We considered expanding a first floor powder room into a full bath and approached AirRoom and some others a couple years ago, basically told that we couldn't do it. Then my wife read an article about Regency and we called them for their opinion. Bruce sat with us, looked over the space, and said it wouldn't be a problem. He provided sketches of what we could do, for what we considered a fair price, and we agreed. Finished today! It's beautiful and we couldn't be happier. The crew that did the job really knew their stuff, showed up on time, put protection down and all around, cleaned up when they left for the day, and were generally top notch pros. Maciek and Roman were the two stars but others who came on one day or another were all good. My wife and I are happy that we used Regency and would recommend their services to anyone. read more

Bruce was very eager to do our project - things went very well for the majority of the project. There was a small blip when the wood floors were completed. Sam instructed the floor people to figure out a quick fix for which there wasn't one. The floor people were very upstanding & finished it properly, much to Sam's disinterest. We were also interested in several smaller outdoor projects that were to begin when the weather improved. We were promised that we'd hear back - never did. Someone else is doing the work now, as the summer comes to a close. While the work was great, the follow up is suspect. I guess the larger projects are of greater interest. read more

We worked closely with Sam, Andy, and Rafal on getting the bathrooms remodeled in my parent's summer condo; and we ended up being very happy with the results. Regency worked with us, using fixtures / materials we sourced from several different suppliers, allowing us to get exactly the look we wanted at a price lower than any other quote we had received for the job. The crew worked quickly, clearly were very skilled, and were cool enough to help me haul a bunch of the stuff in any time I brought it over. The results were great, and - according to our real estate agent - increased the value of the condo by a lot more than we paid for the renovation. After finishing up the bathrooms, we hired Regency for other miscellaneous jobs, and each time they got the job done at very fair prices. I'm preparing to sell my home 4 years after my subpar kitchen remodeling job. There was an update to the electrical code that required me to replace my outlets. The contractor that came in could not install GFCI outlets because the openings cut into the backsplash that Regency installed were incorrectly sized, not thoughout, and misaligned with the electric box in the wall. One outlet was simply uninstallable because the installation posed a short circuit risk. I have to close it up purely due to shoddy backsplash work. Sloppy backsplash work, terrible tilework at the edges, grout slapped on. This contractor cut corners because they were lazy and it shows in the details beyond just the backsplash. I finished a full home remodel over the last 6 years with different contractors. Regency was the first I contracted with and the one I regret the most. I DO NOT recommend this company. read more

Sam was very professional, responsive and reliable. He and the team worked with us to make sure we were happy with the way things looked. We were very impressed with one of the foremans, Bogden, whose strive for excellence in the finished work was remarkable. The only reason we don't give 5 stars (Bogden and Sam deserve it) is because we had some issues with the attitude and work of the first foreman, the project took longer than originally estimated, and there was some damage in the living room floor (Sam Paid for the repair, so they are very reliable) They deliver, they are reliable, and even if things are not smooth for whatever reason, Sam will be there for the customer. read more

We will go in another direction for our next remodel. Based on other proposals we had, I think we could have gotten the same quality work for 15-20% less cost. read more

I've been calling multiple places around the Chicagoland area to get quotes for my bathroom remodel. Regency had good reviews on Google so I gave them a call. Whoever answered the phone was completely unprofessional and acted like I had inconvenienced him by calling. He didn't even have his calendar out to let me know when they could come out for a consultation/quote and said he would call me back. Well it's been over a week and no call back. My complaint is in communication entirely. I'm sure this company has done quality work for other people assuming they have gotten in the door, but I'm really disappointed that a company with such excellent reviews and Service Awards has a poor idea of what customer service is. Short version: First appointment, I had to cancel. Called to reschedule. Same time the following week. Awesome. Following week, salesman calls me saying he's going to be 2 hours late, is that okay? It's not. I reschedule them for the following week. It's Good Friday, so they don't know if people will be around, we'll call to confirm in a few days. No call, but I did get a reminder email saying, "Hi, we're still coming!" And when I emailed to cancel this meeting, I received a curt email back essentially saying I sent an email, you read it, that's why I didn't call to confirm. This is the poor customer service that gives contractors a bad name. Business should make it easy for consumers to give them money. My experience with Regency shows me they don't have the standards I expect. They might be good enough for someone else. read more

