I am a movie club rewards and movie pass member. I just wanta say this for full disclosure. I like this place. I've had some great times and moments here w my daughter, I've definately had a problem w the kids Mac and Cheese. This time I went in running late to a show and encountered Hunter and Maya at concession stand. I usually order at my seat but w the show started I didn't want to be on my phone a bunch. They are such wonderful people. They were personable, spoke to my daughter and included her in our discussion about the movie we are seeing and the menu, offered us advice about their favs, and were a really great representation of what Movie Tavern should be looking for in employees. The food we ordered was horrendous! The cheese pizza was more like a cheese cracker- it was so overcooked! The sliders were not as advertised. Where were the grilled onions and the cheese?!? The buns were dry and the meat was inedible- it was so overcooked! I've hadbbetter burgers at White Castle! Fries were passing fair. If I ever go to Movie Tavern again, it will be for a movie only! For this review I will be rating each amenity the theater has. First we enjoy this theater for its convenience in location and price. Being a rewards member has many benefits. - membership benefits and movie ticket specials. This theater has great week day deals and your membership is free - food, it's terrible but why did you expect. For the price I would expect more though. Wouldn't recommend eating here. Popcorn about as far as I would go. - theater and seats. Comfortable but the sound is not the best. - cleanness bathrooms and theater could be cleaner. - customer service is minimum however what do you expect with high school students. - drinks love being able to order a beer. However, $9 for a 24oz is crazy. This isn't a sporting event. For the price of food and drinks the quality should be better. Not microwave food. (I actually prefer it over Fandango because it offers better benefits, like exclusive deals and easier navigation). They've been getting really creative with how they enhance the movie-going experience--Tuesday movies for just $6 with free popcorn all day is a huge win! Plus, they regularly market for sporting events, offer $7 tickets before 4 pm every day, and have some fun promotions like mystery movie Mondays and passports to watch entire movie series. I'm not big on ordering food, drinks, or snacks when I go so I can't really speak to the service. But the Dolby sound system and the comfy seats make every film feel immersive. The theater is always super clean, and if you're not into chatting with employees, you can easily walk in, find your seat, and leave without any interaction--everything's streamlined to make it hassle-free. read more

A bit torn on this review. Sometimes we go the theater is immaculate with new comfy chairs. The food always comes out fresh and has all your typical theater goodies and beyond. However, last time we went we must've been in an older theater room as all the the chairs were very worn down and peeling and could use a bit of repair. The burger I ordered was cold, and no one in our party had their drinks delivered until I asked for a new burger. Other people were done eating before drinks arrived. I would give 5, but they don't take Apple Pay. However besides that awesome experience. They let me use card information dive I showed my Apple Pay card. Very handicap accessible. Multiple bathrooms for disabled not just wheelchair ones. Everything, but alcohol is delivered right to your seat in timely manner. However if asked they are more then happy to assist you to get your seat with alcoholic purchase. Which is nice when you are on a cane. Seats are very nice. Leather makes them so comfortable and easy to sanitize. Area is very clean. Floor are not even sticky. Have wheelchair spots and cane/walker available seats. So today I learned about some nuances with Movie Tavern. They are very nit picky about certain things and the hours listed on Google are kind of misleading. Today was the second time the Federation of Whoever Whatever in Film and All Things Media Related (not really the group, but I tried) had involved themselves in National Cinema Day. I had other means of seeing the two top most movies Barbie and Oppenheimer and so I looked through the listings to see what was showing. OMG! The Hill was an AWESOME movie. I guess it was faith based with some romance thrown in with the main plot line of baseball; but it had me teary eyed and cursing at various points in the movie. Something Barbie and Oppenheimer did not make me do. Anywho, when you get the deals on meals (meals on wheels...lol) they will check you. So if you want a $3 hot dog and a $3 32 oz; you will have to show them your ticket. I guess that is pretty explanatory. Also, the hours of 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends make no sense. if the place opens at 12 p.m. and your movie starts at 12 p.m., you see how that makes no sense? Luckily, I saw a gal and her daughter, next to me, ask a movie theater employee, picking up trash, something movie theater related. They ended up getting out of their car and head in. I decided to do the same and I found out that one can actually get a ticket through a kiosk at the entrance until 12 p.m. So I am guessing the actual theater is open at 11:30 p.m. The concession area is also open as well. read more

