I am a medical secretary in the medical field and so maybe I expect too much. Or maybe I deliver great patient service, and when I am a patient I expect to receive the same. I am so sick of going to places and finding out the Doctor is awesome, but his/her staff is horrible.
I was referred to Dr. Gleimer Jr. for chronic back pain and was told he would be able to diagnose me by looking at the MRI's and X-Rays and would be able to help me for my chronic condition. But since this is a specialists office, I had to wait a long time for my appointment. I called November 28th for my appointment. They have me an appointment of December 28th. Then I was called the week prior, and was told "oh that was a mistake, his scheduled shouldn't have been opened; we can put you in on January 18th." Now, I have been out on disability and reduced scheduled leave and was awaiting this appointment to make a decision about my care. So I begged and pleaded to be put in somewhere else, "let me just come by and drop off my MRI's," I pleaded. They still said there is nothing we can do it has to be January 18th.
Fast forward January 18th. I arrive at their Turnersville, NJ office. Vince is the receptionist and he's great. I fill out my paperwork (took me like 30 minutes and I know my stuff, anyone else it would take longer, with my appointment scheduled so far out, one would think they could have mailed that to me so that I could have had it completed for them when I arrived.) Anyway, doesn't take but maybe another 10 minutes to get pulled back (not bad) I'm really not impressed by the office. But that's ok, I'm thinking its just outdated. The nurse has me undress and gown up and Dr. Gleimer Jr comes in in about another 5 minutes. Dr. Gleimer was very thorough in his examination, goes over all my MRI's and X-Rays, gives me a diagnosis for my low back and hips. I only had X-Rays on my neck, and he thinks he sees something (that Booth Radiology didn't). He gives me a treatment plan that I can comply with. But I need him to complete my disability paperwork and then tells me he doesn't do paperwork and that's its my primary's job to do that. I don't agree, but don't argue. (I should have).
Later that evening I get in touch with my primary tell her everything I learned, and discussed my disability paperwork. She stated I am in Dr. Gleimer's care now and its his responsibility. Which I agree; he is now the treating physician.
Next morning, I call and apparently get put through to the woman that does the disability paperwork. She is completely absurd!!!!!!! She is unprofessional!!! She doesn't listen to anything I say, she interrupts me through the entire time I am trying to explain the situation and what I needed. She is absolutely horrible! I explain to her that I am not a Workers' Comp case that I am private insurance patient, and that I needed this. She continues on about how Dr. Gleimer's notes do not say anything about putting me out of work. I try again to explain the situation and she doesn't hear any of it. I ask her to have Dr. Gleimer call me. I never heard anything from Dr. Gleimer
While I was in the office with Dr. Gleimer he dictated my note and told them to CC me. I never received it. When I called the office, Selena told me the note doesn't have any CC's on it or directions to send it to me. So now I have to go out of my way to go pick up my treatment notes. Part of his treatment plan was injections. His scheduler Michelle was supposed to call me; she never did. I had to call her. When I did, she tried to be funny and explain she didn't have anything on me, and she needed to figure out who to go smack. (I think I have an idea of whom.)
I am now back to work full time and I'm not better, I am still in lots of pain. But with no doctor completing my necessary disability paperwork, I cannot take off because I will lose my job. By the way, Dr. Gleimer was right, there was something wrong with my neck. I just picked up the report. I have two herniated discs and a narrowed nerve canal (pinched nerves). But he doesn't know any of that, because his unprofessional, absurd, horrible, nasty, deplorable office staff has not told him I have called multiple times to speak with him. read more