Regency recently completed a large remodel of my mudroom, laundry room, and powder room. I could not be happier with the results! I met with several contractors before starting the project, but Bruce really stood out with his honesty and transparency. I knew exactly what to expect through the whole process. I especially enjoyed working with Iwona, the designer, who gave me several options for layout, and assisted me with a lot of general design advice. The workers were always on-time, friendly, and really listened to what I wanted while also offering valuable suggestions. The installation of everything was flawless, with extra touches that showed they really cared about the quality of their work. Sam managed my project and was always available for questions and concerns and regularly checked in with me. I have worked with many contractors in the past and have never found another company that was so well-managed and responsive; and equally as important, does such high-quality work. I do not recommend Regency Home Remodeling! Do not let the earlier good reviews sway you. This company is a mess and unprofessional. Bruce will sell you the stars and make a lot of empty promises but you will never see him again. Never once did he come to see the work that was being done nor rectify any of the issues we had. There is no project manager. On several occasions, I had contractors show up and I had to explain what work they should be doing that day. There was zero communication between the 5 people we had to deal with. They missed completing several items and had to come back on multiple occasions to rectify. read more

Regency/Mike Fisher was prompt in showing up for an estimate for a small bathroom remodel in Lincoln Park. Discussion was very professional. After two round of negotiations, agreed upon $11,000 fixed fee labor plus materials. When is came to the point of setting up a date to start the job, contractor response was "After some more, careful consideration, I am going to decline taking on your job. I apologize for the inconvenience, but I'd rather you be a little mad at me now versus a whole lot more down the road. There is too much uncertainty for me to produce this job." As you can imagine, this is very unprofessional and not expected from a reputable contractor. I picked regency over 4 lower cost proposals hoping a higher level of professionalism. Not only did they create the exact bathroom we wanted but handled the process of remodeling better than I could have expected. They helped us with suppliers and logistics, worked with us through changes and, most importantly, kept every promise they made. I had siding and a gutter put in by them in 2014 in the back of my house.Cost was 6,950 .I can't express to you how bad of a job they have done.Ive called them out twice since then and I was ignored at first then promised on several dates they would be out ,finally after a couple of months they showed up .Using my left over siding to replace my damaged siding from the product they used on gutter which caused rust on the siding.At that time damage only went down to 7 pieces of siding ,so the problem was never fixed here iam today, after a bad weekend if rain in a worse situation after there last supposably fix,down to a good 25 pieces of siding discolored. Can't reach them on phone and my siding is worse then ever .Talked to warrant company and was informed that they have several complaints with Recency and unfortunately they can't help me because it's not a manufacturer issue it's the installers issue.Please think twice before you use them,and be real careful with P,J.I do have several pics if anyone would like to see. read more

They finished my bathroom 2 years ago and are willing to come replace a fan for me at no charge even though it is a manufacturer warranty claim and no fault of Regency). Overall I would NOT recommend this company as I did not have the best experience working with them (mainly Bruce & Iwona). In hindsight, I would have preferred spending more money and working with another vendor. From the start, Bruce was 30 minutes late to our first meeting, which should have been my first sign that I should not use them. His list of estimates for all of my bathroom fixtures was way off; in fact the guy I worked with at Studio41 basically laughed when I showed him what Bruce estimated. And I didn't get high end stuff! There was only one item he was under on, the shower door. Everything else was OVER budget! I really think he just pulled these numbers from his head as they were nowhere near correct. So I ended up being way over my budget. If I hadn't already paid a $3000 deposit I would have backed out at that point and would have taken my business elsewhere. Now for the actual start of work. I had asked for my tiles staggered but they began to install them straight. Iwona then convinced me to keep them straight because of course they didn't want to go back and re-do the work and the tiles would have been ruined which the cost would have fallen back on them. Honestly in the end straight worked but it was still frustrating. They said the work would be done in 6 days (by Saturday) then Tuesday...then Wednesday...didn't end up being complete until the following Monday evening. When I came home on Wednesday night I found my door had been unlocked after they left (they also broke the key to my apartment so I had to get that fixed which they paid for but still annoying). I then realized that night the work was still not complete. I then emailed them to find out when they would be finished. There were some cracks in the grout, a shelf that was not put in the vanity as well as a scratch in the vanity, a messy paint job behind the toilet and ceiling, a space in the floor between closet and door, and some other minor details that needed to be fixed. When I emailed Iwona and Bruce about it they seemed a bit shocked that there was more to be done as if they thought everything was complete. They asked for a list of items and stated they would come back in two days to finish, NOT the next day! I was pretty upset to hear this when I found out (it's pretty difficult living in a 1 bathroom apartment without a shower for 2 weeks). When Iwona arrived on Friday with the worker she admitted to be embarrassed at the way my bathroom looked. When I returned on Friday the work yet again was still not done. And the things he did "fix" you could tell they were fixed and they looked VERY sloppy. They then sent a different worker out the next Monday to finish the work. All in all, though I am happy with the end result, I am not happy with how it took me to get there. If I had to do it over again, I would not use them, nor would I recommend them to anyone else. read more

