I arrived 10 minutes after my scheduled time. Upon arrival, I was informed by the receptionist that Rachel had left early for the day simply because she "wanted to." According to their stated policies, appointments may be rescheduled only when patients arrive 15 minutes or more past their scheduled time. I was well within this allowance. This situation is particularly frustrating as I had specifically left work early and drove 35 minutes to reach the practice. Having a provider arbitrarily decide to end their day early, in direct contradiction to policies, is unprofessional and shows a concerning disregard for patients' time and circumstances. read more

I would not recommend. I arrived today for a 10am appointment; only to be told my appointment was at 9:45 and it was now 9:50: I was told I wouldn't be seen because I was 5 mins late! 5 mins!!!! While I was standing there I asked them how much my appointment would cost. I was give a price and then told it could be double that. No real answer. They want you to pay cash. Mixed feelings on this place. I feel like it was kind of a rip off. I originally went and saw a physician's assistant who basically told me that as long as I washed my face and used sunscreen, I wouldn't get wrinkles...but then prepared to try and sell me on micro needling and botox. The interaction I had with the girl at the front desk was also super awkward. I could tell she didn't really want to answer my questions about products or be bothered with me. I ended up buying a retinol serum. The physician assistant "froze" a bump off my face and then proceeded to tell me that the bump would fall off in 3 to 5 days. It never fell off. This entire visit was $200+ with my health insurance (not including the price of the retinol serum I purchased). The physician assistant said that if my bump didn't fall off I could come back a few weeks later and do the treatment again. Keep in mind that I already seen a different dermatologist about this bump a year ago who told me it could not be removed. I had gone to REN skincare for anti-aging advice and the bump was just a secondary concern. I went back to the dermatologist again a few weeks later for another treatment on my bump. This time I made an appointment with an actual dermatologist and saw Taylor Mulkey. Dr. Mulkey told me that the bump was actually a mole and could not be removed without major scarring. She told me it would be a more invasive procedure and could not be "frozen off" like the physician assistant told me. Another $78 wasted this time. I was not overly impressed. This is the most "spa-like" dermatologist I have been to and I honestly feel like I wasted my time and money. The whole drama with the bump thing cost me $300 and I don't have much to show for it. I had actually considered getting micro needling services here but I just don't get warm and fuzzy feelings here and I don't know how quickly I'd rush back. read more

I went in for a lip procedure because I have scars on my lip which greatly reduce my confidence. I was referred to visit this location by another doctor in the nashville area. After paying out of pocket for 6-7 laser treatments, I then felt on top of the world and the scars were greatly reduced! They deserve a 5 star rating right? NOT EXACTLY.. Now for the bad part.. 2 months after the last treatment, the scars came back in full effect and I went back to REN Dermatology to ask about my lip. They told me to have the procedures again and to use sun screen lip balm next time. To be completely fair, they should have told me that this procedure would need yearly/monthly treatments or let me know of other options. The ~$500 that I spent is a lot of money to me sadly as i'm paying off college debts with little to no opportunities with a SCARRED LIP. I know this is a turn off when i show up for interviews.. (The scars are here because I use to pick at my lips when i was younger (probably stress due to household problems growing up) and sometimes it caused them to bleed. I changed that habit now and i haven't picked at them in a few years..hoping the color would come back. No sob story but I'm highly disappointed and the people that i referred here are now changing their minds, as they should. read more

Do not go here. Billing is a nightmare. Every time I have taken my daughter to Ren they always tell me that something is wrong with my insurance, so I just pay out of pocket to avoid the headache. They do end up filing it on my insurance and then tell me that I owe the remaining balance of what my insurance didn't cover. I have essentially paid them twice for every visit. read more

I'm a big fan of REN Dermatology except for one (major) issue. They do NOT answer their phone. At first I thought it was a temporary staffing shortage issue, but it's been going on for over a year. It's extremely frustrating to never get my calls answered. They ask for you to leave a message and then call back at their convenience - which is rarely convenient for me. Then I'm back at square one. Whenever I need to make an appointment it takes at a minimum a few days to actually speak to someone and it's taken up to weeks. Their services are so good, but I'm questioning if it's worth it. It's ALWAYS an ordeal. I don't get it - I don't have this problem with any other doctor's office. read more

