Definitely overpriced, but still pretty good. We tried the Kletskop and Crunchy Hazelnut, and they were very generous with the toppings. That said, it came out to about $25 USD for just two stroopwafels, which felt steep, especially since you can find similar ones around the city for much cheaper that I hear are just as good. Still, if you're a tourist visiting for the first time, it's probably worth trying at least once.
We tried a few stroop wafels and I have to say these were the best. We got original so we could see what the hype was about. I kind of wish I had gone back to try them chocolate dipped as we tried another place later like that and they definitely werent as good. The line was a bit long but they seem to have it down pretty good here so we didn't wait too long. Store itself is small and cozy and cutely decorated. Staff was friendly and efficient. Worth trying if you have the time or the line isnt too long.
The storefront is adorable and inviting. We went and there was a line out the door but it moved quickly. Staff were friendly and service was quick. Everything tasted delicious. We tried the Kit Kat and Hazelnut and they didn't disappoint
When I visited Amsterdam, trying a stroopwafel was a must. I went to one of the most famous shops in the city for this iconic treat. There were so many kinds of stroopwafels in the shop, making it difficult to choose. I decided to get one of the larger stroopwafels at the counter and also grabbed a mini stroopwafel as a souvenir. I ordered the salted caramel stroopwafel. The staff dipped it in chocolate and added toppings. The waffle itself was soft , with a chewy texture from the syrup filling between the layers. It was sweeter than I expected, but still very good! It was a very cute shop, and I really enjoyed shopping for waffles there. It's a great place for tourists to find stroopwafel souvenirs!
I could not resist coming in after seeing the beautiful storefront of Van Wonderen Stroopewaffels. Year round, their storefront is inviting, welcoming to all and beautifully decorated for each season. I'm a sucker for attractive branding, so while waiting in line, I decided to buy a canister to take home. Unfortunately, the top metal canisters were just for show, and the only ones that were for sale were the cardboard ones. You can imagine the end (hint: crushed). At the counter, you can choose between mini or whole stroopwafels in various flavors. Just a heads-up: it can get quite messy! I ended up with caramel everywhere--crumbs and nuts scattered all over. Verdict: The exterior of the stroopwafels tasted stale. I've had better from packaged Daelmans available at the grocery store.
This location always seems to be jam packed, because it is the midst of a large shopping area/mall. We did wait in a line that wrapped around the restaurant, but it was fairly quick moving. We did have to wait 10+ minutes for our order though. They didn't have their prices clearly listed while we waited so we decided to get 3 mini stoop waffles so we can try the different flavors. three mini stoop waffles actually seems like a good sized snack amount for two people, but I guess since they made us wait so long for our order, they gave us 3 medium sized stoopwaffles. We paid about $31 for 3 mini stoopwaffles, which is definitely in the more expensive side. It seems like you get more bang for your buck though if you go for one of the larger sized stoopwaffles. These are a great option if you are sharing. They tasted great, but I do feel like they are overpriced.
While the stroopwafels are Insta-worthy here, I think you're better off going to a local spot where they handmake it in front of you --no toppings. But if you like going the extra mile then check this spot out. We only ordered one small stroopwafel (€10) to share since I was shocked how pricey they were. There's a variety of topping flavors to choose from and we opted for the Biscoff version. Not only was this pricey and small, it was so messy to eat. The crumbs of the toppings were falling all over the place and probably 1/3 of it ended up on the floor. It was also overly sweet. Overall, this spot is overhyped for what it is.
An absolute must when you're walking around Amsterdam! My hotel was only a few blocks away so I ended up going here three times throughout my stay. I loved that the stroopwafels come in difference sizes. I got the large one my first time and that's a lot of sweet caramel + toppings for one person! I think I got the smaller versions the next few times. My favorite was definitely the speculaas topping as that really complimented the warm caramel and waffle cookie. I forgot the name of the other topping, but it was this hard caramel center with a chocolate coating. That was also great, especially since the warmth of the stroopwafel helped melt the chocolate a little bit, but I realized I wasn't a huge fan of the hard caramel. Mom got a salted caramel topping that came in little balls and that was really good actually, I liked that one a bit more because the caramel was softer. Seemed like there was always a line here no matter what time we arrived but it goes fairly quickly so I don't think we ever waited more than about 20 minutes. They also sell really cute tins so we bought one of those as well as a keepsake. A sweet, sugary, and delicious treat that's prefect to graze on while you walk around sight-seeing. But pro tip, it can get messy towards the end even in the holder it comes in, so pack some wet wipes and bring them to clean your hands afterwards so they aren't sticky :)

I stopped by the famous Van Wonderen and the line was a bit long. It took about 15 minutes to order and maybe another 10 minutes to get my order. Price-wise, it's quite pricy for what you're getting. Despite all this, was it a good one-time try? Absolutely. The stroopwafels were fresh, not too sweet, and served in these cute pouches. Both flavors I got were delicious but the Crunchy Hazelnut is a must! I was pleasantly surprised. This is a must-stop for your first time in Amsterdam!

