In Sept of '24, I first brought the car to Rennen Imports for A/C service. In the process of diagnosing the issue, Stephen suggested I repair other needed maintenance-related issues as well as what was believed to be a lower compressor line on the A/C. After returning home from these repairs, I noticed grease splatter and leaking from the cv axles. This was taken care of on an additional visit at no cost to me. Then in Jan '25, I returned to have the A/C looked at again (for the original issue) and some new clunking noises that had surfaced from front end work. This time I'm told there is no visible issues with the A/C and the clunking noises could be anything. With the mis-diagnoses of the A/C, clunking issues, and leaking of the axle, I've decided that I can no longer trust the "guessing and wanting to throw parts at it", that Stephen made reference to. We had been bringing our Mercedes to Rennen Imports for some years , then the last time I picked up the car , all seemed fine until I read the service invoice and noticed a charge for $ 40 some for diesel exhaust fluid { DEF } which our Mercedes does not use ! My first visit went well so when my transmission failed I brought it there, and returned to have other work done with good results. Over the course of a year, repairs paid to Rennen exceeded $13k, including a $5650 transmission rebuild. I lost faith in their service after several issues including their mechanic incorrectly adding fluids (see photos of how far off this basic skill it was done). I also paid for a water pump even though Steve (owner) and I discussed that it had been replaced two years prior. To his credit, he asked and that saved me money. Many attempts were made by Rennen to fix an oil leak and in the process, (David?) wrote up the service issues and did not ask about the water pump so they replaced it at a cost of $613 + labor. I had to return after having service done there because there was an intermittent "hoo" sound. I had to return twice because they didn't hear the sound, then on the next visit the mechanic greeted me annd immediately diagnosed that it was the diaphragm making the noise. He said "easy fix" and $749 later it was out the door (the diaphragm is located in the oil trap so the whole unit had to be replaced). I spent several visits trying to get them to fix an oil leak issue, other parts had to be replaced because they were getting fouled by oil, when I finally gave up and took the car back to the dealer, who said an oil seal had been missed and that the oil trap was bad - WHAT?? I asked them not to discard the one they remove. Turns out the oil trap Rennen replaced did not appear to be a new part and the inner sleeve which is supposed to fit snugly within it did not. If you complain they'll tell you to go elsewhere, while the dealer treats customers with respect and stands behind their work. If a transmission issue arises, I don't even know who to go to or if the work is warrantied, since they jobbed the work out. If you have an older car, consider going elsewhere. They don't value your time or patronage even if you've shelled out $13k to them. read more

Backstory: purchased a new to me MINI S from MINI of Tampa Bay after an accident in 2020 in the height of Covid lockdown, this Is my 3rd MINI. Within a short time period or ownership, I had an issue and drove straight to Rennen (yellow light on, which ok to drive, but advised to have look at). What happened: This was so serious that I couldn't even put words to the experience until now, I could have been killed and killed others because of the condition my vehicle was in leaving Rennen for something that ended up being a relatively simple fix. I was quoted thousands of dollars in repairs beyond the necessary repair -- They were like YOUR CAR IS A MESS (which, their quote was TRIPLE what the dealership and another shop ended up quoting/costing). MINI offered to make right on the repair- I went to pickup my vehicle to take it to the dealer. The Rennen team knew I was headed to have repairs made elsewhere. I paid for this business for my car to basically go into shutoff mode while en route to another facility leaving at 5pm on a weekday with every red light coming on my dash. Once again--I could have killed myself and others, thank god I wasn't on the bridge as I had planned- i detoured because I know the car wouldn't make it safely. I would have gladly towed it. My necessary repair ended up being 400 dollars on top of what these guys didn't do for $120 in "assessments" (& days with my car) which in essence is peanuts compared to what I was quoted. I can't believe that I was allowed (and encouraged!) to drive the car away and this was allowed this in good conscience? I have expressed these sentiments to the owner when he reached out recently for booking an appointment & asked that they take this situation to heart moving forward. *please also note, I had once visited Rennen with my 2nd MINI about a year ago & a few months prior to the 3rd MINI & most recent experience, they told me that there were also thousands of dollars of work needed on a car that had been serviced by warranty & extended warranty regularly at the dealership that had expired about 2 months prior. read more

