I got a "hey come on in", "welcome", "I like your sweater", "this seat is open!" Right off the bat. A few local patrons "adopted" me as one of their own, even though I was just in town visiting. Drinks are cheap. And there is an outdoor area for smoking, with heat lamps in the winter. Next was the security. They were professional, courteous, and made the experience seamless and fun. I felt safe and relaxed the whole time which is saying something at a metal show. The bar tenders were all friendly and efficient. They did not bat an eye when I ordered my strange metal show cocktail (whiskey and redbull).
