I have had IPL and PICO laser treatments in the past (not here), so I understand that multiple treatments are often needed for full results and clearer skin. I wasn't expecting perfect results from one treatment, but I was certainly expecting some indication that the areas had actually been treated. Instead, it seems like additional spots that hadn't even surfaced before were brought out, so I now feel like I have twice as many spots. None of the treated spots have flaked off or improved, and I also have a wound on my shoulder that bled and still has not healed, which was not there before the treatment. I texted their texting line to let them know what was happening and received **no response at all.** At my follow-up appointment, the doctor came in and immediately wanted to do more laser. At that point, I did not feel comfortable allowing them to do another treatment. While I was waiting for the doctor, my daughter actually pointed out a roach crawling on the wall behind me. The office itself is dingy and simply does not feel clean or well maintained. The front desk staff initially seems nice, but when you ask questions or express concerns, the attitude quickly becomes irritated and passive-aggressive. I paid almost $600 and, almost three weeks later, feel that my skin is worse than when I walked in. I'm extremely disappointed with both the results and the lack of follow-up or concern when I reached out. My advice is to take your time finding a reputable dermatologist. It may take longer to get an appointment, but in my experience, it's worth waiting for a place you feel comfortable trusting with your skin.

I chose Sand Lake Dermatology Center after a negative experience with another clinic. The reviews…read moreare great so I felt like this would be a good choice and so far after two appointments, I really like this clinic and Dr Mailer. Before coming to Sand Lake Dermatology I had a biopsy at another clinic and was scheduled to have a carcinoma removed. I was unable to have this done at the other clinic so I booked the first appt available with Sand Lake Dermatology which was set for the end of July. Once I was able to get my records sent to the clinics, a staff member called me right away and moved my appointment to have a carcinoma removed from my face to last week. Because of the interactions I had over the phone and online with this clinic, I felt comfortable having this clinic remove the carcinoma even though I had not even seen the clinic nor doctor. While I was mildly aware of what the procedure entailed, the staff that prepared me answering questions and numbing me(Marisol and Aaron) were great and made me feel comfortable. Dr Mailer was just as nice and made me feel comfortable. I was of course aware of the dr performing the procedure, I couldn't see it and didn't feel it. The procedure is called Moh's procedure where they typically cut away the determined margin around the affected area, bandage you up and let the patient wait in the lobby while the removed specimen is being reviewed in the onsite lab. If the lab determines that not enough was removed to show clear margins, the patient is brought back in and the dr removes more repeating the process until margins are clear. In my case, the dr removed all that needed to be removed leaving clear margins so after the lab results returned after a couple of hours, I was brought back into the procedure room and the dr proceeded to stitch up my wound applying dissolving stitched under the skin and removable stitches outside. My appointment for follow up and outer stitches removal was set for one week later( this past Tuesday). I was prescribed a heavy antibiotic and advised to keep Vaseline on the stitched up area and keep it covered with a bandage that is changed daily. Once I was stitched up, I mentioned a growth I have noticed on my eyelid and the dr suggested that on my follow up appointment she would take a biopsy. So this past Tuesday I had stitches removed, the area where I had stitches seems to be healing well and it doesn't appear that there will be a heavy scar. I am happy to see this as the area that was removed was quite large and the area stitched was quite long. The nurse, Natalie numbed my face, the stitches were removed and I didn't feel anything. They also numbed my eyelid so the biopsy could be taken. This is a sensitive area so this was a bit more intense but it went quickly and the biopsy was done. I will likely have results next week. What could have been a high anxiety first procedures (I've never had any surgery or stitches) turned out to be a pretty smooth experience. I recommend consideration of Sand Lake Dermatology as the staff and Dr Mailer were great, the waiting room is comfortable and even the staff that manages scheduling, check in, check out, nurses, physicians assistants all made me feel important, individual and taken care of. I wish all medical experiences could be similar to what I experienced.

