I was the only one in my party who actually stayed warm throughout the show because the place was barely heated it seemed. we all wore our hats gloves and coats the whole time. my dad was freezing when we left and my fiancés toes were numb! otherwise four stars for sure. there were plenty of seats and a balcony also, it was a very nice inside, recently renovated. Instead of corner lamp, the main light source is a remote controlled LED light near ceiling - odd but it lit the bedroom well. Screws holding safety lock to door frame were loose so I used dead bolt. Bedding was clean. Large courtyard in the middle of the hotel had umbrella tables for relaxing, and a game or two. The gentleman's club across the road is a negative. Property is large and a little cumbersome to navigate. Indoor pool is on a separate wing. Pool and pool area is large with pool table and a few games so kids may enjoy. Breakfast is marginal. A few hot items (eggs and sausage) made it acceptable but little things missing (didn't find salt/pepper, only cereal milk is whole milk stored in gallon container by yogurt). Overall, I wouldn't bring my wife here. I felt all the black was hiding flaws and not my vibe. It's a cheap path for a family on a budget to experience a pool. I think other hotels in same price range offer a better experience.

I should clarify first that I may be the least qualified person to write a review here. I've spent all of 5 hours in Berea in my lifetime, although that short span happened to coincide with the Spoonbread festival. And you can count the number of times I've had spoonbread on one hand. But that's not going to stop me from reflecting on spoonbread as a culinary centerpiece. I don't think the Berea festival features a spoonbread bake-off or eating contest or food fight, but the festival does very rightly churn out large quantities of samples of the dish. The spoonbread I had here was very light and fluffy, almost best described as a Kentucky souffle. If it's lacking in depth of flavor, it more than suffices as a light, creamy conduit for melted butter. I've had spoonbread elsewhere at The Eagle, a regional chain, where the texture is a lot more hardy and grainy, probably from a coarser cornmeal. That was a very different dish. But what that had in common with my Berea cornbread experience is that in both cases, you can scoop it with a spoon, and in both cases, that lather of butter makes it a guilty indulgence. I don't think Berea can lay claim as the place of origin for spoonbread, but it does seem to be a lovely little town at the base of some lovely foothills. Easily worth a spoonful.

When we rolled in close to midnight, we were greeted by Arthur who was the friendliest and most helpful hotel employee we've come across in a very long time. Check in took less than a minute and we were in our sparkling clean room another minute later. The bed was so comfortable. In the morning, another smiling face greeted us warmly in the lobby. (Sorry, I forgot to ask her name!) The included breakfast was well above average and also super clean. Jennifer kept things stocked, never stopped cleaning, answered questions, and was yet another positive and friendly staff member. I don't know who hires the employees here, but they have a real knack for finding gems! Overall, this experience far exceeded expectations. We will be returning whenever our travels find us in the area!

He said he can't give any discounts and the rate is $199. That's crazy to me. I was checking in at midnight. I also signed up for Igh rewards but they said since i didn't sign up prior to my stay i can't get credit for the stay. Silly really, when you're trying to promote a rewards program but refuse to give the reward.
