We've never had a problem getting a court, even on the most beautiful days, and there's a fence separating every two courts, so you don't end up with too many balls rolling on your court from strangers. So I just moved to the Bay Area, and this park is the closest one to work. We have tennis clinics there in the morning every Monday and Wednesday. I've been there to play tennis frequently after work. Parking can be annoying if there's something going on, but generally it's easy. The courts are really well maintained. They will get crowded after work, and there are metal timers you can use to sign in. People will hold you to them if you're waiting, so make sure you use them if you want to stay on the court. I haven't used a ton of the rest of the park, but they've got walls for handball that you can also use for tennis. There are big fields and a pool. Overall, it's a really well-maintained park. read more

This review is based more on the Skatepark than the Playground area. Overall the Rengstorff park is big and open. Nice to walk around with plenty of shade and cool breeze from the bay. I have not used other facilities. I often take my kids here when I am in the area and want to use the skatepark to get sum exercise. (Skatepark) Since they remodeled the Skatepark, it is so much better than before. More room, more ramps and they took out the stupid curb divider that broke up the flow of the park. If you haven't been there in over ten yrs then you should try it again. All ramps are metal to asphalt. Mostly Street even-tho there is a mini ramp, two quarter ramps and a little spine. Street aspects are small but not bad for messing around, half pyramid, Kicker, three rails, one flat, one rounded-radius & one tall kinked, and dinky funbox with sloped rail. Like I said much improvement from before. (Pros) ITS FREE! They do keep resurfacing the metal ramps because they can get slippery over time with use. Thats nice. Also clean most of the time. Code enforcement does show up often. Small but fun enough to get a workout. Great for Beginners. (Cons) Only problem is the little kids that tend to ride (populate) there do not understand the concept of not blocking the flow of the ramps when other people are trying to use them. Thus a potential of someone getting hurt. Hey take your turn then MOVE. Skatepark rule 101. Could use another bank or platform at the "start" otherwise skate flow leaves you flying into the fence and having to stop or run into other skaters waiting for a turn. Not much shade inside park area but oh well. _____________________ (Playground) Kids seem to like it, if they were older I'd get their opinions. (Pros) Clean and open. Good Shade. (Cons) No Fence? nice to not worry about someone walking in and taking my kid if I look away for a second, so no relaxing for me. Busy street about 100 feet away with only a Field of green grass between the park and st. Little kids are fast and hard to chase at times. Plus, SAND? most parks don't use it anymore, I guess I don't mind just don't let your kids eat it unless you want them to have worms. Sometimes annoying when sand gets into everything so... yeah. read more

This must be the biggest park in Mountain View! I went to this park today with my kid and my friends . It was easy to find a parking space (there are two big parking lots). We joined a 100 people barbecue party out there. Kids were running around,we were seating under the big trees chatting ,listening to the living rock band and eating yummy ice creams. So many kids,so many activities and so much fun. There are many beautiful trees ,flowers, a children's playground(slide,swing,see saw) ,a spacious outdoor pool and a soccer field ,a tennis court and a basketball court in the park. Anyway,it is fun to spend the weekend there with kids, family members and friends! We definitely will come back here. read more

My daughter wanted a pool party for her birthday. So I looked into my local parks and rec. Turns out eagle and rengstorff pools offer parties at a reasonable rate. We hired a few life guards which are mandatory based on the amount of people. They really took care of us! The kids were tested on swimming capabilities at the beginning of the party and given wrist bands accordingly. A big hit was the super cool water slide! The kids loved it. We brought in our own pizza, cake and snacks. I highly recommend this place for parties! read more

For just a run in the park this place isn't bad. We however reserved the area and it doesn't include much. They don't allow the use of portable BBQ grills so charcoal only. Their basketball courts are first come first serve. The only restrooms are right around the swimming pool, so kind of a far walk from the picnic area. And the restroom really stinks.. read more

Be careful here. We live nearby and have young children. Due to homeless RV encampment we do not feel it's safe. We've witnessed prostitutes and drug deals on numerous occasions. Mountain View refuses to enforce parking laws allowing ~50 permanent vehicles with people living in them on the street directly across from pool and BBQ entrances. read more

