I just got my first tattoo done two weeks ago by Brian Hemming. I am an artist and had drawings of what I wanted for years, but never had the courage to go and get it done. I finally went into the shop one day on a recommendation from a friend, and made my consultation. Brian took my drawings, and understood what I was looking for. He respected my original art work, but also revised it into something amazing. It's a perfect collaboration between two artists and I am in love with it. I got it on my ribs, which everyone told me was a bad idea. But Brian was very careful and I didn't have any issue with it at all. I LOVE this place. Got my first tattoo there a few months ago and just went again to get my third (got my second somewhere else). The first time I went I didn't have the best experience, but this time was completely different! Dan gave me the most amazing tattoo and was so considerate as to my exact wants. I rarely write reviews, but this is a good time to start. I walked into the parlor on a Friday afternoon, and told the artist what I was looking for. He told me to call back after 6:30 PM. to check availability for tonight. Okay, cool. I had an appointment at the gym nearby, so I went to that and called back to check availability. They set me up for 7:15. I run over there, and was told that the person sitting in the lobby has taken my spot because they thought it was me. I'm going to tell you why this is impossible. I don't like to bring race into the mix but I'm the only black girl with an Afro who stepped into that shop asking for a quote. When I called and described myself, the guy knew who I was. The people sitting in the lobby were CLEARLY not me, they just decided to take them. Okay fine, that's life and I have to deal with it. But what was said after that, I can't accept. The guy comes over to me and flatly says, "We can't help you tonight". NO apology, or offer to come in the next day because you gave up my spot. I work in hospitality and let me tell you, the lack of empathy was ridiculous! You're running a business and I'm willing to pay for your services, so how about you try being more hospitable, when you were the one that made the mistake! If I had gotten ANY form of apology or at least the sense that you felt bad, I would have come back today. Instead I went to Stingray, who did an awesome job and it took my artist 20 minutes. You could have spared 20 minutes yesterday and had an extra 150 dollars in your pocket. Instead, I will never, EVER come here again, or refer anyone to this shop. That tattoo meant a lot to me and after the week I've had, you crushed my night. You never know why someone is looking for a tattoo, so keep that in mind the next time you tell someone, "I can't help you tonight". read more

I am a newcomer to Regeneration. I came over to get my back piece finished by Brian, who recently moved there from Pino Bros. Ink. Nothing against Pino, the staff there was fantastically friendly and helpful and made me quite comfortable, but my future work will be with Brian so I'm putting this review under Regeneration, as that is where he is now. Brian made a beautiful work of art out of a couple of pictures of a specific type of penguin and a Chinese checkerboard. (Who a friend of mine who works at the Aquarium knew right off the bat when she saw my ink that they were indeed little blue fairy penguins).. The tattoo itself is something that is extremely personal and important to me and I definitely feel that Brian took this into consideration while designing it. He was so pleasant to work with and paid attention to every detail that I wanted. (And then some! Penguins playing Chinese checkers is not an every day request, which seemed to fuel his motivation even more on the piece...He definitely enjoyed creating it and tattooing it on me just as much as I enjoyed having it permanently etched into my body!) The outcome was even better than I anticipated. Seriously, it came out so beautiful that certain people I showed it to were moved to tears and I can't walk anywhere without someone pulling me aside and commenting on it. Even people who don't care for tattoos have had nothing but great things to say. The piece took only 4 sessions of 1 to 2 hours each. The price was more than reasonable and as I stated, the attention to detail and Brian's willingness to really listen to what it was I wanted, while at the same time incorporating his own creative touches was SUPERB. Even the checkerboard itself has the exact number of pieces as a real Chinese checkerboard! I would and have already recommended him to anyone I know who is looking for some new ink. I had two tattoos from other places previously but this was by far the biggest and most important piece I could have ever gotten, so naturally I did some checking around before I happened upon him at Pino Bros. And I am soooo glad that I did. I will definitely go back to him for any future work that I want done. He did a brilliant job and was very thorough as far as after-care instructions and follow-ups to see how it healed and everything. read more

Terrible service. Went in to get a matching tattoo with my sister, and we were treated very rudely. They split us up between two tattoo artists even though there were no other customers there, which kind of defeats the fun of getting a matching tattoo with someone. I have a tattoo on my side already and I wanted the new one right under it. Frankie was helping me and he was putting it on very crooked and when he was about to attempt for the third time he told me this was the last try on putting the outline on. That pissed me off. I am here paying $150 a piece for these matching tattoos that are extremely small and he isn't going to keep trying until it isn't crooked? When i told him it still wasn't correct he threw a fit and refused to tattoo me. At this point my sister was already being tattooed and I didn't even get to help make sure hers was put on correctly. Someone else had to step in and help me and he was able to put it on correctly after the second try. We were very disappointed, our matching tattoo experience was extremely stressful and we were examining our tattoos the other day and realized THEY ARENT MATCHING. parts of mine are filled in, where on my sisters it isn't. So this place treats its customers like shit, and cant even do a matching tattoo the same on two people. That is why we shouldn't have been forced to split up. Especially since we are young looking girls they treated us like we didn't know what we were doing when my sister and I both have other tattoos. DO NOT GET YOUR TATTOO HERE. read more

I recently visited Regen on 5/1 for a flower tattoo on my foot. I brought my idea to Edwin a week before and he drew up something encompassing all of my ideas and included a few of his own and then emailed me a sketch 2 days before my appointment to see what I thought! He did such a beautiful job from the outline to the shading and coloring. The shop is CLEAN & funky and the people are laid back and funny. I was charged less than what I was quoted. I came to Regeneration to get my custom tattoo done.. the quote and pricing was just right unlike stingray tattoo which is down the street. Regneration has some really laid back chill people. My artist was Edwin and he did a sick ass job on my tattoo. I pretty much gave him couple of ideas of what i want and let him did his thing. My tattoo actually got messed up when it was in its scabbing phase so i went back to Edwin... he squeezed me in in one of his days and he got it fixed for me. Really cool guy. If you guys meet him congratulate the man cause he just got married. I hear stories about the other people too...Cathy is a sick artist if you look at her profolio you will know what i mean.. I found this place on yelp and decided to give it a shot as I've been looking to get some ink for a while now. I chose Cathy to do my piece after looking at the books since it seemed like most of her work fit what I was going for. Everything was excellent from start to finish. I'm a little bit skittish with needles, but Cathy put up with me throughout and guided me through it. I found the rest of the staff to be friendly and helpful as well. I got my three first tattoos here in one go and they were SO NICE to me. The tattoos look incredible - Edwin was my artist, and he was incredibly quick and *so* understanding when my card was declined and I had to go through a lot of trouble (including calling my mom) to pay him. After all that I forgot to tip and I feel so bad, especially after they were all so kind!
