I've got to say that we were not happy with our experience, we were ecstatic! The food from the appetizers to the main course were on point. We had the crab dip and Va country ham board. Both were excellent and were not small portions. For our main we had the crab cakes and the ribeye. We are super particular on both and they hit a home run on both. The drinks were better than good as well. I love the black Manhattan and my wife had the blood orange margarita. Definitely try both. Service was top notch as well. One of the best sit down restaurants to eat in the area (which doesn't say much because there's nothing here compared to Nova- but food is still good). Would gladly come back. -Brussels sprouts: delicious. Roasted and topped with parm, bacon, and balsamic glaze. As with all Brussels some bits are charred and a little too toasty for me but really yummy. -Marry me chicken: it's rich- a lot of cheese and cream. Portion is huge. Tangy sundried tomatoes cut the richness and was actually tender. I enjoyed the better as leftovers and I don't know why. Mashed potatoes creamy, buttery delicious. I don't like spinach so I got it with a side of green beans. -Green beans: good but cooked and seasoned unevenly. I still liked it -Grilled mahi tacos: I enjoyed this the most. The taco shell isn't a taco shell, more like a flatbread or naan toasted. It has a variety of textures and flavors - pumpkin seeds, jalapeño slaw, avocado sauce, and pico. We were on a mini vacation in the area, and I decided to make reservations here for a dinner date one night! Region's 117 is opened Wed - Sunday, so plan accordingly! It is in a retirement community, which we didn't realize. It was pretty busy at 5:30 pm on a Wednesday! There were some big groups there, I'd recommend a reservation! We were shown to our table right away. Our waitress came by and poured us waters. She took our order all at once (which we love!) We got the crispy brussel sprouts, the pretzel crab dip, and a side Caesar salad. My husband got the gaucho steak and fries while I opted for the catfish etouffee. The apps came out pretty quickly. The brussel sprouts were our absolute favorite. Amazing flavor and textures. Highly recommended. The crab dip was fine, I think we're a little spoiled with crab in Baltimore, so we probably wouldn't get that again. The Caesar salad was good - just a classic Caesar salad. We could've used a bit more dressing. We did get boxes for our leftovers - portions are hugr! Our entrees came a little later, they had some big parties so we weren't too stressed. When the food came out, we were in awe. The etouffee smelled absolutely amazing. Apparently they just brought it back on the menu, and everyone I talked to mentioned how it's their favorite dish and they were so excited it was back. And I can see why. The fish was a HUGE slab and fried perfectly. The sauce was mouthwatering. It had so much flavor and was just SO good. There was a good amount of shrimp and sausage as well. My husband's steak wasn't bad. He loved the sausage it came with. We do wish there was a little more chimmichuri sauce. We ended up also getting dessert because we couldn't resist. We got the creme brulee and the croissant bread pudding. My husband devoured the creme brulee himself. I managed to scrap the dish as the end for a bite, and it was very good. Just a strong standard creme brulee. The croissants bread pudding had a huge scoop of ice cream. And it was just perfect. I could eat that all day. Portions are huge and for a very reasonable price! Our waitress was the absolute best as well. Super friendly and knew what we needed before we even needed it. She was quick and efficent as she also had some really large parties. TL;DR: Food poisoning. Would not return. Food (1/5): If I had written this review while still at the restaurant, I would have given the food a 5/5. The flavor was amazing, the portions were generous, and everything tasted great. But about an hour after eating, a few of us got food poisoning. The pulled pork sandwich and the salmon dish made people really sick. Thankfully, no one needed to go to the hospital, but it was an unpleasant experience. Drinks (3/5): The drinks were solid. The sangria was excellent, but one of the other cocktails was overly sweet. Nothing terrible, just not particularly memorable. Desserts (5/5): All of the desserts were fantastic. You really can't go wrong with ice cream and a well-made sweet treat. Ambiance (4/5): This part was a bit odd. This was my second time, and it was another good experience. First time was a friend dinner with mimosas and the short rib grilled cheese. This night was another friend dinner with red wine and the (perfectly cooked, medium rare) steak and frites. The tartar was thick and creamy and had a nice tartiness to it. Fries were simpler, not over seasoned and not greasy. The Wagyu burger was really special! That thing hit the spot! She managed