We had two bathrooms gutted and retiled using Regency Home. I have a third bathroom that needs to be done and I will not be calling Regency Home Remodeling to bid on it. 1. Lacks attention to detail. In both cases there were errors in the quantity of tile they ordered. In the case of the master bath, it delayed the project a bit. Wrong color grout was used. 2. Brand new master vanity was installed and had some scratches/dents. 3. In both bathrooms some of the installed tile had scratches. 4. Both bathrooms went way over original timeframe projections. In one case they had a staffing issue whereby the person working on our project stopped showing up. 5. Paint jobs were subpar. If you want a good paint job, hire a painting company that will actually prep the walls. 6. Some messy corners with grout and caulk. 7. Their estimates for Customer Purchases Materials are too low. There were some areas whereby I knew I would be over estimates (e.g. we purchased glass tile and natural stone), but the drain recommended at their preferred vendor was $100 over their estimate. I felt unless you shop at Home Depot, you will go over Bruce' estimates. I picked white quartz counters because they should have been less than marble, and I was still way over budget. Do not expect name brands (eg Grohe) with their estimates. 8. I did not feel there was any project management or open communication regarding work being performed. 9. They spot set tiles in the 2nd bathroom. I'm afraid of the longevity of this bathroom. Google spot setting and tell your contractor not to do it. read more

The reason Regency Remodeling is not getting a higher review is due to total lack of communication and lack of respect for our time. Keith (the sales rep) and John the (site supervisor) had major issues communicating with one another. Keith consistently spoke to me in a condescending tone and continually asked the same questions over and over. He never checked with his site supervisor before asking me. This led to a great deal of confusion regarding answers to his questions especially due to repeating the same information numerous times to numerous people. In the beginning of the project, I had requested I be informed when the workers would be working and what time they would arrive so I could work around them. I am on disability so I am flexible to meet their schedule. I was told their schedule. The workers were consistently 1 to 2 hours later than the schedule I was given. John gave me the workers would not be working. The workers showed up at 8:30 am. They were always scheduled for between 8am and 9am but consistently showed up after 9 some days as late as 10:30. I was told our counter top delivery would be between 10 and noon. When I texted Keith at 12:30 that day, I was told the delivery would be here at 1 the delivery was running an hour late. They didn't show up until 1:45. I told Keith I was unavailable one day and that they couldn't work. He started calling and texting me at 8:45am that day and continued all day. I repeatedly told him via text that I was unavailable and he just kept asking a question I had already answered with John the day before. I finally told him I couldn't talk due to being in the middle of a medical procedure He told me I should have told him that and he then wouldn't have contacted me. I shouldn't have to tell him personal information to get him to respect my not being available. When I finally became upset he told me I was being mean to him and I had to contact the owner. After that, Keith became very sarcastic with me. I understood this would be a difficult process and we would be living without a kitchen and with the mess. I was not prepared for the lack of communication, condescending attitude and lateness of the employees. The workers were great when they were here. The final product turned out really nice due to our choices. read more

