksonville may have a bad rep for being boring BUT I'm feeling pretty grateful to be part of a small town that services people with love and care. read more

Don't use this theatre. We took our son to see ninja turtles and there is a bad odor throughout the building that smells like mildew, the AC does not work and we left early because it was really hot, so it made it hard to enjoy the movie. We rarely go to the movies anymore (welcome to parenthood!) so we were excited to go see Harry Potter for our anniversary! Due to timing issues, we had to see the early 5:35 show but that was okay because I was thinking we'd get matinee prices...but oh gee, matinee prices end at 5:30. How conveeeeeenient that HP started five minutes later. /rolleyes/ But aside from that, the theater is just fine. There were no lines when we were there (that said, I don't think I've ever been there where the lines were that long), no lines for concessions, and no lines to enter the theaters. I appreciate the stadium seating and comfortable seats, though I do wish the arm rests would move (they're snuggle-proof!). The theaters would benefit from a bit more sound-proofing (during quiet parts of HP, we could hear raucous Glee singing from the neighboring theater) but that's typical of most theaters. I was originally going to go with four stars, but ended up with three because of how fast movies come and go. We wanted to take our son to see Cars 2, but it was in and out of the theater in under a month. A MONTH! And HP was on two screens for a month, then went down to one screen with only three daily showings. FOR HARRY POTTER! That's just ridiculous. I place part of the blame on the movie industry for cluttering the theaters with stupid 3D versions of everything and taking up valuable screen space, but what can you do? read more

I wish I could give it-0- stars. We arrived at 6 pm for a 6:30 start time (Tuesday evening). Let me preface this with We are not Premier Members. There were 4 ppl working the registers for concessions and purchasing of tickets (ie same people). The non-Premier line was out the door and the Premier people were served FIRST by ALL FOUR concessionaires. When management was asked why I was told this is Company Policy. So for a one time fee of $15 to become a Premier Member you'll serve them first and for those of us waiting over a half hour in line and still no service you'll lose my $30+ order of a movie and food purchases??? Business 101 dedicate at least ONE Concessionaire to the non-Premier customer. We left and will see our movie elsewhere and spend our food money with another company. read more

We are AMC Premiere members. We stood in line and were soundly ignored by the one person running the concession stand. She saw us in the premiere line but said nothing. I finally went over to ask and she said she was the only person there so we needed to get in the regular line. That line was long! This movie theater smells like sweaty feet, dirt, rank breath and a culmination of about 5 years of unwashed floors and chairs. It's like they filled the place with marine who just spent a week in the field with no shower then turned off the A/C. I'm pretty sure nothing in here has ever seen a mop. Staff is friendly. Popcorn wasn't stale. Not sure the soda machines have been cleaned in a while though. Jacksonville is seriously hurting for a nice theater. First we always purchase our tickets via Fandango and most all the places we have went we show our tickets and that's that on our cellphones. Well lo and behold here you have to go too this place, that place etc Why? We have tickets and they are paid for what's the big deal ever heard of Fandango folks? My husband and I love going to the movies. This theater is just down the street from our home. It's always crowded which is nice sometimes. There's a lot of ghetto people here. I'd annoying because you're trying to watch a scary movie and they are in the background screaming, "run bitch! Don't go in their!" Or they are laughing when we are all trying to be scared.... Im not exactly sure why this movie theater doesnt open until 1230 on Saturdays. If you want to see a movie early without a crowd this wouldnt be the place to go because of the lateness in opening. I waited to see Rougue 1 so I could enjoy it without packed audiences and didnt enjoy it as much because of all the kids there because of the late opening. AMC what are you doing?!?!? What happened to the ticket booth, separate from the concession line?? I arrived at 6:15pm for a showing at 6:15pm. This was fine because I don't care too much for previews that go for 25 minutes before the film, so I assumed I had enough time to purchase my ticket. The main line was looped twice and out the door, while the premiere line was a constant 5 customers. I say that because for 1 regular customer, 5 premiere customers get to purchase tickets and concession. There were 6 registers, with 6 cashiers, and one manager calling order numbers. So one register available for a line out the door, and 5 registers for premiere members, ridiculous. I could care less about the entitled premiere members, that's not the point. The point is the fact that they combined the concession stand with the ticket booth when half of the customers are only there to purchase tickets, not food. Families have to wait out in the lobby, when the normal method is to have one person or parent purchase the tickets at the ticket booth, and the family takes their seats in the theater, and if they want food, that person or parent goes back out to the concessions. Even those who already paid their tickets ahead of time online still had to wait in the same line with everyone else to get their e-ticket scanned. What happened to the self-service-ticket kiosk?!? AMC 16, it is ridiculous that you deem it appropriate to punish customers for not paying a one time $15 fee to be a premiere member. In the end, I waited 30 minutes to purchase one ticket that was supposed to be $5 on a Tuesday Special, but I was charged $7.49 ($8.01 after tax) for a regular digital movie! I had no time to argue and make others wait even longer, and for me to miss anymore of my movie, so I decided to handle it afterwards. To make things worse, the theater I went into was screening the movie to the left of the screen instead of the center leaving a large area blank on the right side. I told myself I'd be complaining to the manager after the movie, which I already missed the first 5 minutes of. After the movie, I went back into the building to complain. The regular line only had 4 people, but the premiere line was the only one moving. The same thing over again. I figured the $2.50 refund wasn't worth waiting in line any longer, or making others wait for me to complain so I decided to write this book on yelp to say that I'm very disappointed in AMC for how they're running this business. This cannot possibly be company policy. Please fix the issue. At least AMC 12 has a line for those who already purchased tickets online. read more

I really like this theater. It has a couple issues that I'd love to see changed, but they are minor. I always try to go to the first showing of the day, so it isn't as crowded. The bathrooms are always clean when I've gone on there, and the staff is normally very friendly--I've found it especially so when one particular manager is working than when he isn't, but even then, I've never had an issue and I've been going to this theater since it opened. Once I even lost my wallet in the theater. I didn't even notice until the next morning. I drove over there, employees were waiting outside for the manager to unlock the doors and I spoke to a couple of them telling them my situation. As soon as the manager unlocked the door, they told her and she escorted me to where I'd sat the day before and there was my wallet...nothing missing. I have gone to the new theater in town twice. It may be newer, but it does not stack up to this one. This theater complex has a large lobby with lots of seating so when you are there too early to get into your showing, you don't have to stand in the lobby like a loafer with no better place to be. There is also an arcade to help keep the kids occupied while that wait happens. The staff is young, but have always acted like professionals to me. No smarty mouths and no eye rolling--even when I forget the title of the film I'm there to see (old age can do that to ya) There isn't much I still drive into Jacksonville for--but going to this movie theater is one of them. And I'm there quite often. My complaints are all about other customers and not about the facility. And when those other customers have gotten too obnoxious and the staff has been alerted to it, it is ALWAYS handled promptly and completely! Feel like a teen again, except they don't accept student discounts. Mom will come pick me up at midnight when the show gets out, because that's definitely when the last show plays. I'm surprised this theater is still busy, possibly because of the location, close to the mall, centralized. The new carmike boasts ridiculous sized screens and 3D everything.
