Worst hospital experience I've ever had…read more I have been here for over 10 1/2 hours. When I first arrived, they did bloodwork and a urine test. More than 10 hours later, I still have not received any explanation about what is going on or what the results are. I was also sent for an ultrasound of my testicles. After returning to my bed, I continued to wait with no update from a doctor or nurse. My wife asked several nurses who my assigned nurse was and if someone could please give us an update. She was met with a rude response of, "Oh, we don't know." At one point, I needed to use the bathroom. I cannot walk, so I asked a nurse for a male urinal. They handed it to me and then told my wife that she needed to help me use it, rather than having hospital staff assist me. The lack of communication, compassion, and basic bedside manner has been absolutely unacceptable. When a patient has been in the hospital for more than 10 hours, cannot walk, and is waiting for answers, they should not have to repeatedly chase down staff just to find out who their nurse is or what is happening with their care. The bedside manner and communication at this hospital have been terrible.

That set me up at least another 6 weeks for the 2nd "professional" to be assigned to my case. Today I was suppose to start with my new therapist but got no phone call, no text message. Nothing. She explains things in a way that is easy to understand. One of the things I like the most is that she is very careful not to over prescribe any kind of narcotics. If you genuinely need them, she will make sure to monitor your condition and prescribe accordingly. You need to get to know her before passing judgement on her personality or bedside manner. She will try whatever she can before prescribing any hard medications, and to me that's invaluable! Would you like it if someone passed judgement on your personality based on one meeting?!! For the 1 star review, sometimes people go into a new doctor's office and try to tell them what to do. It's like needing a plumber because you have a leak and telling him/her how to fix the problem. I have never been made to feel like she thought I was drug seeking. She had always done whatever she felt, in her expert opinion, what was best for me to have a good quality of life. Yes, she does urine test every 2 or 3 months, and I have no problem with it as I have nothing to hide. She does this because it is her job to make sure that no one is abusing any additional pain meds. In my opinion, it gives me the assurance that she is careful and acts in my best interest.

Making an appointment was quick and easy. Gray, who schedules the appointments, is kind and efficient. He was able to get me in the next day for psychology and psychiatry appointments. First off, the offices are brand new, modern, clean, and gorgeous. It's a very welcoming and bright environment which lends to a feeling of calm. I know it might sound small, but you wouldn't believe some of the mental healthcare offices I've seen (dusty, dark, dirty, is that a cat?!). They have filtered water and green tea (my fave) in the lobby area, which is a nice touch, because I talk a LOT. Momma needs her juice. Dr. Roy is an intelligent, understanding, and accomplished psychiatrist who takes his time getting to know you. He really listens, thoroughly explains any questions you may have, and has genuine concern for your well-being. Dr. Olivia Sussman is my therapist and she's basically an angel. I've never met a psychologist more kindhearted and empathetic. Dr. S has gone above and beyond to help me when I'm in crisis, and worked with me when my finances suffered, to create a treatment plan that is cost-effective for me without sacrificing the care I need. She's trustworthy, patient, and effective--I truly believe she's invested in my mental health journey. I always feel that she's genuinely listening to me and understands me. She's also very solution oriented. Oftentimes, psychiatrists have a reputation for simply prescribing medication. She stays focused on finding solutions that are going to work for me whether it's medication, something else, or a combination. Just make sure you know therapy is down in the lower lobby.. LL. i had a stroke at age 26. one in a million chance ... i started my rehab therapy at lutheran shortly after being admitted. Once released i went to the shore rd center because its closer than 60th for sp[eech, ot and pt. My occupational therapist Romana is as intelligent and knowledgeable as it gets. She knows how to multiply herself when there are more than one patient as well. Her interns are well selected and experienced before coming. I couldnt ask for better people handling my recovery. She did her best to accomodate me with tools, info, props notes for work.. you name it. My physical therapist Lauren is also a godsend. We clicked right away. So professional yet cool. She has her doctrine, whats better? She does pt and helps out patients with other touchy sensitive problems. Evetyone there couldnt be nicer, they all interract great and give advice and wish you a nice night etc. Front desk :steven and jeanette are the best with planning appointments that fit YOU. we appreciate everyone so much, when we make cake at home, they get half of it. After goin since july 2011. I have upgraded 2 canes, walked up and down stairs, treadmill, moved my arm and hand which i thought was never possible, and overall self improved mentally with their guidance. Im back to work now and doing things like walk on a beach in puerto rico(this november) and swim in a pool. couldnt thank them enough.