Bruce and his team at Regency did a great job on our kitchen remodeling project and we really enjoyed working with them! They were professional, friendly, and thorough. Their kitchen designer showed great attention to detail, the vendors they worked with provided quality materials, and the crew was outstanding. Communication was excellent throughout the process. They provided a proposal for the total cost up front, and although it was a little more than we initially wanted to spend, it was nice to have a guarantee that the project would not exceed this amount. We hired Bruce and team to do a roof tear off, build of new dormer, enlargement of existing dormer and turning 1 big bathroom into 2 smaller bathroom. Based on our experience we will not be calling Regency Home Remodeling for any future renovations needs. 1. The first week workers did not cover the roof properly prior to a rain storm and we had water damage all the way down to the basement. We were told the rain was unexpected and short and that something like this almost never happened to them before. We were told to just wait and that the buckled floor would right itself. It wasn't until we had a third party review of the damage and told Bruce we would just go through our insurance company that he took the time to properly dry out the floors and fix the ceiling (this was about 7 weeks into the renovation). 2. Lack of attention to detail. We had doors built in the wrong location, door headers missing, a drain that was more than 1/2 inch below the shower tiles, and flashing (chimney) not installed without us asking about it. 3. Regency remodeling reps were late to at least 2 inspections, leaving me or my wife to walk the inspector through the house. Other times people not at all familiar with our renovation would show up prompting one of the inspectors to ask if the regency rep had ever been to the house before. 4. Communication was good but mainly through email and text. In person meetings were limited or during weekday working times as Bruce and team saved the prime times for other sales meetings. This is understandable, however, this lack of personal attention also included the foreman so we spent most of the time playing the part of general contractor and working directly with all of the workers instead of through someone else. 5. We were a fairly needy client but felt that this was ok and probably normal as we 1) spent a small fortune (for us) on this reno and 2) had house rained in during the first week of construction. Instead of trying to smooth over the relationship we felt that we were consistently being blamed for being too demanding or picky. At the end of the project we didn't get one note or call thanking us for our business or asking if we were happy with everything. A rep from Regency just came by and asked for the last check. There has also been no follow up since the work to see how things are going. It's almost like they knew how badly damaged the relationship was. 6. Regency was not the cheapest bid to come in but part of what sold us was that they said their bid includes a cushion to absorb any unforeseen issues. Unfortunately, we were told that this contingency was all used up during demo. We were also not able to get an itemized list of estimates for each part of labor. Just a total with payment milestones. I highly recommend demanding this itemized estimate with any contractor going forward as not having it made it really hard to figure out cost savings when taking something out of scope. For example, we chose to use someone else for insulation, but had to rely on Bruce to tell us what the cost savings would be ($500?). I don't believe Regency is a bad company, they are just not capable of doing larger, more complex jobs. If you have a bathroom or kitchen where you'll be using all of their materials, cabinets, vanity, etc. then it's probably a pretty good experience. If you deviate from this, however, from my experience, your results are going to be more uncertain. Although all of our issues were addressed with time it seemed to only be due to repeated calls, emails, and withholding of final payment. All of the workers were extremely nice, professional and well intentioned but just seemed to lack direction from their leadership. I think this, more than anything, led to a lot of the mistakes and delays. read more

Services provided: gut rehabbed two bathrooms, refinished hardwood floors, installed new hardwood floors, replaced windows throughout house, replaced certain electrical and plumbing, installed electrical fixtures throughout house, repaired fencing in backyard, installed closet in master bedroom Review: Regency did a great job. At the onset of the project, Bruce came to our house to meet and discuss the project, and he listened to our wants, needs, and priorities. He created design pictures for our new bathrooms for our review and adjusted the designs until they were exactly what we wanted. He had a ton of examples of other work he had done and helped us through the decision process to ensure our final design looked great and was functional. Having these design services built in was huge because we didn't have to hire a designer separately, and Regency used their designs when submitting permit applications to the city. All of the Regency employees were respectful, punctual, and skilled. We are very happy with the work that Regency did for us. Our bathrooms are beautiful, as are our new and refinished floors. The work was done exactly to specifications. We bought a house and had only a couple of months to get this project done before moving in. Bruce and PJ worked diligently to get the proper permits for the work and got started as quickly as possible. The work was substantially complete before we moved in, and this required the crew working multiple weekends and long hours before our move. Bruce knew how important this was to us and ensured that the work got done on time. Bruce was our main point of contact throughout the entire process. Bruce was very responsive over email, text, and phone. We never had to wait on him to get back to us on anything, no matter how small the question. This was one of the most helpful aspects of the projects as we always felt that we could get Bruce's attention and have a conversation when needed. Bruce has a list of recommended suppliers. We found that the recommended suppliers are priced higher than you can find elsewhere, but the quality of materials and service were worth it in many cases. We ended up going with a mix of low-cost materials that we purchased ourselves at Lowe's, etc. and purchased other materials (bathroom fixtures, tiles) from Bruce's suppliers. Bruce sent his crew to pick up the materials regardless of where we purchased them from, so we didn't have to do this ourselves. Bruce's services were more costly than some other contractors we considered. However, we believe that the service we received was commensurate with the cost. Bruce stressed at the onset of the project that his prices were all-inclusive and he wouldn't be charging us for surprises encountered once they started work. This was true; the cost communicated up front was the final cost. Knowing that the cost would not change was important to us as our house is old and we weren't sure what the crew would find when they started their work. Any additional work that was required as a result of the city inspection process was done without any additional cost to us. Once the work was done, we had a few minor follow up requests for Regency, and they sent their crew over to address these items right away. For example, we purchased a faucet from Lowe's that was defective, and Bruce sent his crew over to diagnose the problem and install a new faucet free of charge. Overall, we are very happy with Regency's work and customer service and would recommend them without hesitation. read more

