Regency Cinema 8 - Cinema Near Me - London, Kentucky

I've been traveling 60 miles, one way, for over 20 years to watch movies in a good and solid movie theater. Regency Cinema 7 (now Cinema 8) has always been one of the better venues. Recently, I noticed that the cinema was starting to look dilapidated and run down. The theater lobby was looking rather worn, the game room they added was NEVER properly managed, and the bathrooms were nasty. A mistake that most theater owners make is NOT having adequate supervision at their cinemas and letting a group of unresponsible teens run the place. Well, I noticed tonight that the there is a little more "adult supervision" going on now at the Regency Cinema 8 and I can't say that it is needed and appreciated enough. The bathrooms were clean, and the theater was being cleaned after every showing. A middle aged "manager" was taking the staff around and pointing out the trouble areas. Bravo, to this establishment for taking steps to clean their place and keep their clientele happy. I'll be back with the family again. Bravo! read more

Horrible horrible movie theater. Broken down and diety. Our movie stopped multiple times then they moved us to a new theater. Not a fun experience with kids. Bathrooms are extremely broken down. Ended up with them having to refund everyone. They need to buy a vacuum. read more

I've been back. Owners have made a lot of improvements. Cleaned up a lot. Sound system needs work but I am no longer afraid to go.

One star is way too much for this place. This venue does not even deserve to be rated with stars. I wouldn't be surprised if I saw rats picking up the slack for the people who work there who don't do their jobs. Stains are littered throughout and it smells like urine everywhere. To the people who would even consider doing business with this disastrous monstrosity, go to Corbin's theatre. At least there you can actually enjoy your movie experience. read more

Went to see Kong: Skull Island in 3D. We had to tell the only two employees we could find -- who were working tickets, concessions, AND reels -- to start the movie when we were left in darkness five minutes after the movie was supposed to start. Then we left five minutes after the movie began because the 3d didn't even work. We tried trading for a pair of new glasses, but it was the screen itself that didn't work. If that weren't enough, the floor was filthy and the room smelled like mold. The tickets were being passed out at the concessions stand, which tell me either the ticket booth at the front was broken, or having no more than two people working meant they couldn't sell tickets and concessions in two different places. There isn't a lot to do in London, so it's a shame the owners of Regency 8 are letting the place just rot away. read more

This is by far the worst movie theater I have ever been to. I generally go to the one in Corbin and I forgot why until this past weekend. We went to see a movie we weren't able to see in Corbin that was still playing here. All of the floors inside were sticky. My husband used the bathroom and we sat down on a bench in the lobby, only to find out it had a sticky layer of "something" all over it. This was not just one but all of the ones we looked at. We got there early and decided to go to the arcade next door. All but five of the machines were broken. The ones that did work might as well have been broken. The "pizzeria" did not exist. We went by the bathrooms in the lobby before we headed into the movie. The females bathrooms were okay but my husband stated the mens were atrocious. Of the three stalls, only one was usuable, either do to feces all over the stall or because someone had broken the toilet seat. They were absolutely disgusting. We got some popcorn, drinks and Whoppers on the way into the movie. The popcorn was absolutely disgusting, old and rubbery. The Whoppers were so old they were hollowed out in the middle. The floor was sticky in the movie theater too and I was weary to touch anything. We really should have just left but we tried to give them a chance. This place is apalling and I'm pretty sure my husband and I caught something while we were there. We now have sniffly noses and sore throats....Don't go here!!!! read more

This theater makes the drive to Lexington worth it!! What a shame. London deserves a nice theater, but it has this hot mess. I think that the owners are posting fake reviews because they're getting slammed otherwise. You'll need a chiropractor adjustment after an hour sitting in these seats. You'll want a bath too!! Who knew popcorn could taste this bad? It's gonna take more than new management to fix this. read more

This has got to be the absolute worst theater I have ever seen or been to in my entire life. It is REVOLTING. First of all, the "lobby" this place is so small it feels like I'm in a broom closet. The inside of this place looks like it hasn't been renovated since the 1970's. It doesn't even look like its been cleaned since the 1970's. I didn't dare go in to the bathroom so I can't say anything about it, although I can imagine the horror inside. When I went in to the actual theater to see my movie, I LITERALLY almost threw up. It smelled like I was in a gas station bathroom in the middle of Oklahoma. PUTRID. There was so many empty and not empty used cups of drink all over the place, empty, and not empty bags of popcorn EVERYWHERE. The floor was caked in old soda, and every step was a struggle lifting my feet against the sticky goo caked on the floor. It looked like it had never been cleaned in 40 years. Ever. Not even an attempt to get the bags of popcorn people left. Nothing. There was even chairs missing seats. The screen was dinky, old, ripped and had a very strong yellow tint, like someone had peed all over it. I did notice they had 2 Glade plugins plugged into the wall, although they didn't help at all. At least at one point in time at least one person made some what of an attempt. I will never EVER be going back to this place. This was the 2D showing of Man of Steel, and I grabbed some 3D glasses out of the recycle box and helped myself to the 3D showing, which was in a less revolting theater, although still a bad experience. I'l be driving very far away the next time I want to see a movie. read more