Singled out, Never returning Me & my family have been coming here for quite some time, yet today ruined the reputation of this theater to me & my family forever, note I have autism & adhd, so I do talk & act more impulsively than most, yet that is still not an invitation for the event that happened today. Me & my family were seeing lord of the rings : return of the king today, when a woman so rudely decided to overexaggerate my noise level & complain to the manager, who then notified us about the situation, instead of trying to de-escalate the situation or move these women to their correct seat (because in fact, they were not in their correct seat that they paid for). Sadly, this place is on a downward spiral in the food department. Movies are movies, but when you spend $14 on an order of chicken tenders with fries and this is that you get, you're literally RUNNING your clientele off. Movie Tavern has a new chef inspired menu. Before it was basically an Applebee's with a movie. Where they have improved in menu and food, they have disappointed us in service. We ordered the hummus and it was amazing and came out promptly. However our meals took a while and we wouldn't have minded so much, but my husbands southern fried chicken sandwich was still cold in the middle. My green chili Mac and cheese was piping hot. We waited for over 30 minutes with our server button on for a refill from two waiters who checked on us eventually. As I have said, the new menu is great... Do not go to this place to watch a movie. Parking lot is horribly lit. 3 security lights out and 11 cars broken into on the same night. I attempted to have a conversation with management and was told they do not feel that they have a problem. Seats and set up are great, but the rest was a fail. Not worth a 2nd chance. We got Nachoes with beef. There was the smallest drop of sour cream and salsa on the top. And you couldn't find cheese or meat til the end, both in small amounts. It was awful. The service also wasn't great. I turned my might on. After 15 minutes I left the theater to find a refill. I ran into a guy who helped. Tammara showed up another 10 minutes later to turn off my light. I asked for one refill on my coffee. I used fingers and said one. 8 minutes later 3 cups arrive... hmm... I love movie tavern. I especially love the $5 Tuesday movies. You see all the new movies and receive free popcorn if you are a member of the rewards program. I have learned if you want to see a popular movie you will have to order your tickets online. The seats are comfy and they recline. I think this theatre has spoiled me. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because the bathrooms are not maintained. So beware and the food is not great. I had a burger and the bun tasted like styrofoam. I usually have water and popcorn now. I love the idea of a place where I can watch a movie and eat and drink at the same time, but I was pretty let down by the experience my husband and I had here. PROS: The staff was pretty friendly, and our waitress was particularly helpful in answering all of the questions we had with the extensive menu. Reclining movie seats with legroom you wish you had on an airplane are the way of the future. NEUTRAL: The food is fine. It's about the quality you'd expect to get at an Applebee's or a TGI Friday's. For the quality, it was expensive. CONS: This place was gross. The bathroom was completely disgusting; there were (used) sanitary napkins on the floors, doors and toilet seats were missing from a large portion of stalls, and the trash cans were overflowing. Trash cans overflowing was actually a theme of the night as we noticed some more when leaving the theater. The floors of our theater had lots of food bits and trash on them from previous showings. Also, I get that the point is that you are served food during the show, but the general waitstaff seemed to have a lot of issues navigating in the dark. A couple of plates of food were dropped, and one unlucky aisle seat customer got an entire glass of water poured down her back halfway through the movie. Overall, for the price, my husband and I agreed we'd rather get take-out and watch a movie at home on the couch. The experience would have been about the same or better than we had here. And at least I'd know the bathrooms were clean then. read more

You have to order your food and drink before seating with the mobile app, which is a little strange, but once you get the hang of it, it's fine. A very poor experience! The procedure to order food was terrible. Didn't know about it until we got in our seats. Went to kiosk to place 5 orders for our family. Could not order from a server or a person. All either online or kiosk. People backed up, slow, no one to help in any fashion. Finally got order placed. Nearly $100 for three kids and 2 adults. Hard to work/modify the system. They delivered the ordered quickly. The two chicken fingers orders for the kids was missing. They are 5&7 and by this time were very hungry. Finally went back down to order 2 chicken fingers. The process would not let me as it closed out the 6 o'clock movie and was accepting orders for the 830 movie. It was about 6:40 at this time. I left the theater and went to a nearby MCD's and got a couple of kids McNuggets meals. Brought them back to the children. Not supposed to bring food in , no one tried to stop me. Food was expensive and mediocre at best. Really a terrible experience. We used to frequent the establishment often before the pandemic. Certainly will not return!! Not bad, very bad! read more

