I don't know where to start. My mom has been pushing me to see her for a long time. I live an hour away so I was hesitant. Without explaining my entire medical history to the world, I was on synthroid for hypothyroidism. I never did feel better taking this drug for 3 years. I just thought this is what I'm supposed to feel like. A previous endocrinologist I saw in 2013 just threw me on it because I had a family history. It turns out I DON'T have a thyroid problem or hypothyroidism. She is so wise and takes her time with you. Dr. Walker explains everything out. Very telling that all of the low reviews are of patients who don't meet criteria to see her, or want input on other health conditions she doesn't treat. I have some medical background and Dr. Walker's knowledge of the thyroid is unparalleled by endocrinologists and general practitioners I've worked with, even though she's a surgeon. She is also the kindest doctor I've gotten treatment from. People don't always see the behind-the-scenes that makes most doctors rush, but she seems to rise above the burn-out that is so common in other doctors and seems genuinely happy to be working to get my thyroid levels right. She was able to interpret the complicated thyroid lab values for me so they didn't seem complicated anymore. She is very straightforward and kind. read more

Horrible experience. She refused to treat me for my thyroid as she said she will not see lyme patients. Even though my thyroid care has nothing to do with Lyme disease and she would not be treating Lyme disease. Discriminatory and even illegal. Very nasty on the phone. Even though she had never met me and had never seen my labs, she said: "trust me, I am NOT the doctor for you." I found this just.... shocking to hear from a medical provider, especially with no consultation. I have been planning to complain to her licensing board. She cannot discriminate based on what other diseases a patient has. read more

Current patient...Dr. Walker is thorough...but I am questioning her input or lack there of regarding dental x-rays. . My current dentist requires x-rays every two years now. My last dental x-ray was in 2016...so I did agree to have one done now in Aug 2020 at my last cleaning wearing the vest and thryroid shield. It was my understanding dental x-rays should only be done for special exceptions...not routine cleanings...As this was explained to me as I was a former patient of Dr. Edward Paloyan. I asked Dr. Walker's nurse to let Dr. Walker know of the situation and to please provide me a letter so I can show my dental office that x-rays to only be done if truly needed for an issue. The nurse called me back and said although Dr. Walker agrees to avoid dental x-rays only if truly needed...she will NOT give me a letter as she does not want to interfere with my dental treatment.. Any input others may have...I look forward to responses. read more

I saw Dr Walker about 8 years ago when she was at Loyola Medical Center. I can't say enough about her professionalism and her personality. I went in for uvulaplasty (sp?) since my uvula would swell and almost choke me. She numbed me up carefully (as I am fearful of the feeling of my throat closing) and used a laser to remove most of the uvula. She was always consciously aware of my concerns and always asked me if I was ok. She would joke around and make me feel at ease when she knew I needed it. When I left, she asked if I needed pain meds. I said no, and boy did I regret that. Later, I called her emergency line to ask for pain meds and she responded immediately and without hesitation. I would travel hours to see her again if I needed to. She is absolutely wonderful. read more

Sad to hear I cannot even make an appointment because I'm not a surgical case according to the person handling phone calls. I called to make appointment and they wanted all the names of people I referred and people I knew that goes to their office. I had not realized I was interviewing as a patient. I could have said more but figured I will go over all details of my exhausting thyroid at time of appointment. Dr. Walker has really helped people I know and I have been giving her name out for years to my patients and others. I was disappointed to say the least. So I rate the phone call a one star because I did not like how the screening process was done. Thank you. read more

This doctor's office goal is to screen you out! Never made it to see Dr. Walker even though I had a referral. She only accepts BCBS. This means that even if you are willing to file out of network and pay initially out of pocket, she still will refuse to see you...very discriminatory behavior. May poor reviews due to this and it is all true. read more

I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Walker & her staff. The office girls are super nice along with the office manager who is the greatest. Dr. Walker is very good to her patients, she takes her time with each one, she is good at explaining patient's diagnosis. She even offers samples of thyroid medication to her patients. I would highly recommend this doctor for thyroid biopsys or surgery. She maybe difficult to get into to be seen, but so worth the wait. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Walker for several years. Without a doubt, she is the most thoughtful doctor I have ever met. She always makes you feel comfortable and lets you ask lots of questions. I've had her first appointment of the day and her last--and I've never felt rushed. She walks you through tests, results, and plans. I wouldn't trust my thyroid with anyone else!! She's even offered to look at my ears when I had an ear infection (she is also an ENT). The other staff is nice and helpful as well. Very highly recommended. read more

I wish I could actually tell you how this Dr. is but I could not even get her office staff to call me for an appointment. The first time I called was Tuesday shortly after 9 am. I spoke with a person who answered the phone and told me someone would call me back later that day. No one called. Wednesday I called mid day and they said they were still returning calls from the weekend and I would hear back later that day or on Thursday. They also told me at that point that she was booking 9 to 12 weeks out for new patients. Thursday came and went - no call so at 4 pm I called again and asked if I was even ON the call the back list. The person who answered said she would have someone call me to confirm that. No one called. Here it is Friday at 3 and I still have not gotten a call back. Who runs a business this way? If this is how they treat you before you are even a patient I don't want to be one. I work in an office too - we have a 24 hour window for response to a client. This is ridiculous. Dr Walker - your gate keepers are going to ruin your business. read more

Dr. Walker has been my doctor for at least 10 years. She was called in as a specialist for treatment when I was hospitalized for epiglotitis, which is serious and could potentially be life threatening. I have continued to use her for treatment of other issues. She is professional, knowledgeable, and personable. I would highly recommend her to anyone without reservation. read more

my review is only based on one factor, insurance. unfortunately this MD will be out of reach for most consumers. this practice only accepts BLUE CROSS BLUE SHIELD PPO. YES one of, if not THE most EXPENSIVE medical insurance today. Under the Affordable Care Act BCBS PPO with most employers is over $1000 for a family per pay period. I completely understand that is the choice of the MD, I do not have a problem with that. But when so many people; both strangers online and people I personally know, HIGHLY RECOMMEND this MD only to find out that my wife is unable to see her, well its just unfortunate. sigh... read more
