My computer was new and I just scratch it, not dropped. You open the main board and disassembled my computer without my permit. Then you charge me 90$ without any fix. $90 just for disassemble? What is more, I don't know why my computer worked better before I sent it to you. At least it won't be very hot, but now my computer seems going to burn after I turn on it. Do you want to say I'm a competitor or something? Oh sorry I'm the student of UCI and please trust me they did bad work. Bestbuy was sure they can fix my computer under warranty, but I was in a hurry to use the computer so I sent it to them. As I said, they broke down it without my permit and charge me!!! I had not used my Toshiba Satellite S50 Series in almost a year because the dc jack was broken and I was told by Best Buy I would need to change the motherboard, which would've cost me almost $200! It's so hard to find a place that actually does laptop repairs and not just a place that installs antivirus and spyware programs. It doesn't look like much from the outside but I figured I'd give it a shot. They gave me a free diagnostic and found out that my laptop motherboard had failed. It cost $300 to get a new board, plus a labor fee that I thought was reasonable. When I got it back it was still having problems so I took it back in. Turns out the new board was bad too so they redid the repair and ate the cost. Overall I am very pleased with their work as my laptop now works perfectly. The manager, Henry, is professional and knowlegdeable. My only complaint is that they did take a bit long to get back to me (not including the time it took for the board to ship). read more

Just a waste of time. Not friendly and overpriced. Took my laptop ASUS K53e to clean the dust from the fan said they'll charge $95 dollars and it will take at least one day. I made a yelp account specifically to warn people about these con artists. If you are looking for a place that is cheap and will destroy your electronics, I highly recommend them. I took my laptop in to have an internal component replaced. They were far cheaper than anyone else. While they replaced the part, they created a far bigger issue. For one year I had shitty internet connection because they did a terrible job rewiring the computer. I discovered that they also took out many of my screws. I only found this out after I had to get my hard drive replaced at another computer shop, and they told me about these issues after taking apart my computer. Shady stuff. read more

This review is for an experience a few years ago, but it left such a negative taste that I cannot let it go. Absolute worst tech service I've ever experienced. I consider myself very technical, but my one shortfall is that I haven't taken the time to learn to solder. I had a hard drive which I had tested to be working (disks spun) and through research determined that a piece on the PCB needed to be replaced. I bought a brand new PCB online and brought both the hard drive and new PCB into this shop. I specifically said that the hard drive was working, the disks spun, but I needed a piece removed from the current PCB and replaced with a piece from the new PCB. I pointed out the part of the board in question, and told them that it just needs to be replaced so I can use my drive. They happily agreed and told me they'd give me a call when it was ready. The next afternoon I got a call from the shop saying that they were able to "recover [my] data from the hard drive but it's going to take a long time to get everything off." I was baffled. I had asked for a piece to be soldered... I made absolutely no mention whatsoever of data recovery. I thought what the hell, why are they trying to provide me a service that I never asked for? So I asked them, what about replacing the piece like I had asked? He sounded confused and went on to say that it was going to take all night to get the information off the disk, and I could bring in a brand new hard drive to which they could transfer all the information. I told them that's not what I wanted, I never asked for data recovery. He paused for a moment and then told me that if I wanted, they could stop the data recovery, completely wipe the hard drive, and give it back to me at no charge. Seeing as data recovery was my end goal (though NOT from them!) I declined and asked them to continue. The next day I got there and I was very upset but there wasn't anything I could do to change the situation, they had already done the damage. It ended up costing around $250 for a service that I never asked for and did not want from them at all. I felt completely swindled and betrayed. I immediately told everyone I knew about it and to never go to this shop. I think it's utterly repulsive that they would not listen to me from the get go and just avoid this entire misunderstanding. If you don't understand what a customer wants, ask for clarification. It is poor business practice to move forward with partial information or outright misinformation. Adding insult to injury, I had to ask them to give me the PCB that I had brought in. I guess they had intended to keep it. read more

When your computer goes down, all you want is to have it fixed fast, and Device Repair totally delivered! They did exactly what I hoped they would do: repair my computer quickly with no hassles or delays. I dropped my computer off this morning and it was finished by mid-afternoon at less than half the price others wanted. I first went to Geek Squad (Best Buy) because I had no idea where to go. They recommended I send the computer to their repair hub in Kentucky (Kentucky!) and they would get back to me in a few days with a diagnosis ($50 up front for the shipping). Then they said they did not have the parts, so they wouldn't even take it. I called Alienware, and they said for $430 (paid upfront) I could send it to their repair hub in Texas. Then they said they didn't have the parts, so no go. I felt pretty desperate! Today, I Googled a few local places and found Device Repair right down the street from where I work (near John Wayne Airport). I brought it by and Henry looked at it said, "Don't worry, we work on Alienware all the time." He called me a little later and told me what the problem was (motherboard heat issues) and that he could fix it before the end of the day for less than $200! I love this guy! I just picked it up and it is working better than ever. Disaster averted! And I didn't have to send my computer out of state. And wait. And fret! So, I am sold. No more Best Buy. I brought my pc in to them for a possible power supply problem. They fixed it but found that my video card was busted. Instead of harassing me into buying a card from them, they let me loan a cheaper one for a deposit of $50, which would be good for 30 days. A week later, I managed to get a replacement card from the manufacturer, and brought it in to Device Repair. They swapped in my card, and I got back my $50 deposit. I went to this place simply because it was right by my work and the reviews looked decent. Let me tell you, they really impressed me. The owner was incredibly nice and helpful. I had what's knows as the blue screen of death where my hard drive was done. They were able to get my data off the computer and put it in the new hard drive. Just 2 hours later I received a call from Henry letting me know that my hard drive was beyond repair. Although disappointed that I would have to replace my hard drive, I was amazed at the response time. Wow! I wish I had found these guys a long time ago. Henry is so friendly and honest. I came in to get a repair done on my Macbook Pro. I should mention he accommodated me so I could drop off my laptop and pick it back up within 2 hours because I use my laptop for work every day and can't be without it. The talented and also friendly Kam did my repair. To top it all off, after I took it home I thought maybe there was still an issue so I called and asked if I could drop it off the following day for a second look.