Rengstorff is a large park with a toddler play structure, a play structure for older kids, a skate park, a pool, and some sporting areas. We have a toddler and love to come to Rengstorff when we spend the day in Mountain View. The play structures have sand all around them so our daughter will play for a long time with sand toys. The only thing that isn't ideal, is that it is not gated and so our two-year old loves to run over to the "big kid" side where the older kids are running around and usually don't see her. Also, the most convenient place to park to go to the toddler area is at the curb on Rengstorff which is pretty trafficky and near the train - so it's not that easy to pull out to get back to El Camino. Overall, this is one of our favorite parks to go to. read more

The community center is here and you can reserve rooms for group lectures, etc. However, there is no wireless Internet. I'm not sure if it's called Rengstorff community center or Mountain View community center or what. The building is older. It has basic technology hookups, but nothing too fancy. The large lecture room downstairs is like a dungeon: darker, no windows, no distractions! read more

I like the different amenities of the park as well as the nice shaded patches of freshly trimmed green grass for doing a workout. However, it's not very peaceful. There is a lot of noise pollution from the nearby freeway and train that goes by literally across the street. read more

I'm only commenting on the pool facilities and lap swimming. I prefer to swim at eagle pool, but when it's not available, I have no choice but to swim here. For lap swimming, there are not enough designated medium speed lanes. I was swimming during noon with 4 people in the fast lane 7 people in the medium lane and 2 people in the slow lane. There was a guy doing kicks in the fast lane and was told by the lifeguards to move over into a slower lane. He tried the slow lane and the old lady refused to circle swim and he ended up in the lane i was using... 8 people. I really dislike the changing area. If you walk off the deck into the changing area you have to walk through the showers. The shower area is really basic. It's square room with the shower heads all at the center of the area. read more

I've gone swimming a handful of times at the Eagle Park Community Center Pool. They've got a good number of lanes (25 yards in length), and so far, I have not had trouble gaining access either during the weekday evenings (6-8pm) or weekends (9-ish am). It's an outdoor, heated pool, that's a little bit salty and a little bit chlorinated. The locker rooms are clean and simple, with plenty of showers and day-use lockers. If they had one of those swimsuit dryers, it would be dope. read more

Nice and big park that has something for everyone. Nice jogging routs, large playgrounds, infant and toddler play areas, a nice and clean swimming pool, Recreation and party area, Tennis courts, Skatepark, a free small outdoor gym, and many more. A very nice toddler play area that belongs to CCLC Playschool towards the southeast corner of the Park is open to public after 6 PM on weekdays. Park is usually crowded on summer evenings, but still has plenty of parking. The Swimming pool staff is nice and they have some good swim lessons. read more

I like the many trees here at this park, and I think every park needs shades, and Rengstorff definitely has this. It has a bunch of courts for basketball and tennis, some softball fields and soccer space as well. I go there to play tennis and never have trouble finding a court. It has a small stadium feel to it, so I get a little excited. BTW, if you are into tennis I managed to find a website where to find local people wanting to play tennis. This is a nice, large park to have nearby. It has a large field for playing soccer, ultimate, volleyball, etc; a couple bbq/party areas (reservations required, I think, depending on the season); multiple playgrounds/swingsets, basketball courts, a skate park, and a pool. I go to the park to play tennis so I'll talk more about that. There are eight well-maintained courts with lights and two unlit backboards. I wish the backboards had lighting too (for the late fall and winter when it gets dark early), but I can always head over to the Cuesta courts if I want to hit in the evening. There are usually at least one or two free courts, though sometimes they fill up in the hours after work. Unlike at the Cuesta courts, there are no employees here so the courts are always first come first served (with the exception of occasional group lessons for kids, which seem to reserve a couple of the courts at a time). In theory, the players here are supposed to indicate their start and finish time on a large board in the NW corner as a courtesy to people waiting to use the courts. But only some of the players actually do so. If you happen to go at a particularly busy time, you can sit in the bleachers next to the courts while you wait. I usually park in the lot off of Crisanto Ave (closer to the basketball courts) and then walk across the field to the tennis courts. This lets me avoid Rengstorff, which can back up at the traffic light/train tracks, particularly around rush hour. read more