Roman was meticulous in making sure every detail was "perfect." We had a bathroom redone in the fall of 2016. It has taken me awhile to write this review, simply because of time and needing to get some distance from the project. I would agree with some of the other posts (Shawn and Heidi, for example) about communication being difficult, the need for a great degree of oversight and management by the home owner, and an inattention to detail. 1. Keith was very friendly and responsive. That said, I often (very often) found myself having the same conversation with him, the foreman, and the person who did the actual work onsite. These conversations would take place in person at night/after work, as well as via phone, email, and text throughout each day of the project - while I was at work. 2. I was frequently at Home Depot shopping for all kinds of parts and materials. I don't mean selecting tiles, fixtures, and the vanity, which I had already done. I mean that they directed me to purchase random parts of drain pipes, vents, and other miscellaneous items that I don't know anything about. I had thought that they would purchase these items for us and simply add them to our bill. 3. They didn't like the paint brand we selected (Behr), so we had to start over with that. They didn't like the tub that we selected (even though we had specifically asked which tub we should purchase prior to buying) so that was returned, too. I also had to keep going back to several different stores to find our tile in stock - due to their miscalculations of how many of which kinds of tiles were needed. 4. The work was not done well. Period. Our brand new vanity was cracked near two of the drawers and scratched on the side. They used grout instead of caulk along the tub, so it's already cracked/broken in several spots. The drain plugs in the sinks (double vanity) did not close properly (we fixed one ourselves and hired a plumber to fix the other one). The bath/shower plate is simply hanging on the faucet handle and not mounted to the wall at all. That's right, not even mounted. (We finally figured out that a missing set screw was the problem, ordered a new set screw, and are planning on installing it ourselves). They said they would not mount the floor trim behind our vanity because "no one would see it" (even thought the vanity is raised). We finally convinced them to install it, and it is not the correct length. The lights were installed upside down, and they said that in order to fix it they would have to open up the wall again and move the electrical box up. So, they are still upside down. The threshold was so badly installed (nails sticking up, the ends of the metal strip were bent, it did not run the length of the door) that we asked them to re-do it. The paint job was really quite poor; we had to ask for several touch-ups and there are still errors (white trim paint on our blue walls). The bottom half of our bathroom door (the interior) was totally destroyed by the end of the project. They were not going to fix it, and said it was probably our dogs . . . we have two small shih tzus. Not one other door in the house has any scratches on it. Bizarre. They finally agreed to repair the door. 5. The person working on our bathroom did not arrive or depart at the expected times. I know this because we have an alarm system and can track doors opening and closing. 6. The wall tiling (in the bath/shower) seems to be done quite well. We are pleased with this piece of the renovation. read more