We came on a Tuesday and the movie was just 5.30 we ordered online and picked our seats and their was a 5.00 fee for doing your order online. The movie seats were comfortable and on Tuesday you get free popcorn. We came to see Toy Story 4 and were very happy with the movie. The servers come by quite often and that is a bit distracting. Decided to go here with a couple friends tonight. We tried to purchase our tickets to get reserved seating and their machines were down. We tried to pay early at the window register before going to get some drinks to make sure we could get some decent seats. Was told they don't reserve seats. So we left and went over to Drakes to have some drinks and sushi before the movie. When we arrived we wanted to see Bad Boys so we purchased the tickets. We went into the theater and by that time all the good seats were taken. So we went back out and switched tickets to Birds of Prey. When we walked in that theater most of the good seats were reserved. At tHis point I wasn't happy because we didn't get to see the movie we came to see because their systems were down and we were told we couldn't prepay and reserve seats. Either Way at this point we sat in the lower bowl which were horrible seats. We ordered our food which was chicken nachos and fried pickles. The nachos were horrible, the chicken tasted like imitation chicken out of a can. The fried pickles were what you'd expect. Not bad not great. The staff was friendly and replaced our nachos with popcorn but it wasn't good either. It didn't taste like theater popcorn. No salt and the butter had a weird taste. The only good thing about this place was the staff. If it wasn't for the staff I'd rate this a 1* experience. Ambiance 2* seating sucks Staff 5*. The host let us peek at seats so we knew to return the tickets. The cashier allowed us to replace tickets and the server replaced the horrible nachos with horrible popcorn. Not sure what it is but I'm just not super impressed with this place. We keep trying to give it a chance but have crappy outings here. The movies are typically fine, ticket prices are outrageous, although this isn't exclusive to just MT. The food quality/portions are nowhere near worth the costs. $17 for an appetizer of chicken wings. An APPETIZER. That's crazy. As far as I can see, one of the best priced items is the $5 Caesar salad. Guess the best thing to do is eat before or after seeing a movie here. Or go to a diff theatre. read more

You can order food and drinks from your seat and it is delivered but I did not see a menu. There was free popcorn on Wednesday. There was a sign to sign up and avoid service tickets fee. Updated review. Hadn't been here in two years due to our last experience (see below). It appears that the menu has changed for the better! I ordered the spinach and artichoke dip, and it was delicious! Warm toasted pita and freshly washed veggies made me feel compelled to update my previous review. The kids got a cheese pizza so I snagged a bite (for science) and it was delicious! I didn't have to bribe them to finish it, they cleaned their plates! The hubby got the tomato soup and grilled cheese and was pleasantly surprised at just how yummy it was! The servers apparently still haven't learned to clear dirty plates, so they missed out on 5 stars. I'm very excited to be able to add the Movie Tavern to our list of family weekend activities!!! Went to watch Suicide Squad and grab dinner. I ordered the chicken parmesan sandwich and my fiancé got chicken strips and fries. Both meals were disgusting and we both became sick during the movie. Server was very new and not well trained. He struggled taking our orders and never cleared the gross food that we couldn't eat....even after we asked him to take it. The food still isn't near five stars, but it's better than just the candy and pop corn at other places. The reclining leather chairs are a plus, but aren't all movie places changing to these comfy seats? I'm surprised that I've not fell asleep during a movie yet, but maybe that's because I usually catch a comedy. Don't drink too much, so you don't have to use the bathrooms. Recently saw "The Revenant" here and enjoyed the experience very much. This is a great choice for movies whether you choose to dine in or not! The reclining seats are very comfortable and we love the spacing between them. The attached table is a nice convenience and the lit call button really comes in handy when you need something but don't want to miss any of the action! Food wise we ordered the spicy fried pickles which were hot, crispy, and delicious and the mini me burgers (sliders on Hawaiian rolls with fries) which were also delectable. The burgers came with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and onion on the side and were great served on the King's Hawaiian rolls. We also had a free popcorn (for signing up on their website) and shared a Cherry Coke (with free refills). Movie Tavern is a great place to enjoy a movie, with or without the meal! As I write this review, I have mixed emotions. Amstar at Brannon Crossing is my secret hideaway for watching new movies and not being inundated with overcrowding and crying children. This theater is just a few miles from home so it's so convenient and easy to get to. The concession offers the typical goodies like popcorn, candy, nachos, and giant sodas/waters -- you'll pay an arm and a leg for them, but that's normal for any theater. If you make it to the first showing of the day, there's a matinee special which is amazing. Now, the reason for my mixed emotions... Amstar is becoming a Movie Tavern. Noooooo!!!! Et tu, Brute? Why have you stabbed me in the back!? I know I can't support you on my own, but Movie Tavern? I'm so sad. You probably can't tell, but I am not a fan of Movie Tavern. Uncomfortable seating, waitstaff interrupting the movie, and food that is overpriced & sub-par. With that said (thanks for reading my rant), I will give them a try once the conversion is made. I'll even go in with an open mind. I just hope they can live up to Amstar's legacy in my mind. read more
