This goes for the NYYC Harbor Court station in Newport, RI. Our Commodore was having his "Commodore Cruise" in New England and the closing dinner was to be at Harbor Court. Now, with COVID there was a limit on guests amd total crowd for a dinner. We had over 100 cruising ew England and over 80 were due for the final dinner. Add Henri the hurricane to the mix and we had some challenges for the dinner. We had cocktails on the front lawn. Then, the NYYC set is up outside in the motor court area for dinner. This allowed us to get our entire group together. Weather was perfect. Calm Before the storm as they say. We even had the opportunity to watch the clubs "colors" ceremony when they retreat the flag each evening prior to sunset. Now getting to the food and service. With COVID it is especially hard to find amd keep good servers. We struggle with that at our club. It here at the NYYC. First they had plenty of staff. A welcome reprise from those businesses who can't seem to ramp staff back up. Even more impressive, their staff are trained very well. Women first, serve from left, remove from Right etc... I was thoroughly impressed that during COVID, and the night before a major hurricane, the NYYC was able to host the dinner for the StFYC and do so at such a best-of-class level. If you have a chance to visit Harbor Court, don't miss it!

Planning process: Our coordinator was repeatedly rude and condescending toward my mother throughout the planning process. She was also disorganized -- it took multiple rounds of corrections before she had our event details right. She also gave us incorrect measurements for pipe and drape, resulting in a $2,000 charge for a setup that couldn't be used as intended. Credit card fraud: About two months after our wedding, we noticed a fraudulent charge on the credit card we'd given the venue for our event. After investigating with our credit card company, we traced it to an email linked to this same coordinator's name, with an IP address in Newport, RI. We reported this to OceanCliff immediately. At first, they seemed genuinely engaged in getting to the bottom of it and asked us to file a police report, which we did. The Newport Police investigation confirmed the employee had stolen our credit card information and used it for personal purchases. Once the investigation concluded, OceanCliff went silent. Despite repeated requests, they never told us how our information was compromised, what changes they've made to prevent it from happening to other couples, or offered any acknowledgment of the time, stress, and violation of trust this caused during what should have been one of the happiest periods of our lives. We trusted this venue with our wedding and our financial information, and that trust was badly broken -- first by an employee, and then by a venue that stopped engaging once the legal matter was resolved. I can't in good conscience recommend OceanCliff to other couples.

The continental breakfast is fine-a cut above usual hotel fare-but the coffee is WEAK. There's good fresh fruit, hardboiled eggs, an assortment of pastries sweet and savory, cereal, yogurt, etc. Hot and very cold water are always available. We sat on the wrap-around farmer's porch a good deal, both from our room and at breakfast. Everything was clean and comfortable. The inn is beautiful. It's worth a climb down to the tap room/bar for its charm alone! Little Compton has a lot to offer, and we will probably come back, definitely staying at The Stone Inn.

But if you're like me, you never really noticed it until you attended a wedding there. Purchased by the town of Narragansett and restored as an event venue in 2002, Kinney bungalow is a very nice space for a smallish wedding. The one i attended had the ceremony and cocktail hour outside the bungalow on the grounds, and the reception inside the bungalow. The background in early fall was very serene - view of a farm and the sound of birds in the air. The one negative is a layout -the space is basically a square, which is great, but in actuality it's the outline of a square, as the middle area is blocked off for the stairs, elevator, and built-in bar. This results in some strange sight lines - if there's something going on (like cake cutting) on one side of the square, depending on your seat your view might be obstructed. I was informed that only the space (and possibly the chairs/tables) came as part of the venue, so i won't include any ratings of the food here. To sum it up, Kinney is a solid choice of a wedding or other even venue for anyone looking to work in a little bit of Rhode Island flair.

I don't write one star reviews, but I have a friend who is currently wedding planning and went to…read morethis establishment for a tour and experienced such blatantly rude, ignorant and xenophobic behavior that I feel like I have to write a review just to warn/prepare prospective wedding planners. First off, the venue coordinator was generally rude and condescending the entire time, asking my friend repeatedly if he had read the email she had sent them, while also commenting on the fact that she expected them to have more questions? Wedding planning is obviously stressful but part of the job is customer service and you can NOT be actively rude! Anytime they asked a question that she clearly didn't have a good answer to she would downplay it by responding condescendingly and make them feel weird for asking . One example that felt particularly alarming to me was that my friend asked if they have any single person restrooms to accommodate non-binary guests, or families. She responded by saying that "we've never had that issue before, we've had trans here before but they just used the mens room". While I won't try to begin to unpack all of the insane parts of that response, I just want to say that a normal and sane way to respond would have been "yes, we have single person bathrooms" or "no we do not have single person bathrooms". Then at another point in the tour, my friend asked what the biggest issue they tend to have at the venue is. I feel like this is a common enough question that event planners and owners of venues should have a quick response to, but instead this woman again had an alarming reply. She basically said that "timing" is difficult because some people run late which makes things complicated at the venue, and then she SPECIFICALLY said that "island people" (read: black people) tend to run late and that's causes issues. Not only did that not answer the question at all, she basically said "problems that this venue has? Well when we host black people there are problems". Excuse me????? Who do you think you are??? Literally writing this is making me laugh out loud at how ridiculous of a response that is. The only reason my friend toured this place was because he had gone to a wedding here before, and ironically after this insane experience he called that friend and she told him that while she loved her wedding 100% if she could do it again she would do it somewhere else because the venue coordinator was so awful. Apparently local businesses also avoid working with this place because of this woman. Overall, this was just a horribly and unnecessarily awkward experience for my friend, and I just hope that any couple looking at venues reads this before touring to spare them the stress of having to meet with this woman. Its a HUGE shame too because it really is a stunning venue! They should just get new planners :)

While we weren't allowed to begin arriving till the half hour leading up to the ceremony, they had plenty of parking and a nice site. The ceremony was held at their classic white gazebo, then we were led indoors into the banquet hall with 16 large round tables each able to seat 10 guests, and a long table along the side for the wedding party. Beautiful carved floral decorations were set about the stationary displays while smaller carvings were to be found on the trays carried about. The passed appetizers were pretty tasty. The chowder was okay. The prime rib and accompanying sides were pretty good. Service was fine.

I have attended several work related events here and have always found the staff to be friendly and helpful. The bartenders are very professional and efficient. They offer (golf cart) shuttle service from the many parking lots to the buildings for those who need assistance or just do not want to walk up the hill in heels! If you are looking to host a high end event / you should definitely consider Squantum as the venue.