We had a gigantic stroopwafel at a street fair the day prior that was much more affordable, made fresh right in front of us, and tasted better. I think Van Wonderen is great if you want the Instagram-perfect experience, but if I were to return to Amsterdam, I would try to find somewhere more local instead.
The traditional all Dutch Stroopwaffle is delicious. Many flavors to choose from. All are freshly made right before you. This is a lovely little store, complete with a chandelier. The issue I have is the price. This is the costliest Stroopwaffle I have ever had. Check the receipt. Each medium Stroopwaffle is €8.45. That's a little crazy! The small one is €6.95. Definitely worth trying, once :)

10 euros! What?! The prices aren't posted, but we were taken aback when the girl said it was 10 euros at the register. I was suckered by the cute packaging and storefront. A lot of my topping fell off when I tried to eat it. Overall, it was too sweet and I guiltily didn't finish it.
Amsterdam, Netherlands You can't leave Amsterdam without trying a stroopwafel. While walking through the old town, I stumbled upon this place - yay, since my daughter had asked me to bring some back. They didn't have the variety available, so I went with a plain stroopwafel that came in a musical tin. Wow! That was a fun and unexpected touch. I find the prices of the fresh Stroopwafels pricey so I didn't get one. The salesperson was friendly and spoke good English, which made the experience pleasant. It wasn't busy during the said visit. You don't need to order the largest size! These were really delicious, warm and fresh but very sweet and rich. I needed some coffee or milk or water - maybe all three haha If I go back, I'll opt for the plain Stroop waffle without the chocolate and extra candy toppings. read more
I love stroopwafels! Had to try one of these, freshly made, because the store is adorable. There was a line so I thought they must be good. They are very expensive for what they are. I had the classic one; 1 regular size fresh stroopwafel (about the size of a large cookie) is about 11 euro in this store, which is about 5 times the price of an average Dutch stroopwaffel. It's all in the presentation though, and they look close to perfection. It's handed to you freshly made in a striking brightly colored and finely printed wrapping which varies depending on the topping or extra flavoring that you order. The stroopwafels here are the perfect mixture of flour, butter, brown sugar, milk, caramel and spice. Each one is handmade to order. The store is charming inside with crystal chandeliers, antique models of hot air balloons hanging all over, and the neat packages of stroopwafels are all displayed nicely. It's very popular and very touristic, but I'm happy that I was able to try one just for the experience and beautiful presentation. I'm part Dutch and having been to Amsterdam many times, I don't remember Van Wonderen being that big a deal a decade ago. So I think it has definitely become a hyped-up store and they've made it very fancy. Sort of like a Laduree for stroopwafels. Honestly, you can get freshly made stroopwafels much cheaper in most outdoor markets all over Holland. There's even a place on Albert Cuypstraat 194 called "The Stroopwafel Workshop" where you can take a class on how to make fresh stroopwafels and make your own batch for about the same price of about 3 stroopwafels purchased here. But you're paying for a luxury experience. Van Wonderen is positioning itself as the Hermès of Stroopwafels. Every year they now get more than 100,000 visitors to the store on the Kalverstraat. And their website says they sell over one million stroopwafels per year! read more

Tourist spot with fresh made stroopwafels that you can add one type of topping to -- but honestly, it was not so mind-blowing to wait in line for. I got in line and there were maybe 15-20 parties ahead of me, so I thought it wouldn't be too terrible, turns out I was wrong. It took an hour to get to the front of the line and put in my order. From there, it was about 5-10 minutes to receive my stroopwafel, which tasted great and fresh but not sure it was really worth the hype/wait or cost. It was 9 EUR for a medium size stroopwafel. The only plus is that you can pick which topping you want -- like oreo, kitkat, white chocolate, etc -- but the caramel filling was pretty sparse and you'll get better filled ones from a supermarket. If you're willing to wait to try out this spot, go for it, but it wasn't worth it for me. There's also a bunch of overpriced beautifully packaged stroopwafel sets for you to purchase in the store, and the store is decorated beautifully, but the actual fresh stroopwafel was too expensive and took forever. Operationally, it wasn't the most well-run shop especially with long lines. Definitely felt like a tourist trap and worth it once but wouldn't come back if I wanted stroopwafels again. read more

