While, as a previous reviewer mentioned, we can simply thumb the need for quick advisable bits of info online, there's something a little more refreshing when one comes face to face with staff willing to make a road trip such a pleasure as the one my brother and I took a few weeks ago. Generally, I'm the kind of guy who tends to sight see locations of interest whenever I hop in my car and go. While the usual suspect tourist traps pull us in, there's something to be said of taking the road less traveled, and on this particular day, it was definitely worth the side venture. The woman working behind the counter was as friendly as can be. She started up a conversation with both my brother and I, engaging him even further personally in small talk as I wandered about the center taking the kitschy only in Tahoe merch laid about in well organized fashion. Thanks to her bubbly personality, my brother was able to learn about an overlook area allowing these breathtaking views of Lake Tahoe from high the windy above. I never thought to go further along in our travels that day, but such an opportunity to see nature in such grandeur was too hard to pass up. All in all, it was a great experience - a few minutes alone was well spent invested in this short road trip that my brother and I will take as a memorable part of the journey. I highly encourage others who may trek the same road we did, to also stop in and make themselves feel at home. You'll be so glad you did.

Franny Ramirez, the gift shop manager, was chock full of suggestions on the best views, walks, and hikes around Lake Tahoe. She has lived in the area for over 25 years, she said, and it shows in her knowledge of the region. From Incline Village to Sand Harbor, to Zephyr's Cove, to entertainment and gaming at South Shore, Fran had tips on what to see and do and covered Lake Tahoe in a very pleasant and conversant way. She sure helped us plan our week long trip. Thanks Fran!

Lots of things to see, do, eat, and drink. See Atmosphere below. Other attractions are - St. Mary in the Mountains Catholic Church, Historic Fourth Ward School Museum (see other 5 star review), Virginia City Outlaws, The Washoe Club Haunted Museum, Mackay Mansion, The Way It Was Museum, Silver Terrace Cemetery, Virginia City Visitor Center (see other 4 star review), etc. Atmosphere - Always a fun and great city to visit. Historical town. Sadly, I will miss the camel and ostrich races, see pictures. Also, I miss the motorcycle rodeo. Known for their tours - Ghosts, underground, mine, railroad, historic, trolley, etc! Parades - Approximately 8 a year; see their website. During the off season, there are plenty of free street parking, or $10 private lot parking. During peak season, you will have to park further and walk. Service - Good, caters to tourists. Price - Reasonable prices, especially for a tourist destination. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1859. I am glad that you are still prospering.

The description said that the kids would learn about Nevada…read morehistory and do activities like gold panning, lasso practice, campfire cooking, and other Wild West themed activities, but my son said none of that happened and he didn't learn anything about Nevada history at all. One of my biggest concerns was the handling of medications. My child takes medication twice a day, and it was apparently his responsibility to remind the counselors when it was time to take it. On more than one occasion, he had to wake his counselor up to let them know it was time for his medication. Had I not set alarms on his phone, he likely would have missed doses. When parents entrust a camp with their child's medication schedule, it should not fall on the child to make sure the adults are doing their job. The biggest issue was on the last day. The kids were told they couldn't go eat breakfast until they were finished packing. My son was the last in his group to finish packing. By the time he was done, all the food was gone because the other kids had already eaten and gone back for seconds and thirds. He eventually got a bag of chips and a piece of fruit after telling the counselors that he hadn't received any breakfast. No child should be left without a proper meal, especially when meals are supposed to be provided. On top of that, some of the counselors seemed disinterested in interacting with the kids, disorganized, and overwhelmed. From what my son described, the camp felt like a free-for-all with very little structure or direction. Overall, the camp did not deliver what was advertised, and we will not be returning. In my opinion, before offering any more overnight camps, the organization needs to provide better counselor training, improve supervision and medication management, and create a clear plan to ensure the activities listed in the camp description actually take place.

So many different trails. A very easy paved 0.4 mile loop hike, gravel path hikes, and of course, rough dirt hikes. Potential flooding, especially after a huge winter. Stay on the trails, as many paths have natural erosion. Stay safe. There used to be a fish hatchery here, see website. Not sure if it closed...? Also lots of wildlife; again, stay safe - Coyotes, bobcats, mule deer, black beers (we get this at the house also, LOL), mountain lions, rodents (too many to name), bats, birds, reptiles, etc. Atmosphere - Visitor center may be small, but they are packed full of information. Also cool decor, see pictures. There are also campsites, BBQ, picnic areas, volleyball courts, horse shoe, clean bathrooms, and plenty of parking (cars, RVs, buses, etc). There is even a stage in Eagle Meadows for events. Open 7 days a week from 7am to 7pm (hours are also seasonal, see website). Clean bathrooms throughout the different parking lots and camp sites. Horse trails and minimum bike trails, see picture. Visitor center; it was actually open today. Thank you volunteers. Last time we were here was during the winter; what a difference with the seasons. Service - Self-service today. Price - Free today. Owner Comment - Thank you Washoe County for another great park!

But, Hwy 80 is probably less than 200 yards away and there's a train track above the camp. I remember lying in our tent thinking, "what is that noise? It's just constant." Sorry to say we decided to visit the town (beautiful) and enjoy a shop or two (loved Cornerstone Bakery; stop in and grab a few things, as their pastries are superb) and decided to break camp early and enjoy a quiet night sleep. I don't mind clanging pots to keep the bears away, but incessant freeway traffic noise was just miserable. We'll return, but visit another site (there's lots to see here).

Beautiful forest setting with large lake. We did not have any interaction with staff, and most of the time that is a good thing. One star down, though, because the token machine for the showers was out of order, and if there are camp hosts, we didn't see them. I always research the sites before I reserve, some are much nicer and secluded than others. Lots of people come for day use also, so if you are headed to the lake from your campsite, go early to choose your beach spot for the day.

We wanted to do a 7-day cruise on Virgin Voyage but also wanted to spend some time in Athens prior to the cruise. First off, we have 2 adult children living in 2 different states. I wanted to be able to meet somewhere and then fly together to Greece. It was great that she was able to coordinate the different flights, time zones, etc to get us all there. We all met in Toronto and was able to fly together to Greece. Once there, the hotel she chose was fantastic! Centrally located in the City, the Acropolis view from hotel room and restaurant were amazing. The cruise was amazing and the suites she got us and the kids were perfect! Although we had separate rooms, we shared a balcony and it was on the correct side of the ship so we were able to see ports as we arrived. The transports she coordinated from the airport to the hotel, and then to the embarkation, and then back to the airport was very satisfying as I did not have to worry about timelines and/or standing in line for transportation. She was even able to have flight times back to the USA from Athens so we were able to have a "last final" together at the airport before returning on separate flights. There is no way I could've done this on my own and we are all thankful for Amanda's expertise!

From the beginning Amanda has always been responsive to my inquiries, is very patient as I had 20 questions on the different tours and wanted to make sure it was the right one. She has great insights and gave fantastic recommendations. The final UK tour was fantastic, we had a great tour guide, very energetic and she made sure everyone knew where to go and knew where to be. She also made herself available 24/7. There were a lot of moving parts to this trip. And even though we were in a different time zone, Amanda made herself available for us when I had questions or if there was an unexpected schedule change. She never failed to respond to any of my questions. This gave us peace of mind knowing that Amanda was there with answers! The wife and I have always felt that Amanda was our "Personal Travel Agent" because that's how she makes you feel!
