I recently got my driveway patched and seal coated by Reitman. Everything was phenomenal from correspondence, to pricing, to the quality of work. I plan on recommending them to everyone I know. They actually went above and beyond because a rabbit ended up walking on the seal coat after it was finished and walked all over my new bluestone walkway. I just gas installed at my house and the driveway was all torn up and a disaster and I happened to get the recommendation to use them through word of mouth and they did not disappoint. Save me thousands of dollars of having to put in a totally new driveway. I was told by another company that I needed to rip up my existing driveway and put down all new asphalt and Reitman said that all I needed was to seal it for under $1000 crack repair included. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this company and their unbelievable customer service. A little background about me and my project. I apologize in advance for the length of this post. I had a house fire over 4 years ago and during the rebuild, the gas line to my house had to be replaced which involved digging up parts of my driveway. Once the gas lines were replaced, the holes were merely patched which left a lot of visibly noticeable bumps, holes, and color variations along with spray paint where the lines were marked. It looked terrible but I lived with it for a few years while saving up to redo the driveway. Come this spring I was ready to have my driveway done. I had asked for recommendations on my neighborhood app and received several. I called and left messages with approx 6-8 different companies. I received a total of two call back and only one company actually came out to give me an estimate. I agreed to the quoted price without any haggling and told him I was ready to go and would pay in cash. I was told it was very busy and most likely would not be done until after the summer. I was disappointed but understood so as fall approached I called that same company again to let them know I was ready when they were. I was told it couldn't be done until the first week in November which I agreed to. November rolled around and I had not heard from anyone so I called and left messages and none were returned. At this point I'm desperate as I really wanted this done before winter. It looked awful but I also didn't want the cracks and holes to get worse. I decided to go onto Yelp to look for another company. I used the service where you can receive quotes from multiple companies. This is where Bob and Reitman Blacktop enter the story. Out of all the companies that were messaged through Yelp, he was the first to respond ( only one other company ended up responding). He asked for my address and said he would come by and take a look. Within a few hours of me reaching out through Yelp, Bob was at my house to look at the driveway. We are in mid-November by now and the first thing Bob says to me is, it's really too cold to do a full driveway at this point. You should have called earlier in the season. That's when I explained to Bob that I had been trying for months and had no luck having someone commit to this job. I had agreed on price, had cash snd was flexible with timing so the only thing I could think is that my job was too small to commit time to. Bob said it wouldn't be too cold to sealcoat the existing driveway if I wanted to do that it is far less money snd since this Saturday forecast was warm, he said he could do it that day. I was hesitant as I wanted a whole new driveway but he assures me that while it wouldn't look perfect, it would look 100 times better and at a fraction of the price. I agreed as I was sick of looking at it and I figured even if I want to still do the driveway over in the spring, this would buy me some time. I was so happy that someone actually was willing to commit to taking the job and the idea that it would be done that same week make me so happy. If the story ended there I would still have given Bob a great review as he was quick to respond, came when he said he would and scheduled me right away- but obviously that's not the whole story. After we agreed on a price and that he would send his crew to sealcoat my driveway on Saturday he turned around snd said to me, - I'm paraphrasing here - this is what I'm going to do. I'm going to sealcoat your driveway at no charge due to everything you've been through. I could not believe it. Times are tough all around and I would never expect a business owner, especially during these times to actually give his services away to me for free. I was in utter shock at this amazing offer of kindness. A few minutes after he left, I received a call from his office to confirm the schedule where again it was reintegrated they would not charge me. I was told I was the first job on Saturday and they would be here between 8-9am. They showed up promptly, just after 8am and went to work. The job was complete pretty quickly as I went to check and they were already gone. My only disappointment was that they didn't tell me they were leaving as I wanted to thank them and tip them. My driveway looks incredible right now. I wish I had a before picture to show you the difference but needless to say I am 100% satisfied and I would be just as satisfied with this job had I paid the quoted price. The crew from Reitman just finished my sealcoat a few hours ago and it looks great! The sealcoat adds new life to the driveway and makes it look new again. The crew arrived and promptly but carefully applied the sealer and were very detailed making sure not to get sealer on the Belgium blocks and stone walkway. Please do yourself a favor and stay away from these guys. They took my check in July and it took them forever to do stage one of the process of new paving. I was promised that I could have it done by August 1st before my tenants moved in. It is now September 1st and they have not done it. Calls have gone unreturned. They wanted full payment and would not allow me to see the job (I live in the city - Job on LI) and when I refused to pay without seeing the job, they took me off the schedule and will not return my calls. How are these guys in business with the way they have dealt with me as a customer? read more

I had work performed by another well known paving company which resulted in a greyish run-off from the boardering Belgian blocks following a rain. The original contractor insisted that simple power washing would correct the problem. It did not, and was told that it must be naturally occurring limestone that must be coming up from the ground. I was at my wits end and needed a independent expert opinion. I contacted Reitman for their help. Within 24 hrs Bob Reitman returned my call, personally came to my home and provided a rational explanation for the discoloration. Not only did Bob refuse any money for his time and advise, he offered to repair the problem. I highly recommend Reitman for their honesty, knowledge and assistance. If my current contractor refuses to correct the problem which was identified by Bob Reitman, I will be contacting Reitman for their services. read more

July 2018 Reitman seems do stand behind their work. They always come back and fix the marks and holes on my driveway. I am not 100% happy, but let's hope they can keep stand behind their work. Jan 2018 I contacted the company, the owner returned my call and promised to fix the problem. So I updated my review. Original I had new blacktop for my driveway recently. I noticed they gave the worst product. The driveway started to peeling off from first day. Peeled off black top gets everywhere in yard, in the house. When I checked, I didn't see any rocks in the asphalt they used. The whole driveway was not level, one side of the driveway was too high, it would scratch my car bottom. read more
