We have used various photographers over the years for our children's pictures. Renee may be one of the more expensive ones we have used, but her professionalism and pictures are well worth the investment. Our children (especially the younger one) don't even speak English well but somehow she is able to engage them and get them to have fun at our photoshoots. This year, I warned her ahead of time that my almost 3yo covers his face and/or sticks out his tongue whenever someone tries to take his photos. She said, "No problem! I have some tricks up my sleeve." Sure enough, my 2yo did exactly what I predicted and refused to cooperate for what felt like a good part of the photoshoot. Then towards the end of the session, my 5yo got a few splinters in her hand and was upset. When we received our pictures, I was pleasantly surprised to see all these smiles that she captured in between the pouts and meltdowns. She was paying attention EVERY.SINGLE.SECOND of our photoshoot. We booked Renee on relatively short notice, and we were so fortunate to literally snag her last available slot for the year. We booked a regular family session and working with her was wonderful. I requested an outdoor session with more urban feel, as our past sessions were in parks and beach. She recommended the Pleasanton Firehouse, which was perfect. Had so many textures, fantastic light, while having a wide space where our children could safely run around. She was really flexible and responsive to everyone in our family. My husband had just had surgery, so he couldn't pick up either of our young sons. She accommodated his needs by adjusting some of her posing. She took in stride the attitude our 6 yr old decided to exhibit that night, and worked with the "reverse psychology" approach I suggested. The photos were simply wonderful. If you are looking for a photographer there is no need to look any further. Renee has photographed my family for the last couple of years - from Christmas pictures, to individual pictures of my kids, and she has done event pictures for 2 of my son's birthday parties. I just received the pictures she took of my son (his 4th year pictures) and I am sitting here in shock. I can't believe how good they are....my son is IMPOSSIBLE to shoot, hates getting his picture taken, and I just opened a gallery with 140 pictures of him smiling, laughing, and having a great time.
