Came to Rene's to enjoy dinner for my best friends bachelor party. When we arrived we had no clue where to see a hostess. Finally got menus and then were told it's an hour wait after ordering. It took almost 2 hours from arrival to getting our food. The bartender seemed annoyed with our drink request (basic bottles of beer and such). After we got our food the food was great. Ok we have been coming to Rene's for as long as I can remember whenever we are in town. It's probably the nicest/best restaurant in the area, being a step above many of the little taverns that seem to care less about quality food. The salad bar is always great, they have a wide variety of fresh condiments. I usually order the sirloin dinner, which is always a reliably good option, as well as the ribeye and local fish. The service is always on point, accommodating, and cheery when we come in with big groups, they go out of their way to get everything right and fulfill our needs as diners. They might have overcooked a steak once, but that has been the extent of any issues we've ever had there. Highly recommend Rene's and I'll probably be in next time I'm up. read more

Excellent service & impeccably clean establishment. Open 7 Days a week. Old fashions are tasty. Nice menu with many steak options. The tenderloin is the specialty though. Sort of hate to disclose this location, however it's so well known to area "locals" and anyone near Popp's Resort, you can't go wrong lining up for dinner-time (reservations suggested) at Rene's. Reviews were great so we decided to try Rene's. Service in the dining room was excellent. The bar tender was terribly rude and not very helpful. We ordered walleye and the batter was definitely not seasoned. We were from out of state and had the feeling that Rene's must be a locals only place. read more
