Renew is an awesome Church. Pastor Matt is wonderful and all the members are very welcoming. It's a great place to workshop God.

Miles, the lead pastor of the church has a special spiritual gift of reaching all types of people. With his biblical teachings coupled with his personal testimonies, wisdom, and discernment his message is powerful, moving, and motivating. In addition, with many others of the church that share their spiritual journeys, along with special guests as well allow for significant spiritual growth and life-changing transformations to happen. I feel that my life feels more gratifying. satisfying, more peaceful, more loving, grounding, forgiving, and really my eyes consistently focused on God because of the difference the San Diego Rock church has made in my life. The San Diego Rock church is great for spiritual growth as well as connecting with like-minded people, but it's how you decide to live your life once you leave church on a daily basis. So many people have transformed their lives for the better, not perfect but improved due to continued spiritual inspiration that the San Diego Rock church represents. No matter what church you attend, I hope it is a powerful, inspiring, and life changing journey for your life. May you be blessed!

Did you know they have a superior summer camp they run at Point Loma Nazarene University? I came across it on a walk and was so impressed with the way staff was handling the camp population and visitors. I spoke with some young men from all over San Diego and Las Vegas! They were having the "best time of their year" they said and love staying in the dorms and meeting so many other young people of faith. I saw cornhole games and ping pong tables by the library and other games scattered around campus. There were also many chaperones and information tables set up for check ins and safety. It happens every year and I highly recommend you consider sending your children to this summer camp! Go on their website to check dates and availability! Great Summer Camp!

GETTING HERE: Head…read moreon Interstate 5 towards San Diego. Follow the signs and you'll be able to locate it. (I would recommend the Nobel Drive off-ramp if you're heading South). MOOD: Ready for some spiritual uplifting and peaceful vibes. REVIEW: This is not an LDS church building, as Yelp and possibly other Yelpers are under the impression. This is a sacred Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; not a "Mormon Temple". This Temple was dedicated in 1993, for which I went through the Open House then and it was just as magical and spectacular as it was earlier this month, July 2026. The reason why this was open to the public for tours presently is because it was retrofitted and earthquake-proofed and was in need of mandatory updating and renovations. Due to those reasons, it needed to be rededicated. After the dedication, it will no longer be open to the public for tours. (This data is important because in reading other reviews, people were misinformed). This Open House was an amazing experience. From the youth volunteers, to the missionaries, to everyone in-between. Thank you for your dedication and service to the Temple.

We were then walked over to someone who told us the general rules of not taking photos or videos inside. They had people help put on shoe covers to protect the carpet cleanliness and also helped us take them off once we were done. The tour guide was happy to answer any questions as we walked through the temple. - EXPERIENCE - As a whole, the tour was very nice and I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to see the temple. However, I was a bit uncomfortable after a staff interaction. We were clearly speaking English to other people as we went into the tent, but once we sat down, one staff member came up to our group and immediately started speaking Mandarin. Whether if some of us understood her (actually only 3/10 of us) or not, the fact she assumed we would know was a bit off-putting and made me feel uncomfortable. It's not like we were speaking Mandarin amongst ourselves before she came up to us either. That was the only negative part of our experience.

Immediately I felt welcomed and knew this was a church that provided sermons that were not misleading, even when I did not want to hear it, and kept my attention, which was very important to me. The fact that they provide complementary coffee and refreshments is just an example to the kindness that you see within this church. Although it is small and the parking may not be ideal at times, I understand that they are in the midst of finding a home to accommodate everyone and those new like myself. I always joke around with my mom on the phone and say I will cry if I ever have to move and leave this church because I finally found one that resonates with me. If you are wondering about attending, don't hesitate, the Lord is calling you here, and even if I had to move back... I would drive here just to attend. Stay blessed! -Gabby

In the last 3 years, we have developed strong relationships with friends, been fed spiritually in numerous growth groups, and become plugged in to serve the church in the worship, childcare, and production teams. We love this church so much, we love its people, we love its commitment to spiritual growth and outreach, and we love how it has equipped us to commit to putting Jesus at the center of our lives and our marriage. I highly recommend checking this church out if you're looking for fresh, fun, scripture-first messages. I am biased, but our worship team is next level. If you're on the fence about Jesus or your faith, take a moment and stop by the Grove.

God gave Pastor Rick and Kay Warren the dream to plant a church for people who didn't like church, and he led them to Southern California. Our first service was held on April 6, 1980. Over the next 43 years, we witnessed God perform miracle after miracle as we moved locations, raised money for permanent buildings, launched campuses in California and around the world, and baptized over 50,000 people. In September 2022, we welcomed Pastor Andy Wood as our new lead pastor. As we step into the future, we’re believing God will do more than we could ever ask for or imagine.