Mixed review - I'd give the doctor and exam a 5 star rating. Dr Mulkey was very thorough on the body scan, answered all of my questions, and provided next steps. I was very happy with the appointment and would recommend her. However, I'd give the practice's billing policies a 0 star if possible. Even if you have insurance, you are required to pay up front. I have never experienced this with any medical or dental practice at all. I'd almost be ok with it if they could provide a decent receipt at the time of payment - but they don't! I wanted a detailed receipt on what services were provided (not just a credit card receipt) so I could immediately do a HSA reimbursement since I had to pay that day. I was informed they can't do that until the insurance billing was completed and even then all I'd get is what my insurance company sends me - REN won't send me a detailed receipt. I find it unacceptable that I can't get a detailed receipt for services that I'm forced to pay for immediately. Ren Dermatology runs "like a well-oiled machine", as the saying goes. If there has ever been an example of how a modern-day doctor's office should be run, then this should be the model. In this office, you will find the most competent staff working in Nashville. Dr. Lee is a genius. I was blown-away by her bedside manner, compassionate attitude and willingness to take the time and explain my diagnosis in detail. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND seeing her (there maybe other doctors in that office/practice, however she is the only one that I saw). By the way, there is not a speck of dust anywhere, not a piece of lint on the floor, nor a scuff on a wall. This is the cleanest office that I have ever seen! read more

I never EVER do Yelp reviews but I just had to do this one. Dr. Lee is personable, super knowledgeable, attentive, a great listener, and treated me as though I was the only person on the planet. She clearly knows what she's doing. I recently had lash extensions done by Kara too and she was equally as professional, extremely personable, and did a great job. She listened to what I said I wanted and she delivered exactly that. Also, 5 stars for the staff. I don't know where Dr. Lee found these people but each and every one of them are welcoming, knowledgeable, and professional. Dr. Lee's nurse explained things so clearly when I asked questions and was very reassuring. In my 58 years I had not even walked into a derm office and I have to say I got really lucky finding this place. Someone described REN as "a well-oiled machine" and that it could be a model for all doctor's offices. I agree 100%!! read more

I would give REN a zero if I could. I called to make an appointment and ask to see a different doctor than the first one I had seen. I was told I would have to see the same doctor that I had seen. I ask "why can I not see a different doctor." She put the phone down and it sounded like she was rolling it across her desk, then she comes back after a couple of minutes and says "are you still there?" I replied "yes" and she said "you will have to see the same doctor, it is company policy." I told her "okay, there are a lot of dermatologists in Nashville, I am sure there are several who will be happy to see me." Clearly they don't care about satisfied patients or about retaining patients. That level of customer service is simply unacceptable. read more

Cosmetic procedure - Put in room for what was supposed to be 30 min; waited over an hour in cold room, no magazines, just medical chair. No one checked in. Medical- took small biopsy on collarbone and told scar wouldn't show. Now have big hole. Go somewhere else is my recommendation. read more

Photofacial on full face. First time. Half Asian. Price is listed as $300 but it's actually $350 to cover consulting/copay. Since this was a follow up and for cosmetic service not sure why a $50 copay was involved. I paid $50 when I originally went in and only did the test spot as well. We did a test spot on my cheek prior with no reaction so we proceeded with full face almost a week later. My face was cleansed with alcohol, then toner, and finally cooling gel was applied. The cheeks and chin went quick and well. RN said she was lowering the heat for the forehead because the skin is thinner but it was extremely hot on my forehead. I informed the RN it was hot. Cooling gel was wiped off and I was given an ice pack. I was informed the forehead looks like it might swell. Then I was sent home. Took maybe 15 minutes. I went online and read what to do. I kept an ice pack for the next hour because the forehead felt very hot, everything else was fine. I immediately got the coffee ground look when I got home and 2 days later it hasn't fallen or flaked yet. I also have slightly pink streaks on my forehead. Concerned it may be burn marks. I put scarring cream on today. It clearly shows gaps which I read is from not overlapping the laser. Pic posted. Update: No scarring! And the best part is my usual redness around my cheek and nose have drastically decreased. It did remove a few spots but not much. It didn't address the acne on my jawline. Overall the tone of my skin is lighter. Not sure I would do it again for the price but quick results without having to plaster lotion on every night to lighten. read more
