While electricians were giving me up to a week in order to take a look at a breaker that kept on tripping, Remedy Electric was able to squeeze me into their schedule and gave me a next day appointment. The electrician that arrived was super knowledgeable and friendly. He explained to me the issue, brought the new breaker switch and installed it in 15 mins. I subtracted a star because I felt like the price was more than what other companies were quoting me. But that was completely worth it since they arrived so quickly. Called about a malfunctioning hot water heater to eliminate electrical issues. Very efficient scheduling and up-front cost analysis. Plus, within about 5 minutes of arriving, the problem was diagnosed as the water heater not the breaker which had been tripping. Then because Kevin had worked in water heater repair he told me it was probably the elements and it was an easy fix that he talked me through. $85 in parts and we had hot water in an hour. Tried to contact Remedy Electric today for a rough quote for some electric work that we needed done in our backyard. We had an above ground pool installed and required a junction box at the sight of the pool. I was told by Teresa, and I quote, "We do not provide free Estimates,the fee will be 50.00 dollars This will allow the electrician to Determine what is needed to give you the price, If you accept the Estimate, at the Compilation of Project the 50.00 Dollars will be removed if charged." I'm really shocked. Of the twenty-two companies with certified and bonded professionals I contacted, today, all of them gave me a rough quote, and every single one of them offered to come and provide a true quote at no charge. I'm just really surprised that this company refuses to be competitive in its own market! There's no way I would ever entertain future work with a company so disinterested in garnering my business. To not even _try_ to offer something... it just smacks of being completely disinterested, and that's not a good sign in a field where attention to detail, and commitment to perfection is vital! Strangely surprising, and a complete disappointment. [Also, whenever a "professional" responds so illiterately, that's a bad sign, as far as I'm concerned.] -------------------------------------- 7/7: Teresa, I contacted 21 other companies who do bonded, certified electrical work to get quotes, yes, I did. I did not say that I contacted them solely by phone. In truth, it was a combination of work done through email and by phone. Why that comes as such a shock, I don't know. Maybe it's just that electronics (like computers and cell phones) are foreign to you, but a lot of us use them to communicate on a daily basis. You seem so confused by the quotation process! You asked how your competitors knew the particulars of the job? Simple. They asked me. As I said, I was looking for a rough quote, and got them from several of your competitors without any confusion, or contempt. The top three that I'm workings with-- companies rated higher than yours on both Yelp and Angie's List-- saw your response, and had commentary of their own to add. Like, one said, "Why doesn't she just try asking those questions beforehand, rather than ranting about them in response!" While another added, "How difficult is it to respond in email, like we did?" It seems like your competitors weren't nearly as confused about having a conversation on the internet. For you, mores the pity. I'm not looking for a handyman service. I'm looking for an insured company with top-notch professionals. A company committed not only to excellent service, but to doing a job-- not cheaply -- but economically. So i just want to start off with a comment on a previous post. I have never had an electrician come out for free. Electricians and plumbers always charge for their time to review the problem and come up with an answer. I do not like it, but since they all do it, and all charge about the same amount for it, and I have no choice because those are things I cannot do myself, until I make a best friend who can change a breaker without causing more bad than good I pay the fee. I thought the fee from Remedy was reasonable, the work was done quickly, a discount was given on bulk items which was nice. They were available when I needed them which was the same day since my breaker kept tripping and I needed a new one. They forsaw other problems I would have and fixed those in the same trip. And even came back the next day to change out some outlets for me. I had bought a bunch of outlets that had USB ports on them, so they replaced about 20 outlets around my house. The service was friendly, not snobby like others I have dealt with in the past. Very straight forward, explained what he was doing, even gave me a quick lesson on the different kind of breakers (at my request). And when I had multiple other trades going at the same time, he just worked on his thing and kept plugging along. He even added an outlet and helped me hang a clock in my bathroom cleanly so that I did not have to have a ugly cord running across the wall. These are my electricians from now on. So my hubby and I bought a new house and promptly after moving in, we broke it. :( Actually, my father helped us install a dimmer switch in the dining room, and although that light worked beautifully, none of the power in the entire family room next door worked. The lights in my house were flickering intermittently so I called Remedy to come out to take a look. I had already had the power company out to confirm that everything was ok on their side and COA power said their side was fine. When the guys came out they were friendly and knowledgable. After a good bit of troubleshooting, they found a few small issues in my electrical panel that they quickly tighten up but couldn't' find anything in the house that could be causing the flickering. They said that the issue had to be on the power companies side and told me exactly what to say when I called COA to have them come back out. Sure enough, when COA came back out they found a major issue at the street and it was exactly what Remedy thought it was. Their pricing is reasonable and their service is excelent. On Friday, half of the electricity to our house went out. Unfortunately, that half included the air conditioning system. In Texas during the summer, that is SERIOUS BUSINESS. House in Avery Ranch West with electrical issue tripping two breakers, one in garage and one outside. Kevin took his time and methodically found where the problem was. Turns out a previous renter had installed a ceiling fan and when they left, they took their fan and wrapped the wires with black tape. The hot wire was shorting out against the ground inside the housing. Also fixed a long standing issue we have had with three way switches in living room. Glad I called the right person. Cost was reasonable for the amount of time it took to get it all straightened out. Will call again if i need an honest electrician in this area. read more