Rennen Imports may not offer fancy coffee or loaner cars, but they are hardworking and honest mechanics. I wouldn't trust our car with anyone else. My husband realized he had been getting ripped off at the Lexus dealership for years when he first took his car to Rennen. Unlike the larger repair shops, Rennen won't try to make unnecessary repairs or overcharge you for parts. After a recent car accident Rennen was able to repair my husband's car the same day he brought it in and they drove him to his office so that he didn't have to get a taxi. Brought in a 2012 BMW X5 in to be checked out before purchasing from a dealership. Hank took the time to explain everything. He also showed me some significant problems that the dealership was clearly trying to hide or at best hope would be ignored. There was significant oil leaks and Hank showed me that the drive belt had been replaced showing many of the signs of damage that could ultimately lead to engine failure. I went there in an emergency situation after Volvo of Tampa tried to tell me that I needed to spend $7,500 on an engine rebuild. Rennen assessed the situation, changed my oil, added an additive, and changed my oil pressure sensor for $300. So far, so good and my engine is still running just fine. I plan on using them exclusively from now on and we will also be bringing our VW to them for repairs and maintenance. I had experienced problems with my battery in my 2007 Mercedes. Steve was kind enough to have my vehicle picked up at my South Tampa residence and allegedly diagnosed the problem...I even left the vehicle with Rennen over the weekend. I paid $1,400 plus for labor and replacement of parts that would, I was advised, cause the power drain to stop. The car was returned to me...I paid by check...the following Monday, there was no power. I could not start the car. Try calling the phone number listed on their web site, after hours, to leave a message...can't do it because 'the voice mail box has not been set up." Try speaking with Steve first thing in the morning during normal business hours...not available. Take your Mercedes elsewhere for successful repairs...just don't take it here. These guys are fantastic and I would strongly recommend them to anyone in search of a thorough, knowledgeable and trustworthy service shop for their vehicle. We found Rennen after being COMPLETELY and UTTERLY screwed every which way by BOTH of the Tampa Volkswagen dealers. Naturally after such horrendous experiences with the dealership (which we always thought would be trustworthy under the umbrella of the national brand corporation - and which we had had wonderful experiences with in other states), I was extremely skeptical of any car service moving forward, but had found a number of positive reviews about Rennen so I decided to give it a shot. From my very first visit, I had good vibes. As others have said, the place is "no frills" (they do have coffee, a restroom, and wifi, but you're basically sitting in a mechanics shop. Actually this is quite refreshing since there are no walls between you and the management/staff so you hear and see everything - they're very transparent, very authentic). They explained everything to me and never pushed services on me. Helped me prioritize what was more urgent and what could wait and were extraordinarily diligent and accommodating when it came to my unique scheduling needs. I had to wait for the car and leave before noon for each service appointment so they divided the work up into a couple of visits and always ensured I was done ahead of my requested schedule. I feel so fortunate to have found this place to service our vehicle(s) and hopefully our vehicle(s) won't need as much service now that we are getting things done properly the first time!! I had my 2006 BMW E90 towed in because it wouldn't start. I was told it had a bad negative battery cable and would cost $454 total to repair. I looked up this cable with IBS ground included on Amazon and the highest retail was $239 for which they upcharged me $376. The final bill was $669 for the replacement of this one cable. I approved the $454 and asked for the bad cable. I never approved the increase in cost and never received the bad cable. I called the dealer and asked for an estimate for this same repair and they came quoted a price of $420 and would take less than one hour to fix. They also replaced a two week old battery under Autozone warranty telling me it was bad. I provided them with my receipt and they replaced it supposedly for free. I also asked them to read the Check Engine code however it wasn't listed on the receipt and I now have to take it back in to the dealer to get this issue resolved. In all I feel that $669 was too much for the replacement of this $239 cable especially since the overpriced dealer would have done it for $420 including labor. read more

I trust and fully believe, that they are more reliable, knowledgeable, and trustworthy than any other repair shop or dealer. They take time to research the best possible prices for parts and have saved me thousands and thousands over the years. I know this because I was quoted repair costs at Bentley previous to Rennen , and was in shock when they gave me their quote! They will explain the parts that have to be replaced for safety purposes and then tell you the parts that you don't have to replace at this time. Whereas, any other shop would lump all parts together as 100% necessary and charge 5x the amount. They are even willing to research used parts if interested. The staff are so personable, accommodating, and knowledgeable! Added bonus-I love the fact that they have their dogs in there and can sneak some puppy love when in there too! read more

To sum my review up I have a 2012 BMW X6, and I REFUSE to take my baby ANYWHERE else besides RENNEN IMPORTS! The management, all the way down to the technicians are ALL GRADE A workers!! I'll explain and tell you why below: I had been in a big bind/ordeal dealing with this vehicle. My car was a BIRDS NEST under the hood with previous owners doing funny things to the car. I had multiple engine fault codes, with the main one being a cylinder 3 misfire. It has seen a total of FOUR different mechanics, with the final stop being Rennen Imports. First stop wasted about a good three months with trying this and doing that. Second stop was not ill-equipped to do the job. The third stop was Bert Smith BMW, and I will NEVER take my vehicle back there again! First of all it took almost an entire month to get to a conclusion. At first they said I had a DME issue, and I needed the valvetronic and escentric shaft sensor to be replaced; on top of that, they were going to charge me +$4k just for those two things to be fixed! I took it to the previous mechanic for a second opinion, and then brought it back to Bert Smith to do the job. When they ran the diagnostic again, they said that my DME (untouched) was now fine. I did not want to pay that much money just for it to POSSIBLY fix my issue and it sounded like they were trying to jerk me around when they said my untouched DME is now fine, so that's when I did some research and found Rennen Imports. I spoke with David (the owner or manager) and gave him the full run down of all the stress, wasted time, and lost patience I have had with this vehicle and mechanics and he assured me that they would take care of my baby, and that is EXACTLY what they did. Steve and his team was who was working on my vehicle and they are SUPERB. I was kept up t date and speed daily on the status of my vehicle. Steve saw damage in my vehicle that they had never seen before, but they all were able to figure out the huge mess of wiring, electrical, and mechanical issues that presumed. One part of it took about 4 hours, but since Steve told me it'll take two, that's what he charged me for! The best part is that they did TWICE AS MUCH WORK as what Bert Smith would have done, for HALF THE PRICE!!!! Please people, if you have a foreign/European car that you love and cherish, take your vehicle here, look nowhere else, because the type of work, INTEGRITY, LOVE & CARE they put into their jobs does NOT GET ANY BETTER!! Rennen has a customer for LIFE with me!! I could NOT have been anymore satisfied!! I will not trust ANYBODY else to even TOUCH my vehicle!! Thanks Rennen!!!
