25 yr anniversary of Titanic
Arcadia S.

Watched Titanic for the FIFTH TIME in theaters, this time in 3-D and with my children & our friends. Cried like always. West Tower Regal Cinema is a modest theater with basic trappings but there's nothing to complain about cuz staff did their jobs well, the place was clean (even the ladies restroom, where one goes to wash one's face after sobbing through Titanic, again), and the seats were comfortable. We picked this theater since we were a group of seven trying to save a few bucks, and this was the most affordable theater in the area. I'd choose them over many a fancier theater every time.

Arrived on a Thursday night 2/1/18 for a 7:05 p.m. showing. Hardly any customers which is fine with me, no lines! Clean restroom, no line at concession, the popcorn was good and the theater was clean. This theatre is old and doesn't have the stadium seating that I've grown accustomed to. Thankfully there were not many people there so no heads in my way! LOL I will definitely go back.

Movie night!! Time for the photo booth!

I know there are some newer cinemas in town, but I still love West Tower. The staff is upbeat and serve up your popcorn quick as a flash! But I really love the vibe here, with arcade games and the iconic photo booth. I seldom leave without getting several cheesy photo strips and love the memories they evoke. My fridge is covered with photos from my movie nights! I hope West Tower doesn't change!

Old seating not on an incline, hope no one tall in front of you
Noname S.

Old out dated theater. Seats are from like the 80s, causes skin itching, and are not on an incline so if you got someone tall in front of you than your view will be blocked. Many areas of the theater smells like mold and mildew. Theater 6 has a horribly large red glare on screen during entire movie caused by the exit sign as seen in pic. Lastly this location unlike others only puts small amount of butter on top of medium popcorn and not through out... Go to the location at Virginia Center Commons, it is much better than this location and Short Pump.

These are the refund tickets that the manager gave me that expired 2 years ago.

Good location wise but don't go here if you have allergies. There is a mold/mildew smell in some of the theaters at this location.

Regal 14 in Short Pump is way too packed and doesn't have enough seats to accommodate their guests (movies are always sold out at Regal 14).

I couldn't type this review fast enough omg Lolol. So I just discovered an interesting policy I…read morehave never heard of (I'm not from Virginia) that does not allow me entry to a showing (Jurassic) if I'm 15 minutes "late". Ironically, I showed up late on PURPOSE to avoid the previews. I asked the reason for this policy, and the black female manager did not tell me the reasons. Her exact response was "we don't let anybody in past a certain time". (Redundant). I don't think it was a difficult question that I asked, nor did I present as nasty or flustered. I asked very plainly the WHY, not the WHAT, and she could barely make eye contact with me. I then asked "well, is it because it interrupts/distracts other patrons?" And she said "yes that's one of many reasons". Lmao Why she couldn't just share the reasons with me, was very unprofessional. Perhaps she's used to disgruntled customers and was prematurely impatient with me?.... But girl.... I am kind and being patient with this very weird theater lmao. Or maybe she actually didn't have the answer for me. Who knows. 1 Since late patrons are being stopped at the ticket booth, does this mean they're not allowed to purchase popcorn if the previews are about to end? 2 By this logic of interrupting other patrons, doesn't that mean we aren't allowed to use the bathroom once the movie has begun? Anyway, I asked for a refund which I could not get due to me purchasing my ticket via Fandango. My other option was to catch the next movie showing , which would be a $3 up charge because it's in 3D. I don't like 3D but at this point... I've already lost the battle I asked the manager..... "so do I pay for the $3 up charge via fandango, Since you guys have nothing to do with my initial payment transaction? " Of course the answer was no. I was obligated to pay them directly. (Capitalism?) My goodness... The inconsistency in conjunction with the weird nonchalant attitude of the manager was an unnecessary annoyance for me. Like... I can't get a refund NOR CAN I GET A CLEAR EXPLANATION?! I'm from NYC and have never heard of this policy before, so an explanation would have actually made things clear for me. But instead I was met with no eye contact and weird body language. I was sincerely confused and not being an asshole. I'm also an actress and therapist, hence my attention to personalities and communication. Anyway I ended up paying the $3 difference, and was then instructed to go inside the theater, 20 minutes early. LMAO !!! I guess she missed the part where I said I don't like previews (may I suggest a customer service course for all staff?) I asked "how much time do I have"? And she said "15 minutes". So I ended up waiting in my car. *sigh* This is why movie theaters are going out of business now . All this trouble, and overpriced movie snacks, when I could just wait for the film to be streamed online, with popcorn that doesn't cost $1,266. Bonus: I was here last week to see Megan 2.0. There was an afternoon showing, that my friend and I were unable to purchase online for some reason (the night before...) So we decided to just purchase tickets here in person, the day of. Turns out, the showing was completely removed as an option. From both the kiosk and the staff operating system. We ended up leaving and driving to regal cinemas near Ashland instead. I prob shouldn't have returned to this place after the Megan 2.0 issue, but I decided to give bow tie a second chance. But honey, I'm not baseball so there won't be any third strike options with me. This is my first (and last time) in RVA. Lord! I am realistic, so I do not expect for other businesses to thrive like the ones we have in NYC, but whew! It's very very very clear why it will never compare. I mean, Jesus... it's a slow Monday afternoon. The theater is VERY empty and this whole thing was so dramatic and avoidable. Maybe consider using this specific policy ONLY during peak hours? I'm no business woman, nor am I an entitled Karen, but im a sincerely confused out of town visitor who wants y'all to do better. Also, Please don't be harsh with that black manager by the way, it's not her fault that these policies exist. But she could definitely use a customer service refresher course.