A couple weeks ago my upstairs sink overflowed and leaked through the floor and set off the smoke detectors. We were able to clean up the water and turn off the smoke detectors but I was concerned there might have been damage to the wiring that could cause a hazard. I called a few other companies that had been recommended and even though I told them I was worried this was a potential fire hazard, they were all just too busy to get someone out quickly. One said they could get someone out on the following Tuesday, another said they could get someone out in two weeks (!) and another literally just called me back a couple of days ago. I finally (thankfully!) called Remedy and Teresa immediately recognized that this was an issue that needed to be checked out sooner rather than later. Like all the other companies, the Remedy electricians were very busy, but she reworked the schedule of one of her electricians and got him out within a couple of hours. He quickly diagnosed that the damage was only to the smoke detector, which was a relief, and also discovered that four of the six smoke detectors weren't connected to the system at all (we had just moved into the house and weren't aware), so he took care of that too. I couldn't ask for more. For those interested in the details, here is our tale of woe and how Remedy helped us through it. My husband I recently bought some rental property and had a handyman perform some electrical work for us. Within a few days of occupancy, the tenants reported an electrical problem. I called Remedy and spoke with Theresa, who was very understanding and responsive. She sent a crew out the next day and they immediately Identified the problem and repaired it at a reasonable price. A week later, the tenants called again with another problem and again, Remedy came through for us. Though their recommendation to fix the problem was more than I expected to spend, I realized after much research that their recommendation was really in our best interests from a risk and financial perspective as well as for the long term health of the electrical system and house. I really appreciated that they took the risk to recommend what was best for us. Since they had proven themselves to be trustworthy, I decided to have them look at all of the electrical work that our handyman had done. What we found was that the handyman's work was not to code and his work exposed us to risk and long term damage to the property. I wish we had called Remedy to begin with. Last but definitely not least, I called Remedy for an electrical problem at another property and they discovered that the problem wasn't an electrical problem but a problem with the light fixture and they fixed it at no cost. I am a retired lady on a fixed income. I had a week of if any thing could go wrong it did. My microwave blew out and caused havoc with the outlets in my kitchen. Teresa (sorry if I misspelled your name) was so patient and pleasant on the phone with me. I live in a mobile home which is older and the breakers in my house are out dated and hard to find. She called her head electrician who not only found the breaker but traveled that day to pick it up so it would be on the truck and they would have service out that afternoon. I thought Teresa was so nice and that continued on with the service men that came out. Nice, friendly, and answered any and all questions I asked no matter how senseless they were. They worked quickly and even gave me choices to save me money. I have not dealt with a company this nice, competent, and fairly priced in so very long. It turned a bad morning into a very pleasant afternoon. I just can't say enough good things about my experience with this Company. I disagree with the other reviews for this company. Since I have to give one star as the lowest rating, here are the good things about them: they did come over and give us a free estimate, their price was very competitive and they were friendly. That's about it. If you look at their website, it says "they wear shoe covers"--nope; "put down drop cloths"--didn't happen, "follow up with a phone call to be sure you are satisfied"--total opposite; and my favorite, "show up on time"--not even close. They were scheduled to arrive at 9am to install a foyer light in our 20 foot ceiling. At 9:45, I called the company to find out where they were. I was told that they were at Lowe's getting a new ladder. Seriously? They had all weekend to do that. They finally arrived at 10:15...not even close to being on time. Neither of the men apologized for being late, wore shoe covers or put down a drop cloth to protect our wood floors. My biggest complaint though is what happened after they left. Now, I will admit to my fault in the lighting installation looking soooo unprofessional...I was tending to my 2 year old when I should have been checking their work from every angle. From where I sat with my daughter on the stairs, the work looked good; however, after writing a check and closing the door, I looked at the light from a different angle and noticed that the wiring wasn't pulled very tightly or looped through the chain very well. I decided to let my husband see what he thought when he got home. He was very disappointed with the work and called the company. We were told that it would cost $140 to come back and tighten the wiring. $140!!?? Their info says they provide a satisfaction guarantee, but I guess that comes at an additional price. They say they stand by their work and that is absolutely true whether it looks like a professional did the work or not. My advice, pay more for true professionals and don't bother with Remedy Electric. read more
