Run by the husband and wife team of Anna (pronounced Anya), an aesthetician, and Peter, a massage therapist, the place has a subtle Tuscan decor and the feel of a neighborhood salon frequented by the retired, affluent residents of north Scottsdale. I was referred to Esthetique by a friend and over the last couple years, it has become my go-to place for deep cleansing European facials. I go to Anna when she's available but on occasion have also gone to Gail. Both are excellent and follow the same protocol of purging your skin of impurities on a maniacal level. The day spa side of the salon has three facial rooms and one laser hair removal room. The treatment rooms are functional, clean, nothing fancy. But when the lights go down, I could care less what the joint looks like because that's when Anna and Gail do their magic. Here's what I like about their facials: Every single little tiny pore on your face is cleaned to the nth degree. In fact, the extractions can be somewhat painful depending on your skin condition (I'll be honest, I've teared up on occasion). Once the extractions stage of the facial is done though, you'll get a relaxing shoulder massage and be lulled into a very relaxed state during the mask portion. Facials always seem to run longer than an hour too. With all the day spas and skincare joints in the Valley, it might seem like quite a trek to the far reaches of Scottsdale but if you're dealing with acne flair-ups or just want to experience a true European facial, I'd highly recommend Esthetique.
