The PT at HSS treats you individually for 30 minutes and is prompt and on time. At ONS My appt was 10:30 and I didn't see the PT for 20 minutes and I just sat there with a hot towel around my ankle. I kept asking where the PT was and they said she would be over shortly. She spent 10 minutes with me and gave me off to her assistant. When I asked what was the 4th exercise I did on my initial visit she said I have 24 patients and I don't know. I canceled all my other appointments and I'll return to HSS where I can get all my care by a PT. I know this is owned by a venture capitalist and the care is not great and rushed. It didn't ... The second/ third time, I went to see a physio, I had 5-10 mins of pressure release in my calf then was put for 25 mins on a massage machine. I was given stretching exercises to go home with. My legs were getting worse not better, so I went to a different physio in new Rochelle's who confirmed I had been given the wrong diagnosis, the wrong parts of my body had been worked on and the exercises I had been given to do at home were making my issues worse (!!!). Originally, I came…read moreto see her with a chronic, degenerative disc disorder that had caused me a significant amount of pain for years. I had literally seen seven physicians and thirteen physical therapists before meeting Hope and Dr. Stu Steinman. I had been told by previous practitioners that I would never run again and that I would likely be in some level of continuous pain for the rest of my life. Since beginning treatment with Dr. Steinman and Hope (who are conveniently located in the same building in Norwalk), my back pain has been diminished to almost nothing. I exercise two to three hours per day, including running, without pain. Hope is a phenomenal physical therapist who cares deeply about her patients. She is intuitive, thoughtful, innovative, hardworking and demanding (and I say demanding as a positive, because if you truly want to get better, it takes work). As an example, I went to him a few years ago because I was feeling that my quads were weakening as I worked out instead of getting stronger. The more I worked them the weaker they got. He did a bunch of mobility tests and figured out that because of a hamstring injury 2 years prior I had adjusted and wasn't properly using my hamstrings and gluts. (It had been so long that I'd forgot I'd injured them until he started asking me about it...) He taught me some simple exercises to retrain my muscles and within weeks I was back in business. I've gone to him several times now over the last ten years and I am continually amazed at how skilled he is. They now use an app that shows me exactly what the exercises are and so I have easy access to them when I get home and I can make sure I'm doing them correctly. The team is incredibly professional and helpful (Thank you again for your help, Ali!). I've been to other places where they used stim so much it burned a hole in my leg. I've been to places where they are working with 4-5 people at a time and you wind up sitting around waiting. I've been to places where they do all kinds of different things but I don't get better. These folks are far and away the best. Don't waste your time anywhere else.