Also the theater is located right across the street from multiple restaurants and even Gelati Celesti, so grab a bite before or after your movie to complete your fun day!

My server took our order and our entrees showed up before or drinks of water and ginger. I order the salmon with out potatoes but wanted a double portion of the spinach. It came out without the potatoes but not a double portion is spinach. The server said the chef said it was doubled. Ok if you say so. Let's get down to the actual meal, the Salmon was overcooked and the sauce was extremely salty. Like I could feel my blood pressure rising with each bit. The popcorn was cold and salty. It's a wrap for me. I am going back to a regular Regal theater cause cinebistro isn't it.

Apps Both the fried green tomatoes and the baked goat cheese were delicious. The tomato jam in the candied shallots on the goat cheese, made it rich and delightful. And they had enough baguette, which is impressive because usually the bread runs out in most places or something like this. The fried green tomatoes were also rich and indulgent and the peach habanero jelly was a nice bright kick. For entrées we got a couple CMX burgers, the ravioli and the chicken BLT. I usually get the tuna poke bowl, which is always very good but this time I was in the mood for a sandwich so the chicken BLT was a risk, but turned out it paid off. The chicken was cooked perfectly as well as the bacon. Very satisfying. The burgers never disappoint and my son really enjoyed his ravioli with an extra steaks you were on the side.

We sat in the middle and the reclining seats were fantastic. The sound wasn't too loud or too quiet, and the moviegoers were on their best behavior. The popcorn and drinks are highway robbery. It was such a great movie--both the kids and the adults really enjoyed it. I purchased our tickets online, so I only needed to scan my phone for entry. However, the self-service kiosks started malfunctioning. I went to the concession stand for assistance, and an employee helped me so I could get our snacks. Once we were seated, my baby accidentally knocked over our brand-new bucket of popcorn. We went back out and explained what happened to a young employee. To my surprise, she kindly replaced the popcorn for us. Before the movie started, we returned to our seats and did our best to clean up the mess. Overall, we had a wonderful time. The staff was friendly and helpful, especially when unexpected issues came up. I do wish Regal would hire more young people for summer jobs, as the self-service machines seemed to be having technical difficulties and additional staff could help assist customers more quickly.