She probably won't get it then either but.. one has to try. Big words definitely throw her .. I don't know how else to get her to understand relatively easy concepts. . Forget it, just go to the front and explain your issue to someone else. It worked for me. Kristen in the room didn't know if I needed to be numbed for a procedure (I had to ask her) what order to numb me (they added mouthwash as an extra step) then doesn't listen to my question about the product that's banked, instead quotes another product in a rude tone like she's the authority of what I'm going to do. She's clearly in the wrong industry. This is a beauty industry. I don't HAVE to go there to spend my money. They DO have competition. Karina can't process big words or minimally complex business issues. I'd not have her run a flea circus let alone a lucrative med spa.. well, what was once a lucrative med spa.... I've been back 10 times trying to get her to correct it and each time she gaslights me telling me to give it more time, and dry eyes is normal for my age (60). And that no one can tell, etc. but my eyes don't match. She did give me some Botox to try and help the situation. She is a dishonest person and there is constant turnover in staff.

The appointment felt much shorter than any laser session I've had at other LaserAway locations. Throughout the treatment, the provider kept looking at her watch, which made me feel like she was in a hurry to finish. At the other LaserAway locations I've visited, the provider always marked the treatment areas first to make sure every section was covered. That wasn't done during my appointment here, and combined with how quickly the session went, I left feeling like not every area was treated thoroughly. I've always had great experiences with LaserAway, which is why this visit stood out. I hope this feedback is taken into consideration because consistency and attention to detail are important, especially for laser treatments. I left feeling rushed rather than cared for.

You have to walk to the elevator and then take it upstairs one level. Even when we leave ahead of the time with the gps, we still get there late. We would have to leave like 45 min ahead when the gps says 20 minutes (with traffic). It's 13 minutes without. I drive like a maniac too so I can get there super quick if the lights are on my side. But with that traffic and if it's drizzling forget it. Everyone forgets how to drive and it will take you double the time. Other than all that nonsense, it's a great practice. The parking and getting there though-oof.

Following the procedure, we were waiting to hear back from the team pertaining to our bill. Initially when we showed up, we asked the receptionist to pay the self pay rate as we had out contacted our insurance and they indicated it would not be approved. Now, the reason we chose this particular establishment was because we contacted several others and asked for the self pay rate and evaluated reviews as well. This had the lowest self pay option and great reviews. So we were expecting to pay our bill on the date of service. She insisted that she send it through insurance and it would most likely not be denied because of the nature of the procedure. Sure enough, months later - we get the EOB from the insurance company and the bill was denied. AND to top it off, we would be on the hook for what they billed insurance - which is well over the self pay rate. We were upset, frustrated, and and annoyed. My husband attempted to contact Knight Dermatology through e-mail, telephone, and eventually having to drive to their location. After multiple attempts and continued confusion (literally told him they didn't have his date of service in there), the bill has been resolved. This took 5 months to complete. We will not be back due to the disorganization of the back end staff. Get it together. The doctor was great though!

My wife received several laser treatments which were fine, but we were willfully mischarged five…read moretimes, and then the business tried to cover it up rather than making amends. We were sad that a place with so many 5-star reviews misled us with the charges, treated us poorly when we tried to resolve, and broke state law in the process. As you can see from the picture of the receipts, the total cost for a given treatment was $377.50. However, the actual charge to us was $392.41. The receipt sent to us didn't even mention the service charge, as you can see - only the credit card printout hinted that we were paying more than shown. The reason for the 3.95% surcharge/service fee? They "don't want to raise prices:, therefore they now pass along any credit card fees (or even debit cards) - which is a sneaky way to do a price increase. They say they disclose all this to customers, that we could have paid cash or check...however we were never informed of this. Note that this "policy" is not in writing anywhere, nor is it displayed at the cashier. So we have paid $14.91 extra every appointment, when we could have wrote checks instead. We called and talked to the owner Cathy to try to resolve, and I expected we would receive an apology, perhaps even a refund for the service charges. Instead, she was rude, insisted my wife just can't hear properly, and then hung up on us! Very disappointing that a place with otherwise good service could be dishonest like this.
