I had never owned a pair of wedge soles before and they took the time to explain the differences in wedge material and leathers across the two brands I was comparing. I must have tried on six or seven pair as the sizing between the two brands was slightly different. The guys never complained or seemed put out. They were extremely helpful. As long as Chester Boot Shop is in business, I will never buy a pair anywhere else. As far as value, I would say that they are inline with any online retailer's pricing. However, if I can support a local, small, family-owned, customer focused business in my community, I will... always.

The hat selection was larger than I expected and found just the right hat and at an awesome price! On to boots and found a handsome pair of python that the husband loved. They looked like a pair he owned 35 years ago, but updated. The salesman was extremely helpful in helping him find his size. He also offered a beautiful pair of ostrich which I preferred, but husband got just what he wanted. I WOULD MOST DEFINITELY RECOMMEND CB AND THEIR STAFF WAS WONDERFUL.

I told Rasty on the phone my exact size, 48 when I ordered it. He said sizing was true. Coat measures 52" across the arm pits, so it's a size 50 - 51. I liked it at first, but it gets way too floppy with its straight cut. The next size down would have been fine. Monkey trap pockets. Put your hand in and you can't get it out. You have to hold on to the bottom hem and pull your hand out. Pockets measure 5.5" across, flaps 7". You struggle to get a wallet in and out of the pocket. Rasty says it's to prevent sagging and that Reed has made the coat that way forever. Maybe the leather stretches. Still, this is silly. A car coat like this is not a fashion statement. You need to be able to put things in your pocket. Bent button. One of the buttons was hard to open and close. Really hard. I figured it was a break in problem. When it did not break in, I looked closely and the button stem was bent. It came that way. Rasty said he'd send another button. I reminded him. He never did. No answer. I wanted to exchange it, even for a price, but by the time I got around to it, I was two weeks beyond the 30 day return policy. Also, I had worn it a half dozen times and it was not "new". I was told I would have to pay an "80% restocking fee", a $480.00 loss. I was told the pockets could not be redone. There was something about recutting the coat, but I would have had to visit Detroit, 800 miles away, or a store in another city and I just don't have the time. Reed would not offer me a slightly better deal on a return and replacement. The coat could pass for new, even if it's not, but they would still only credit me $120.00. Disappointed. Could have been a great experience.

The sales lady was extremely nice and helpful and they have a great selection of leather items. Some are made right there in the factory and others are imported. Highly recommended if you are looking for an alternative to the mall stores. One tip: they sell on Amazon so check the prices before you go or have your phone with you. The price they quote you may be higher than online but they will honor the lower price.

I was helped at this store by a man and I had bought boots for my dad for his birthday. they were…read morejust a little loose so we came back 4 different times to try to exchange them and they were closed every-time. we finally came back when they were open. the man wouldn't let us exchange them because my dad had tried them on. he didn't wear them anywhere or get them dirty. but because he had tried them on he wouldn't take them back. we just wanted an exchange no money back or anything. when I told him he had just tried them and they weren't even on his feet for more than 5 minutes, he got really mad and swore at me and kicked me out. I don't recommend going here, i feel cheated because I paid a pretty penny for these boots and I just wanted ones that fit him.