our large group with ease, professionalism, and a warm personality that made everyone feel valued. She anticipated our needs before we even asked, kept everything organized, and made sure drinks and meals were served quickly and correctly--all while keeping a smile and a cheerful attitude. And special shoutout to Lucas who was amazing working behind the scenes taking our group pictures and so gracious offering to help with anything we needed so we could fully enjoy the evening. Off of Andrew Jackson Highway in an upscale 55+ community with all the upscale amenities the Regions 117 has a grand entrance into a high-ceiling foyer where we checked with the host to be seated. Plenty of openings early afternoon on Saturday so we sat right down. Drink menu is big and fancy. Lots of wines too. Not really a drinker but the Strawberry Sangria was nice. Fresh Berries and real strawberry juice! Who knew that was a thing? Others had a Stella from the tap and an Apple Cider beer which I got a taste of and was surprised how good it was. A lot of the food items on the menu were spicy. Not really a spicy eater. Wow, am I boring? lolz As I was about to say, the food... a nice selection. My wife and son had the burger special. Wagyu beef with bacon and a cheddar cheese sauce, onion rings, waffle cut sweet potato fries. My description there is way less fancy than the menu and the burgers that came out were glorious. My daughter in law had the Spicy Chicken sandwich.That was an unbelievably well put together plate of oh my goodness right there. I got the roast beef and mashed potatoes. As I ordered it I thought, "I am not really the typical meat and potatoes guy", but I just felt like I had to get this item. No regrets. The beef was like a rectangular block of brisket that had been slow braised to fork tender magnificence. Potatoes were good. Carrots were fresh and well seasoned. All complimented with a nice demiglace sauce (not gravy thank goodness). Portions were surprisingly large. Too full for all the great desserts that were available but we shared a fresh chocolate chip cookie with ice cream. The cookie was backed to order and served in the little iron skillet it was baked in awesome vanilla ice cream slowly melting into it as we devoured all that sweet yumminess All the food is very fresh and prepared in house. I counted 10 kitchen staff working the line at one point. Service is good. Place looks new. Price-wise? Bring some bank. Luckily for me, I got a free ride on this one because my amazing son and daughter in law footed the bill for my wife's birthday. Let me say that the taco was out of this world and very delicious. The taco had a tangy taste which was great. For the entree, I had the millionaire burger plus a fried egg with a side fries and let me just say that you get the bang for your buck when it comes to portion size. The flavor was pretty good and the fries was a bit too salty. We decided to get some dessert to end the evening so we ordered the Southern Style Butter Cake À LA Mode. I've visited Region's 117 twice as my friend's parents reside in a nearby Trilogy home. The service consistently impresses me. The cocktails, which vary frequently, are really good. During my last visit, I opted for the cob salad while my boyfriend ordered a pizza. Both dishes were enjoyable, although I wished the chicken in my salad had more seasoning and was less dry. Brussel sprouts were amazing a great way to start our evening. I ordered the ribeye which was cooked perfectly, one of those melt in your mouth steaks that you want to savor and take your time enjoying. Unfortunately I didn't get to enjoy it as such. My partner ordered the wood fired steak salad with no tomatoes. Her salad arrived with tomatoes and heavily peppered. She does not eat pepper and we requested a new salad with no pepper and no tomatoes. The replacement came with tomatoes and again with pepper. At this point we let the manager know we would pay for our drinks and we were done. I was fortunate that my partner insisted that I eat my meal. Onion rings were nice, large slices with real onions, the green beans a little soft but okay, buttermilk mashed potatoes were good and the steak as mentioned above. A great cooked steak. I will have it again, but will request the peppercorn demi glaze in a container on the side. Everything on the plate tasted like pepper taking away from the natural flavors of all the food. I have eaten here on several occasions and just wish the restaurant would do the following to make my experience better. Provide a breadbasket. I think with the prices charged this should not put a dent in your bottom line. Provide an individual cup of coffee, not the French Press. Many people don't like strong coffee. If you can have coffee on Sunday's, why not the rest of the week. I wanted dessert, but I wanted a good cup of coffee with my dessert. I had neither when I found out about the French Press.
