I inquired about early lease termination for this reason and of course got the corporate jargon answer. So let's get into the details of what it means to live at Twin Lakes. The bad: In our particular unit there is a often times the smell of cigarettes and marijuana coming from our bathroom. It is probably coming from the vents. There will be young adults smoking marijuana by the lake which you must walk through on dog walks and to get to your car. While they say that this is disallowed they will simply say that can't control smoking outside even though in the same breath they claim that they will charge for such problems. It is an old building and mice have made its home here as well. I have had one in my apartment, sent pictures to the office of them in the lobby and there are carcasses of dead mice by the door. During peak times it is impossible to shower as hot water runs out quick, and a more annoying issue is the water pressure. There is a 50/50 chance that the water will come out of the spout after you come home from work to make dinner or take a shower. Elevators have regular issues, I have been stuck on multiple occasions and often times they are out of service. The doors sometimes do not open so you have to manually do it. Laundry machines are $2.25 per wash and $2.25 per dry. You will spend very quickly $200 per month just on these fees. You must add extra time to the dryer for an additional $.75 as the regular time mode will leave your clothes wet still. You will often times be charged and the machine will not take so you must pay again. Sometimes one load of laundry will cost you $8.00. Over the years the fire alarms of gone off quite frequently, night/day winter/summer doesn't matter. To me this wasn't a big deal but if you have a baby as I shared, this is not only unpleasant but a danger to developing kids. You will be told to sign up for some package locker and pay some $80/year but no delivery courier puts it there. Instead they are left on the floor in the lobby. The good : The location and the maintenance staff. They do what they can with what they have. If you are a single person and don't intend to spend much time at home then this place may work for you, however if you consider the price it is certainly worth going anywhere else

There are loud residents as well as smokers. Packages are not secured in Luxer System, so a lot is stolen. Many times things don't make it into the actual area in the building. They are left in the foyer. Parking can be an issue on weekends. If the prime parking passes are available, pay the extra to insure your space. There are problems with ants, mice, etcetera. They are increasing rent, and I noticed many moved out this spring/summer due to this reason. Residents talked. Be sure to shop around the area before signing a lease. There are other options which are newer or better renovated. They did not send reasons as to why I didn't receive a full deposit. I had fixed nail holes, cleaned decently, and to be honest, it was left better than what I walked in to in 2022. The ladies in the office are amazing as is the maintenance crew. The apartments are decently sized with storage. It is located in a good area.

The high prices are because of the area and supposed amenities. For the location near grocery stores, the hwy, and the train on top of the amenities it makes sense, but to be honest it not worth it for the money anymore. Amenities are not maintained well and/or have very restrictive hours. The apartments are not well insulated so your utilities are typically really high no matter the season. The increasing amount of prohibited items on patios is getting out of hand. No rugs (even outdoor ones I guess), lights, bikes, storage items, drapes, or grills are allowed on your patio. You are however allowed to grill if you are 100ft away from the building. For 2,700 a month the inability to decorate your patio or store your bike out there(because the storage included with most patios is no where near big enough) is very disappointing. They put in communal grills to make up for the change of no longer allowing grills on patios, but theyre only close to the leasing office, so you'll have to walk a ways to get to one. They try to offset many downsides with outdoor movies and free donut day every once in a while. In regards to amenities: Gym is 24/7 and equipment is fine, but I really don't thinking its cleaned very well. Every time I go there is hair and dust all over the floor, which is disgusting because they have an area with yoga mats where you are very close to the ground doing your work out. The bathroom in the gym is connected to the pool and its not well maintained either, everything in there is falling apart. Pool next to the gym should be heated when weather drops below a certain temp, however it's not. The main pool was "down for maintenance" the first day it was advertised to be open for the season. They gave no notice other than a small sign taped on the gate. It was down for a while, which is interesting since they had plenty of time prior to it opening for the season for things to get fixed, as the weather had been good for a bit over a month. Sand volleyball area is not maintained at all. There is always goose poop, garbage, or other stuff in there that makes it unusable. There is a dog park that is again not maintained. There are tons patches where there is no grass just dirt, so when its slightly damp out your dog will be a muddy mess. There is supposed to be two tennis courts but one is always locked. Feels like the movie theater is just for show. You really can only use it on the weekends because it's only open during business hours and trying to get a hold of people in the leasing office to make an appointment is next to impossible, I suppose if you email them or go in person you might have better luck.

