All I can say is OMG. After expecting the worst, we got the best. Cleaning up for a coastal move from east to west is never a small job, and we had a LOT of purge that needed picked up. I call, we book, and I'm thinking, "it cannot be this easy in NY/NJ". I was wrong. The guys kept in touch with me all morning (they were running a little late on their appointment). When they arrived, they did their onsite estimate (which came in at less than the phone estimate) and GOT BUSY. Sweetest guys, professional and nice, neat and smart in appearance for haulers, and they made it a GREAT experience. They're not the cheapest, but always remember you get what you pay for. I used this service to remove junk from my apartment when the lease expired. The service was quick and efficient, and all items, which included a dining room table and chairs, two couches, and various other smaller items, were removed from my apartment without issue. The "full load" option ($625) on their website was plenty of space for the junk removed. I should note however, that because my apartment was a 5th floor walk up, an extra fee of $35 an hour, per mover, was assessed. Ultimately, I only paid the $625 plus tax, as I believe my junk was below the amount of a "full load." Regardless, I did not ask questions and got an even better deal than I expected. I only have two complaints. First, I booked the junk removal service for 8am on the day of my move, as the company's website suggested that such a time was available. The day before, I was advised that time was actually booked and the movers could only come towards the end of the day (during which I had a pre-existing obligation). Luckily, we were able to figure it out and the company worked with me and my schedule to effectuate an easy junk removal, but in other instances where someone might not have as much flexibility in their schedule, I can see how these last minute changes can present serious problems. Second, the movers were quite rough removing the items from the apartment. I understand that they're junkers, and that my building did not require a certificate of insurance from them, but that does not give carte blanche authority to remove the junk as expeditiously as possible. Between slamming certain objects against the wall, or dragging others on the sidewalk so as to leave damage on the sidewalk, it seemed they were just a touch rough with regard to the building itself. Regardless of the above, I'd likely use Remove My Junk again, as they were able to get the job done for a reasonable price on the day I needed it done. Just make sure that if you're in a nicer building that they provide a certificate of insurance. You don't want to lose your deposit. read more

We needed to dispose of some flats from a film set we were building. I called Remove my Junk around 8pm on Monday, on Tuesday at 5:30pm they swung by our location to pickup the materials promptly and efficiently. We had less material than I originally anticipated but they were understanding and offered a really good rate. I have lived in NYC for many years and with that comes accumulation of STUFF! A lot of nice clothes and items I just didn't need or have space for anymore. The gentlemen who removed my items anticipated he'd be late (rainy day driving in manhattan), so he called prior to my appointment to let me know, which I thought was very polite. He then let me know, upfront, that I'd be charged slightly more than I was originally quoted, due to the # of stairs that he had to climb - again, I appreciated that I was told up front. They removed everything very quickly, left me a thorough receipt for services and even complimented me on my apartment. All in all, it was a very great service and hopefully I won't accumulate so much in the future - but should that ever happen, I'll DEFINITELY use Remove My Junk again. They called back and said they won't be able to come because they're truck is too full and won't fit my stuff in it. They did an amazing job of removing junk AND cleaning up afterwards- way more than they needed to do and their attitudes were impressive. I called Remove My Junk last Tuesday for a Saturday morning pick up between 9am and 11am. I told the guy I spoke with (Joseph) that it was a fourth floor walk up, taking away a three-seater sofa bed and a two-seater loveseat. I was told it would be $225 but it could cost more based on the specifics of the job. Saturday morning, no one shows up. I get a call at 11am telling me that the first job of the day in Far Rockaway is much bigger than expected and they won't be able to get to me until late afternoon. Clearly there was never any possibility of them being with me for 9AM since they had a job in South Brooklyn when we are in Jersey City. Irritated, we rescheduled for 9am sharp the next day, and I tell the guy (Maurice) that I have a new couch being delivered at noon, so the old couches have to be gone and the hallways in our building clear by then. Sunday morning, I get a call at 10.45am - they are on their way. They arrive at 11am, in a Budget rental van and they are two old geezers, despite my specific instruction that the job is a four storey walk-up involving lifting a heavy pull-out couch. They are out of breath when they get to my door, and they have not been told that the job involved descending four flights. What they have been told is that the charge is $250, not an additional $25 based on circumstance, but $250 straight up. I can't blame these old timers, they are just trying to make a little extra cash on a Sunday, but they didn't even lift the couches - they just shimmied them along on the carpet, scratching paint off the walls in the hallways and staircases and leaving smudges as they went, leaving us to have to retouch the walls in our building. It took them an hour to take these down four flights and put them in their rented van, resting at the bottom of every flight. For $250, we could have rented a U-Haul and got a couple of buddies to come over and driven the couches out to the Hunts Point dump ourselves, without damaging the building. I agreed to pay $225 because I thought I was hiring professionals, not two tired old men desperate to make a buck and incapable of even lifting the objects they were being paid to trash. An hour later, when the couch delivery men arrived, two fit and healthy young men took a huge and awkward couch up four flights of stairs in five minutes without any damage to the walls. These guys were professionals. In our experience, Remove My Junk is an outfit that charges like professionals, but instead uses amateurs driving rental vans who were presumably making only a fraction of the $250 we paid while the bosses back at the office didn't care about even coming on the right day, let alone informing their hapless staff about what the job in hand entailed. I CAN HONESTLY SAY THIS IS THE WORST SERVICE I HAVE EVER RECEIVED FROM ANY COMPANY EVER! I really wish you could leave less than zero stars, because that is what their service merits. I scheduled a pick up from our office location in Manhattan for 3pm on a Thursday. After receiving a call at 3.30pm letting me know that they are only just leaving New Jersey, they assured me they would be here before 5.30pm to remove the (relatively small amount) of office junk we had. After showing up at almost 6pm, the one guy at the door preceded to complain to me that there was no parking (in mid-town Manhattan ay 6pm!). They proceeded to disappear for another 15-20 mins, they collected the junk and were able to take it in two trips. As they were SOO late, the office was now closed and I was in a rush to leave myself. On my way home, I was ambushed on the street my one of the guys saying we had not paid for the service. I HAD paid through their online service, and was not able to provide company card information from memory. After being laughed at and mocked in the middle of the street, I made it explicitly clear I had to leave and would address the issue upon being invoiced. Two weeks later, an extremely rude and aggressive woman called me to let me know my card was declined. First of all, why is the charge being processed two weeks after we provided payment?! Secondly, after trying to confirm the payment she proceeded to shout down the phone at me, saying she is sending someone physically over to the office to collect a check as they have waited so long for the payment. Very efficient to remove junk but DO NOT USE them FOR DONATION ITEMS . After pick up of mainly donation items at my house in Westchester, the 2-man team was rushing to its next job in New Jersey and stopped at only one charity, without even trying to call a couple organizations to take what was not needed or accepted by the first charity. There is no coordination or planning of the driver's route regarding donations. Discretion about if and where to stop is left to the drivers. Drivers seems to care less about donations and more about getting as many junk removal jobs as possible in the given time. The removemyjunk website's "donations" tab is at best inaccurate if not misleading. Stay away if your goal is to donate items for charity. read more

I hired them to clean out a three bedroom apartment. I was very pleased with their work. We called and made an appointment to receive a free estimate and they were prompt and were able to give me a contract for the amount. On the day of the removal they arrived on time with three people and moving equipment. They gave me an estimated time of 3-4 hours to move everything and the job was completed on time. I would definitely use this company again. The guys that we worked with were very nice, professional and patient. We had an issue with our credit card, but they waited until it was resolved and was very understanding of the situation. I would highly recommend Remove My Junk. read more
