I've been going to Reno Buggie Barn for years. Very impressed with the quality of work they do. I have a number of VW's that need all kinds of work. Belts, hoses, wheel baring, electrical issues, engine work, steering etc. They have always treated me well. I'm a passionate person, I try my best constantly. It great to have a mechanic that is passionate about their work, it shows.

Spencer and his son got my 69 bus up and running. He took great care to replace many cheap aftermarket parts on the repair job. I had him reinstall the engine I removed to replace the fan shroud, oil cooler and seals. I also had him go through the front end and brakes system. A lot of work, considering this bus sat for 10yrs before I purchased it. I found his work to be exceptional and reasonably priced. His knowledge is vast and his demeanor is very calm. Thank You Spencer! You have made a customer for life!

I recently purchased a 1981 Volkswagen Westfalia that failed smog miserably (CA). I brought the vehicle to Spencer at Reno Buggie Barn knowing straight up that it was going to be long and costly process to get her running. Spencer took the steps necessary to solve the high RPM missing issue and with it being in the shop for many days due to the need to receive difficult to find replacement parts, it passed with single digit emission numbers. I am more than thrilled with the work the Buggie Barn performed and look forward to using them in the future for all my repair needs. Thank you Spencer and all of your mechanics!

Spencer has done work on our '87 Westfalia Vanagon in the past. When ready to bring the van out of retirement and restore the entire drive train and suspension from engine to radiator (BIG job), we knew we would take it to Reno Buggie Barn. Before Spencer started the work he gave us an itemized list with pricing. When he found something else that needed repaired/replaced he sent pics, saved the part for us to see, and gave us rationale for the repair. We were always welcome to drop by to see the progress being made and we were not hit with any surprises at the end. Thank you, Spencer and Cameron! You are professional, honest, and truly passionate about what you two do.

When I picked up the Tiguan, Spencer had the parts he had replaced, and explained the repair to me.

Their prices are incredibly fair and they're not going to talk you into stuff you don't need. I went to another place in town that told me I needed $1500 in maintenance and then when I asked again two months later, someone at the same shop told me I needed $400 in routine maintenance. I came here for an oil change and told them that if they noticed anything they thought needed a tune up - I was game as I was about to make a big cross country trip. They came back and said everything looked great. I ran through the list from the first quote I had and they eased my mind. They let me know that they thought all of that was unnecessary and didn't make sense given the past maintenance and state of the vehicle. It was so nice to feel like I was dealing with honest humans. I would recommend this shop to anyone looking for routine or necessary maintenance!

They take pictures and video to show you what things actually look like vs what they should look like. Also big shout out to Nile whose unusual rep for repairs, he's super communicative with where they're at. The shop also has a couple loaner vehicles which came in clutch when I had to get my timing chain fixed. I was able to still get to and from work. The staff here is super nice and I feel like they care for my car as if it's their own. On my last repair they asked if they could hold onto my car for another day cause they weren't satisfied with where they got it and wanted to double back and tweak a couple things to hopefully give my car back in as best condition as possible.(this wasn't any extra cost). I also love doing my oil changes here, they check a bunch of other areas of your car while they do the oil change and give you a rundown of recommended fixes. Also if not they have never pressured me on any fixes which eases my mind. Pressure sales in the auto industry feel fake and dishonest to me. Also, they give your car a quick wipe down of the consoles and vacuum as long as your car isn't full of stuff. It feels nice to get your car back a little cleaner than you gave it to them.

I ran around Reno and was about to head 4 hours to the Bay Area, but my power steering pulley broke and my vehicle was undrivable. I was in a bind. Mechanic shops would soon close within 3-4 hours and everybody knows that they are swamped on the weekends. Autozone referred me to Robert at Half/Price Auto and guaranteed that the fellas at Half/Price do great work. I gave Robert a call explained my predicament and he informed me that he would not only take care of me, but that he would stay past midnight if necessary to get me back on the road. Half/Price Auto is located on a shared driveway with several other warehouse businesses. It is a family owned business. When I arrived I was welcomed by Owner Robert Haney, his wife, daughter, her little dog, and mechanic staff. Robert stopped work on several other vehicles to expedite my repairs. I was quoted a fee of $45-$50 per hour for labor. Other mechanics in the area that I called quoted me labor fees from $80-$95. Robert offered to personally drop me and the misses off to the Peppermill Casino which is very near to the shop. After a couple hours we returned. I was informed that there were several other issues with my vehicle. It took maybe two additional hours to repair, but Robert only charged me what was originally quoted. I hopped in the car and continued our weekend excursion. I was very pleased with my experience at Half/Price Auto Repair. Thanks guys!! P.S. Robert informed me that his shop is open 7 days a week!!