The maintenance is the best part of this place. Jeff does a wonderful job with fixing things around the place and always very polite and nice. I recommend this place highly. The people who complain about how old the apartments are and the floors are also the kind of people who expect a high-end pent house suite for $900-something a month in the suburbs of Chicago aka unrealistic. Even after fresh mulching and a downpour of rain knocking everything onto the sidewalks, the grounds crew cleans it all up very fast. There was a drainage problem this Spring/Summer with standing water in the entrance causing potholes, so instead of just cheap patchwork that most places would do, the apartments installed a large drain system under the road and repaved everything nicely - and fast. The apartments themselves vary in upkeep/updating, but even the older models are very nice. Appliances are all kept up in nice condition and if there is ever a problem, maintenance will fix it quickly. The units are shockingly quiet, despite some noisy neighbor problems, but what can you do? The building is nicely insulated, keeping your utility costs down. Apartment staff is super friendly and helpful. I hope they never change!

They have public laundry rooms but if you pay more you can have a washer and dryer in your apartment. It's very useful if you like to do laundry late at night. Some of the apartments will have walk-in closets. If you live upstairs you'll have a nice balcony. Maintenance is very good here, they respond quickly. The apartment staff is very pleasant and helpful. They provide cat sitting in case you're out of town. They can only change the food and water, they can't empty the cat litter. Your neighbors in your building are very kind. They'll bring in your packages and set it by the mail area. That's if it's not too heavy or bulky. Cons: Spacious parking although you'll find that people don't have parking skills. Your "neighbors" also drive like idiots here. They either drive super slow or they pull out in front of you. Be wary that these neighbors also like to walk in front of cars vs using the sidewalks. Like anywhere else, you got morons living close to you. It's relatively safe but you do see a bunch of random weirdos that drive around the parking lots and not really stopping. Overall about a 3.5 due to the incompetent drivers, idiots, and weirdos.

They don't answer phone calls or respond to emails--yet if you walk into the office, you'll often find them sitting at their desks chatting with each other instead of doing their jobs. It's frustrating and unprofessional. They have no problem sending out email after email with restrictions and demands, but when it comes to communicating with residents or addressing real concerns, they go completely silent. To make matters worse, on April 28th, they turned off the heat while the outside temperature is currently 47 degrees. When I tried to contact Marquette Companies (located in Naperville) during business hours, no one answered. Just another voicemail. This entire organization lacks basic customer service, professionalism, and accountability. Save yourself the headache and avoid this place at all costs.

The snow removal process is a joke they only shovel the walk ways so you have to just hope you don't slip in the parking lot walking to or from your car cuz they won't shovel it. the hallways are horribly ventilated always smell like smoke or garbage one time someone threw up down the hallways and stairs and when I complained about it I was told it was not an emergency and it did not get cleaned until days later I could go on and on about my experiences here the only appealing thing about it is the neighborhood it's located in and overall if I could give this place a zero I would.

Yeah, there was some petty crime, and some of the wrong types of people occasionally showing up, but I never felt unsafe living there. The buildings are going on thirty years old, and as a previous reviewer indicated, the condition of your appliances might be subpar. Mine sure were, and the dryer in the building NEVER worked properly despite having been replaced twice... blocked ducts? All in all, I managed to make a good home at Ascot Glen for thirteen years before a job change forced me to relocate out of state. If you're looking for an apartment in the Willowbrook-Westmont area, Ascot Glen is about as good as it gets. When I asked if I could just see the actual unit today, they refused saying they 'don't show them until they're cleaned.' This is deceptive practice, dishonest landlords. Everyone beware.