Extremely disappointed that the city of Mountain View can not hire competent employees to work at the community center office. Twice my child's class was canceled and twice i was not informed of this and twice my daughter cried all the way home asking why she couldn't go to her class. If you are a parent you will understand how upsetting and frustrating this is, all because the employees at the front desk do not know how to send an e-mail informing of the canceled class. The second time around I found out my daughter was removed from the class without us even knowing about it. Please do better as you are supposed to be a "community center" that is all about children and families. I will let my neighbors and my daughter's classmates know to proceed with caution when they are thinking about enrolling their children at the community center to prevent future heartbreak and disappointment in the children. And before the office decides to respond to this, no a refund and a half ass apology is not enough. My daughter doesn't care about a refund she cares about learning and participating in a summer activity. read more

I really REALLY hate writing a bad review and especially for a park in my hometown. They just really messed things up for me and do not care so I have no other option but writing hopefully to catch their attention. I made a reservation for the BBQ area here for next month over a month ago. My in-laws went to see the park area in the evening time and said the BBQ area has a serious mice problem. That they were running all over. After hearing this I called and requested a refund. It's been way over a month since I requested the refund and I've received nothing in the mail. I wrote an email no response, finally my friend who let me use her address for the BBQ reservation came in to the office to see what's going on. They barely sent out the check and it still hasn't arrived. I will never ever reserve a park through mountain view again. The experience from the beginning was horrible. Sad to see just everything about Mountain View is going down. read more

It's a great park for the kids of different ages. The playground is big enough and the park territory as well. There is a wide stone slide, that the kids usually like, although it is easy to hurt yourself when there are a lot of kids on it. There are also a couple of playgrounds at the preschools in the park, which are very nice. I would recommend this park to the parents with kids of ages 2-7. read more

My hubby and I bring our 2 year old son to the park to run around and get his energy out before bedtime...the park is spacious and full of all types of great play structures for any age. It is PACKED full of parents and kids on hot evenings , and seems to be a great family gathering place...there are ice-cream pushcarts aplenty, and if you go at commute time, the kids can 'oooooohhhh' and 'ahhhhhh' when the train speeds past. My only 'meh' about the playground in the main park play area is there is some sort of water faucet thingie in the sand, and the kids go insane dumping buckets of water in the sand and making a huge, dirty, slurry mess...I mean, I get it...kids, park, sand...sandcastles, whatever...but if you didn't bring a change of clothes for your kid, and they get involved in wet sand funtimes, you, your car, and your kid, will look a fright. Also, you don't want your kid drinking that water or dumping it all over other kids. I say, bad move, city planners, the park already has a pool with a waterslide.... read more

Having lived in mostly urban areas for most of my life and having found parks there, shall we say, underwhelming, I experience Rengstorff as refreshing. It is large enough so one doesn't feel crowded even when there are a lot of people there. It has a public pool, tennis courts, many picnic areas, clean restrooms and absolutely no drugs or alcohol! It also has some weight-lifting machines free for public use...so nice if one cannot afford a gym membership. What I especially love about this park is the diversity of its visitors: on any given day, it's the United Nations engaged in peaceful recreation. read more

I LOVE THIS PARK! It's so close to home, and there is an outdoor gym for adults like they have in China and Japan. I feel blessed that I don't have to pay to use exercise equipment for once. There are also many tennis courts (as well as a back wall) and two basketball courts. There is a nice big field you can lie under numerous shady trees (perfect area for new walking babies to take their first steps), and there are two playgrounds that are open all hours of the day (one for 5 and under and another for 5 and older). There is also a skateboard park for your active kids to let off some steam, and during certain weekend hours, there are other tiny playgrounds from preschools that they allow non-preschoolers to play in when the gates are open. I haven't been to the water park/ swimming pool yet, but from outside the gate, it looks pretty well maintained. One last thing that this area has is the community center that you can sign you or your children up for classes like ballet, arts/crafts, summer camps, etc... All in all, I'd have to say that this park is the most kept up and the safest park that I have been to in all of CA. I hope you visit and enjoy the paved trails for walking/running too! read more