I'm not quite sure why people make a big deal out of this place. It is one of the more expensive desserts I have had in Europe. They offer a mini or small, medium and large Stroopwafels all starting at over 10 Euros each. For a family of 3, total costs for all to have a medium was 39 Euros. After ordering, you must wait for them to make it (versus ordering and getting it right at that time). They must have lost my order because at least 6-7 people after me received their order before me. I went up to the counter and mentioned the same, they took my receipt, then made my order. These are messy as all get out even though they come in holder. Hopefully you have hand wipes or napkins handy as you are guaranteed to get something on you. As for the taste, I wasn't impressed. I would pass on these should I ever return to Amsterdam. read more
Years ago, my friend brought me back some stroopwafels from her trip to Amsterdam and I absolutely loved them. I was so excited to try a fresh stroopwafel during my visit. After seeing so many posts of their giant stroopwafels, I had to check out Van Wonderon. The interior of the shop is very cute and whimsically decorated. We ordered the speculaas, crunchy hazelnut, and salted caramel flavors. The fresh, warm stroopwafels exceeded my expectations! I really enjoyed the gooey caramel but it does get messy to eat. My favorite was the speculaas! They're quite expensive so I'd probably share one next time. read more

Was it good? Yes Was it worth it? No There are better places right next door for way cheaper prices and bigger portions. It is a tourist trap due to aesthetics of the restaurant space and presentation of the food. My food, strangely enough, tasted like tootsie rolls for the brownie flavor. Also the smallest and cheapest option was a whopping 11.50 euros! Also the people working were not the friendliest. Just walk around the corner and save a lot of money! read more

Very overpriced for an below average waffle that drips everywhere. But my 1 star is specifically for the security guard guy who had no manners on how to talk to paying customers. Me and my husband were waiting on the bench inside for the rain to pass just like several other customers. This guy comes and rudely starts saying we cannot eat inside. Mind you there are no signs anywhere about this. My husband who rarely ever gets angry was upset with the way we were spoken too. He walked up to the guy and recommended that there be signs to inform people to which the guy responds it's obvious and if there is an issue you shouldn't be buying when it's raining. Lmao , the attitude from an employee towards paying customers. Please do not support such an obnoxious business. read more

Overpriced, quality could be much better. Ambience is good, Instagram worthy! Plenty of options but not worth the price. Pricing by menu item/ ingredient would make more sense. Service could be better - answer questions more promptly, one person dedicated to taking orders read more
Is this place a tourist trap? Kind of. Is it the best stroopwafel I've had? Yes. Listen, this place is small. Small as in if you're not the first 5 customers, you're waiting outside in a long line that goes out the building. I knew when coming to Amsterdam that I wanted to try this before leaving so I came early to avoid the long wait time. The price is kind of high for what you get. Two small stroowafels were €10 each. I believe my friend got the cookie butter wafel and I picked out the salted caramel wafel. The stroopwafel was warm, soft, and delectable. It wasn't too sweet at first but half way through I knew my body would not be okay with consuming all the sugar and I had to toss the remaining half. I probably won't visit this place again as for me it is a one and done type of thing. However, I will say it's worth going at least once! read more

Very cute store, definitely social media worthy. However, for authenticity that isn't targeted too much to tourists and social media I do think that going to the old fashioned stall at Albert Cuypmarkt is a better stroopwafel experience. But this is a good place to go if you need to bring back some edibles souvenirs for friends and family. It's a messy eating experience so get a lot of napkins! read more
Super cute shop! My friend brought be here and I'm so glad we were able to have stroopwafel in Amsterdam. It wasn't busy at all when we went. Staff were nice and helpful and patient while we considered our options. Cookies are made fresh and you can pick from various toppings. I chose a special cookie crumble from the Netherlands. I wish we had time to go back and get another. I'll definitely be back on my next trip! read more

There was a queue so we stopped. Very pleasant surprise. Thin waffle cookies topped with chocolate and your choice of toppings. Salted caramel is hard to beat. Tasty. Very friendly staff. read more
Stood in line for an hour for these stroopwafels. Not only was this place highly recommended and visited according to multiple online sources, it was cute and tasty. It's super cramped inside and has a horrendous system. You order at the counter and wait for them to call the number on your receipt (also inside). It's tiny and you're literally standing wall to wall people. They sell prepackaged stroopwafels which make perfect souvenirs/gifts to bring back home to people (or just eat later yourself) but it's on the waiting side of the place, not the ordering side, so you literally have to make a fast decision whether you want something or not and squeeze your way to go get it by the time you're in the door. I got the medium sized stroopwafel with lotus cookies on it and it was tasty. Was made right after ordering, fresh, warm, and the right amount of sweetness. read more

The worst stroopwaffles I've had in the Netherlands. You're better off getting the stroopwaffles in Aldi's than these expensive pieces of sweet cardboard. I can't believe I paid almost $30 for these 2 stroopwaffles that weren't half good. Too thin and it tasted like it's been sitting out for a while. Not even picturesque!! The store was very busy, and we waited for over 10 minutes in line. Worst purchase during my vacation. Tourists - beware! read more
