I have been taking classes at the Reno Improv for about 8 months now, and WOW. What a life changing experience. Through the Reno Improv, I found friendship, fun, comedy, and courage. Back in August 2025 I lost my job, and was feeling pretty down on myself. My wonderful wife Savannah said I should look into the Reno Improv. I always have been a fan of improv. I have been a fan of shows like Whose Line is it anyway, Saturday Night Live, and Comedy Bang Bang, and always wondered what it would be like to try it myself. So I took the leap and signed up for Improv level 1 class with Amelia Giles. What an amazing teacher she is, and wonderful human being. Through this class I was able to have fun, learn how to improvise, and support my fellow improvisors! After that I took level 2 with Tim Mahoney, and level 3 with Jason! Both great teachers and great people. I am really enjoying being a part of this little theater. And it has given me an insane amount of confidence. Also I get to participate in shows all month long! I now am in Musical Improv and it just keeps getting better and better. Great spot. I love Reno Improv. read more

Got invited there by hubby's friend who was part of the improv cast. I had a blast, the cast was really hilarious and good at improv, including the cast member at the piano. Somehow the tunes that was being played on the keyboard went with the skits they were doing and I was laughing my butt off the entire show. The only downside was I felt a little claustrophobic because the place is on the small side. With an awesome crew like the one we just watched, they deserve a bigger stage and space! The show is definitely a must see! I would have taken pics but although they did not mention any policy on photographs, I erred on the side of respect and gave the cast privacy. read more

A small studio like theater at the corner of Willow and Wells. This cozy venue is the home to Reno Improv classes. There are classes during the week of varying levels that you can take if you are interested. Check their site - renoimprov.com for info on the different class levels and their nights. Usually on the weekends there is an improv show that usually runs $5. One Friday night a month a stand up show with usually 10 comedians, Go Katie W. This show is also $5. This venue seems to be a spot for newbies to get their feet wet or try out new acts. There isn't a lot of parking in the area. You are in real luck if a spot opens on Wells, it's better lit. The venue itself is maybe 30x30. A single step up stage is positioned in one corner and about 5-6 rows of plastic chairs are available. No assigned seating. The lighting is good, although if you are on stage it can be blinding. Check it out to see who might be up and coming soon from Reno- again Yeah Katie W., ama el acto de tu maestro and the "pene pastas" bit. Such a GREAT place for comedy, expression, laughter, and real down-to-Earth cheering for others. I took the kids here last night (my son is 14 and my daughter is 9... both are super fun, chill, and mature for their ages) and we had a wonderful time. Actually, it was better than wonderful. I called in advance to make sure kiddos of those ages could attend; the owner called me back and was (a) straightforward that the content could have strong language, but that's about it, and (b) my kids and I are welcome. To be honest, you don't often get that in Reno. Fast forward, we showed up 10 min before the 8pm start, settled into our seats, and had such a great time... so many belly laughs in the space of one hour. Please go and support these folks! We had a blast!! (And then the kids wanted to do their own 1 hour improv show once we got home... mission accomplished!) read more

Need a good laugh on a budget? Check out the weekly schedule @ Reno Improv. This weekend I caught a showcase of comedians. Mostly locals, a few braved it over the pass -- insert jokes here: that's what they did. It's a really causal- you get the tickets at the door. Yes they take credit cards Seating is a mixed bag of chairs - think conference room chairs. Small stage Cash bar with basics. Only downside: street parking. Some people complain about the neighborhood that does bother me but there just not a lot of spots available. Take an uber and have an extra cocktail with a side of good laughs. read more

Someone told me about this place so I thought I would check it out during art town. What a horrible experience. this place is a joke where adults don't live in reality. grow up and live in the real world. the living room people are a joke. I bet their families are proud of them for playing make believeAnd Armadillo was just ok. The game host whose line is it is ridiculous with the stuttering and big Elvis hair. Once upon a time I was born. Nothing much happened after that until I found this place. Friendly humans and whatever creature may appear on stage that night alike, I slowly became familiar with the strange land of improv. I learned a lot from this place and it's people, their strange customs of acceptance and creativity....But good customs that improved the people and performances while also learning to do the same for others. if you like comedy in a non traditional bar setting, this is a fabulous place to enjoy some laughs and bring friends to enjoy too. This is perfect location although the parking is somewhat scarce (arrive early so you don't miss the awesome MC). Considering i did my first stand up with only two days to practice the show turned out to be a fun night. They offer non and alcoholic drinks (they will card you for those 21+ crowd). Overall its a fun place to enjoy a night out. bring a date for an evening then head over to a late night dinner ...well you get the picture. read more

I needed a break really bad. Some place where the burdens of the day would be lightened with laughter; some comedy joint where I'd be away from downtown traffic-where I could kick back & laugh & get entertained without having to spend too much. I heard about Reno Improv. Finding it was kind of like getting rewarded after taking a sort cut through a vacant lot strewn with dried weeds, broken glass, dog poop, people poop, and those obnoxious stickery plants with arrow-like burrs that stick to your socks, but then you stumble upon some rocks-that are actually diamonds at your feet. Those diamonds are the 7 or 8 comedians taking the stage at Reno Improv, doing stand up in front of an enthusiastic, live audience of what seemed to be mostly people who've returned to see their favorite acts-edgy, super-funny, dynamic comedians, all guys-(except for one foul-mouth, dirty talking, gap-toothed, ugly old slut, (actually doing stand-up!) Way past her prime, who could never dilate your pupils, or uh, give you a rise in your Levi's- but she was freakin f u n n y !). Reno Improv's got a great location-adjacent to the Aikido Studio, parking is easy access off Wells Avenue, close to downtown & midtown. When I find a girl friend, this IS the place I'd take her for a date night. A Friday night in mid-August at Reno Improv was my first time there and I'll definitely return! I shouldn't single-out any one comedian-but if you ever have a chance to see a young man named Patrick Harding perform at Reno Improv, do not miss your chance to see the most relevant, cutting edge, political satirist, all-around funny comedian who'll get you laughing your ass off! Reno Improv needs much more than five Yelp stars! Highly recommended! read more
