After searching and searching and doing research on various artist throughout MA...I settled on Seaport Tattoo. I really liked the portfolio's from Seaport from all the artists but , what I saw out of Bruno's portfolio on IG really caught my eye, so I gave him a shot. Man I picked a winner. Bruno is the absolute man. He really cares about his work and his art and I am ridiculously happy about the work that I had done by him. Ok I was searching high and low for the perfect Tattoo company and artist and I finally found it in Seaport Tattoo. Not only are you in one of the hippest and most popular cities (and my fave) in Boston, but you are also right across the street from GrandTen Distillery, a place that is fun and great for groups and much needed after getting your first tattoo. Shybird is around the corner as well as Castle Island Brewing company. So once you are completely head over heels with your new tattoo, you have tons of options for a drink and some food. My tattoo I got is shown below and I couldn't be happier about it. I didn't realize how expensive tattoos are nowadays, but it was well worth it. I also know that they book out in advance. I called to make an appointment in Jan/Feb timeframe for an April date. I came to Seaport Tattoo Company looking specifically for Mike Graciale based upon researching various artists within the Boston area. My aim was to fix a rather bland and unfinished looking "As Above, So Below..." spiritual symbology-riddled rib cage tattoo that another shop had recently done for me, and add a significant amount of depth, interest and clout to it. My initial appointment with Mike went wonderfully (and ended with him being kind enough to tattoo an Air Sign symbol on the back of my arm), and I was legit counting down the days until my rib tat would be reworked by Mike. Flash forward to yesterday morning when my appointment happened, and holy moley am I STOKED with the design. Mike effortlessly incorporated all symbology that I hoped to include, and even went so far as to add shading and design elements that I hadn't even realized the tat needed! He is truly gifted at what he does, he really enjoys his craft and it sincerely shows, and he is just an insanely talented artist (in addition to being a good person). If i could leave a negative star i would. Came in for a walk-in, a flower in red, and the hillbilly man in front was insanely rude to me. Told me that he does not recommend red tattoos, AFTER i told him i have many many tattoos in red already. Telling me that they won't last long in the future and pretty much berating me for having red tattoos and seeking more. As an artist, that's not your concern and to continue to imply red tattoos are "terrible" while i only have red tattoos and am seeking to PAY to get another here is just really dense. Everyone in the shop just seems like there's a screw missing in their brains. The only thing going for it is that it seems like a nice shop but i would never come here, they're likely very inexperienced as well given that they can't work with simple color. I came into Seaport Tattoo for my first tattoo! I was able to quickly book an appointment with Mark Vata (@vata.vision_ink on insta). The place was very clean and relaxed, and my friends came with me for the appointment and were able to play some pool while they waited. Mark was very accommodating throughout the design process as well as during the actual appointment itself, and made sure that he got every detail right. He did an incredible job and I couldn't be happier with how it came out! He also made sure that I knew what to do to care for the tattoo during the healing process. Hi, my lower leg was tattooed a year ago, but was stitched very deep and was healing very long, due to that I lost quiet a lot of the black color and decided to let the black be filled up. Mike said it would take two to three hours and is 250 to 300$ depending on the time. I thought this is fair but had to split in a one hour and a 45 min session. The first time I had to pay 2/3 means 200$, Mike was very nice and I wanted to support his art and bought a small picture of his paintings for 50 $ and gave 20% tip. Next time it took only 45min and I was asking if the 250$ he suggested in the beginning is o.k. as the time was shorter than expected. He totally disagreed and asked if his work wouldn't' be worth the money and I could come for free if something is missing, as it is one fix price to cover. As he said in the beginning 250-300$ for 2-3h and I had already paid 200 + 40 tip +100 + 50 for a small painting= 390$ for 1,75 h and a small picture I thought this is fair and enough and did not extract tip him. After having made a last appointment of approx. 15 min filling some black areas, he suddenly said he could do it, but wants extra 100,-$. I said this is not what was agreed but he said he didn#t like how it ended and I did not tip last time. He claimed that it was cheap as he did not charge full price off 200$/h only 150$/h and I answered there is a difference in creating art or refilling black areas. All in all I paid 340,-$ for a not finalized filling of all black in 1,75h means 194,-$ per hour plus a little painting of 50,-$. I did not want to get ripped off for another 15 min for 100,-$=400$/h and left very disappointed. The stitching was good, the workspace clean but Mike totally not reliable to what was made up and had changed also both dates of appointments short time notice plus becoming unfriendly and greedy for money in the end. . As though the receptionist was really nice, its unfortunate that I couldn't get accommodated sooner. Ive been trying to book my appointment since the beginning of December. I really wanted to try this place out, but Im not going to reschedule three more time, and wait another whole month. I was so excited, very patient, I come far to go here, and to keep hearing that it has to be reschedule again is really disappointing. Prior to my appointment, all of my tattoos were done by the same woman in New Hampshire but scheduling conflicts and distance were an issue, so I figured I'd go in a different direction. My original artist set a pretty high bar. I checked out two other places and went in for consults, even placed a deposit at one but ended up abandoning it because I felt like the artist didn't really want to do it. A year later, I ended up at Seaport Tattoo and after checking out everyone's portfolios and work on Instagram and their website, then decided to consult with Mike. I got a way better vibe from that consult than I did the other ones; he was engaging from the start and offered suggestions to work on embellishing/building around my original tattoo. He and the rest of the staff were super chill and engaging, even after having to re-schedule several times. The big takeaway from the place after overhearing the conversations around me is that the folks are inclusive and body-positive which are two things we all could use more of these days. Mike works cleanly and efficiently, executing the tattoo well with attention to detail. One thing I didn't have to ask or point out to Mike, but he did anyway was the way he sized and placed the tattoo work. After he was finished, the tattoo work on both my arms have practically the same size and coverage, being evenly spaced away from the borders of my back tattoo. So Pro. Don't waste your time, go somewhere else. Just received the second call to cancel hours before my appointment. According to Helena when asked if Bruno cancels often, "ya kinda". Very disappointing. They made it clear when I originally booked my appointment there would be no refund of deposit for cancellation but it's ok for them to cancel, that doesn't seem fair. Helena recommended another artist but I've lost faith in these people and am not going to rearrange my schedule a third time only to be cancelled again. This is hands down the best tattoo shop & tattoo experience I have had in my life. My girlfriend and I were in Boston to celebrate our anniversary and decided to get some little tats. We searched on yelp and they did not steer us wrong. We walked in and were immediately greeted by the beaming receptionist. He changed the jewelry for me, using all the precautions he would if it was a first time piercing. This is also the third time I had to get new jewelry for my nose because the studs keep falling out. I waited over a month for an appointment with Bruno. The day before my appointment, I received a text to confirm the time. The day of my appointment I got a call from the shop telling me they needed to reschedule because the prior client needed more time. They rebooked me for 7pm that night. Great. I get a call 5 minutes later to cancel that appointment and reschedule. None of the options they had the following week worked for my schedule. The only option they gave me then was to cancel my appointment but they keep my deposit.