I used Regency for a total bathroom remodel. We had walls moved out, new floor, shower toilet, vanity and sink. Bruce was our salesman he was great, we had an idea what we wanted and he made come to life. He also would come at least twice a week to check the work and to see if I had questions. Arthur was our worker he was also great, he always cleaned up at the end of each day, the quality of the work is excellent, and the work was completed earlier than expected. I used Regency for 2 bathroom remodels (down to the studs, starting from scratch), new wood flooring and painting. All I can tell you is that these guys know what they are doing. Bruce was awesome to work with. Onsite at least 2x per week to check the progress. The guys are great, clean and show up when they say they will be there. Overall, the process was seamless as we redid 2 bathrooms back to back. An invaluable part of the process that can't be overstated was that there was no break in the work as someone showed up and put in a full days work for the entirety of the process. There was no waiting and we could see progress everyday. Bruce put us at ease and managed the project and pieces well to keep things moving. Paul was fantastic as the foreman and primary contact throughout. And the crew was hardworking and provided high quality work. Won't be the cheapest quote in the bidding process and won't be the most expensive, but you'll without a doubt be happy with the end result and feel the value. Paul additionally sets you up with great vendors throughout. Gina and Arthur were great in helping us put our ideas together and bring them to life. We hired Regency to do a partial remodel of our master bath and are thrilled with the outcome. Bruce and his team were fantastic to work with. They were extremely attentive to our needs and took every step to make sure we were happy with the outcome of our project. Everyone who worked on the project was very professional and the work they did was exceptional. All of this was accomplished at a very competitive price - and the quote you get initially is the price for the whole project from start to finish, so there are no surprises or sudden add-ons as things are completed. I would NOT recommend Regency nor would I use them again. We hired Regency to do our bathroom gut remodel, but were unhappy with the process and the quality of the end result. We immediately liked Bruce after our first meeting with him, but our experience with him certainly changed our minds. Even though he was the most expensive quote we received, we decided to go with him because he offered us a discount (was still the most expensive), the contract included weekly meetings and design consultation/drawings (this was our first-ever remodel), and he said he could get it done in a month--before we moved in. As it turned out, Bruce never held weekly meetings with us or gave us updates unless asked (and LIED to me about being at the house all the time); we were never provided with drawings or even consulted about what design we had in mind; and the project was finished about 3 weeks late. Bruce tried to talk me out of design features I had my heart set on--because it would take him slightly longer to do--he can be argumentative and condescending. We weren't consulted on certain decisions that led to cheap or undesirable products being installed. The tile work was really sloppy--they clearly didn't want to take the time to do it right, so they left tiles with rough cut edges, chipped tiles, and absurdly uneven grout lines. There were smaller issues, too--divots in the wall where they messed up installing a towel bar, dirty fingerprints on the ceiling, etc. Needless to say, I was NOT impressed and dealing with Bruce made the whole process much more stressful than it needed to be. read more

This is a very high pressure company. I relate it to dealing with car salesmen selling low priced cars. After the initial meeting with Regency Home Remodeling at our home for Bruce to take measurements to remodeling our master bathroom, Bruce scheduled another meeting for two weeks later to discuss his proposal. I had to cancel the second meeting and asked Bruce to email me his proposal. Bruce would not submit his proposal via email, he would only submit it in person. He stated that he was not going to email a proposal that worked I met with four other remodeling contractors regarding the remodel of our master bathroom and never have I had to meet to discuss their proposal in person. The proposals are always emailed for review. I work with many different contractors in other fields and the proposals are always emailed for review. Bruce stated "if this is all about price, then they are not the company for me." To me that is high pressure tactics. I have a hard time believing people do not meet with more than one contractor to compare price along with quality of work and compatibility to work together. read more

We are very happy with all of the work that Regency did for us which included a kitchen remodel, custom shelving in the family room, two custom fireplaces, flooring on the first floor and basement, and a half bath remodel. I enjoyed working with Bruce - he was responsive and attentive. He and his team were very good at incorporating my design ideas, thus we got a lot of custom and unique elements. Greg and Michael did most of the installation work and were great. They installed a beautiful custom backsplash. Leo did a wonderful job on the floors; and when we had some bubbling (because of an uneven base from a previous owner removing a wall), he fixed it at no charge. All minor issues (crooked cabinet, etc) were promptly fixed. Bruce made recommendations for suppliers and often passed along his contractor's discount. We got about 5 quotes for the project and Regency's was average and reasonable. The quote had some wiggle room depending on our choices for granite, appliances, backsplash, etc. Bruce gave us a range for those items while the costs for the cabinets and their work was stable. Overall, it was a great experience and I would use them again. read more
