For background, I left a review on this place a long time ago because they ended up over charging us and lied claiming they "talked to my wife", even though call records proved this wrong. Thankfully, they resolved this so I removed my review. This review, however, will not be removed. The root canal done on my wife ended up infected because it was not done properly. When an X-Ray was done at the new dental office we go to, it turns out not all of the root was removed which explains the infection. We chose Dr. Ricks after an exhausting search for someone who will do sedation for a very sensitive patient with some humongos anxiety issues. Dr Ricks did 4 root canals with Nitrous. My sweet mother in law was so pleased that this dentist was so very gentle, and understanding, and was able to fit her in on short notice after a very long flight to get to the Chicagoland area. I have anxiety about the dentist's office and came to Dr. Ricks after a very difficult, drawn out, and painful experience elsewhere. I cried the first ten minutes I was in the office , because i was so upset that I needed a root canal to fix the searing pain that I was in after leaving the last dentist's office. However, Dr. Ricks is patient and kind. She has the right equipment for the job. My first root canal took FOUR APPOINTMENTS elsewhere- this took one. ONE. One appointment!! My previous dentist had prescribed prescription painkillers THREE TIMES over the course of one root canal- they did nothing to stop the pain. It is a pretty amazing feat to get a five star review out of me, but let alone being a dentist...that is near impossible. I am deathly afraid and it shows because anytime I have any kind of pain in my mouth, it is an emergency and I need something serious like a root canal because I have waited too long to go. I was hesitant to get this work done, but I read the great reviews and got a shining endorsement from my regular dentist who assured me that Linda Ricks was the most gentle root canalist that I could ever hope to find. They were right. First of all, her receptionist is awesome. She could immediately sniff out my apprehension and fear on the phone. She invited me in the same day that I called when I told her I was in pain and was genuinely reassuring. When I got there, she was as pleasant in person as she was on the phone. Their office is super accommodating and makes you as happy as you can be to be there. The hygienist that I had was wonderful. She knew I was nervous and talked to me about anything to keep my mind off of what was happening. Then there was Dr. Ricks. She was soft spoken and easy going. She could tell I was nervous and took time to explain things to me and gave me a break when I needed it. I never felt rushed or hurried and everyone was just so nice. She got everything done in the amount of time she promised and I felt little to no pain. Now...the pain. I will say maybe the BEST thing about this office is that they offer Nitrous oxide. This was a large part of why I chose this office and it was totally worth every penny that I paid to have it. I was relaxed and I could concentrate on just breathing and letting the doctor do her thing. Otherwise I would have been a mess throughout the whole thing and it would have been much more traumatic than it needed to be. Every dentist should offer this service - I might go to the dentist more often. I can't say enough about this endo. I'm a high anxiety patient and she is very calming. I went through a root canal with her and an apicoectomy. She saved my tooth #3 which is a far back on the right on top. Oral surgeons just want to pull it out and charge you five grand for an implant. Her staff is awesome. Her receptionist is a sweetheart and so are all of her hygienists. It felt like I had a sister sitting with me through my apicoectomy and root canal. If I have any problems in the future with any other teeth, she's my go to lady. I chose her because of her YELP recommendations. Even though I am 45 minutes away and probably have a hundred endodontists closer, it's a no brainer with Dr. Ricks. I was a practicing dentist in the Naperville area before relocating, and from a clinical standpoint, as well as per her patients, Dr. Ricks is a fantastic endodontist. I referred all my root canals almost exclusively to her. Apart from being really experienced, every patient I sent to her had nothing but a phenomenal experience. She's gentle and caring and while it may not be something patients think about, her root canals were clinically beautiful and well-done. She's also very easy to schedule with and there were multiple times she fit in patients for emergencies at the last minute. As a dentist, I send all my family exclusively to her in the event they should ever need a root canal. I've worked with a lot of endodontists in the past and she's one of the best I've encountered. Dr Linda Ricks and her staff are the best! She was recommended to me because I was in so much pain after seeing 2 other dentists. She scheduled me immediately, accurately diagnosed my problems, and eliminated the pain by doing 2 root canals. I was shocked that I felt no pain during the root canals or afterwards. Dr. Ricks was able fit me I'm for an emergency root canal. I have terrible anxiety and was so nervous. Her whole team was very friendly. I'm not afraid of much, but when my dentist told me I needed a root canal or an extraction, I wanted the extraction. I've never had a root canal and always heard the pain is like childbirth. But after my dentist explained that a root canal would be a far better choice, I trusted her judgment and reached out to make an emergency appointment with Dr. Ricks. I was in horrible pain and called her office at 2:45 on Thursday, expecting to be seen in a week or so. Well let me say, her staff called back within minutes, took my info, estimated my out of pocket cost and told me to come to their office that day. Dr. Ricks is an absolutely lovely woman and her staff is just as amazing. I was petrified, but Dr. Ricks and staff assured me that I was in good hands and I would feel better soon. The pain was almost non existent! The procedure took almost 2 hours, but it didn't seem that long. Even while she was drilling my mouth, Dr. Ricks and her lovely assistant made me laugh which of course relaxed me. I cannot recommend this angel of a doctor enough. I went to see Dr. Ricks for a root canal procedure and she was very attentive to the fact that I'm more sensitive to pain than most people. She kept a steady flow of painkiller so I didn't feel a thing. It was actually kind of relaxing! She is the calmest person I've ever met which made me feel calm too. I was referred to Dr. Ricks from my dentist. I had to have two root canal procedures on the top and bottom left side of my gums. The receptionist was extremely nice and welcoming each time that I visit. Dr. Ricks is amazing. From the start, she tells you exactly what she is going to do even during the procedure. She answers every question you ask of her. She lets you know what should be done post procedures. I never been to a place that was very detailed and serious about their work. Dr. Ricks is extremely nice and care about her patients. She will have conversations with you, and it really got my mind off the procedure that quick. She gave me document instructions to read post procedure. Not only that Dr. Ricks was nice, made me feel very comfortable and knows her work. The staff assistance her were very nice as well. The staff there appear to love working there and that is a huge thing. Dr. Ricks done an extremely great job with the root canal procedure. I highly recommend Dr Ricks and her staff if you ever need a root canal. Dr Ricks was able to fit me into her schedule when I called early in the morning as I had an uncomfortable abscess underneath one of my lower molars. She quickly diagnosed that I needed a root canal and a drain in order to alleviate the swelling. From start to finish, the process was painless--even after I left her office and the anesthesia wore off. Dr Ricks proved to be professional, knowledgeable, empathetic and very experienced. She explained what she was doing and was careful not to cause me any pain throughout the procedure. Ive has two root canals an an apicoectomy with Dr. Ricks. One of the root canals was technically challenging, but Dr. Ricks took all the time and care required to provide an excellent outcome. The whole process at Dr. Ricks office was excellent! Everyone on staff was exceptionally helpful and caring. They continued to ask if I had any questions and to make sure that I was comfortable with everything that was going on. My son had sudden tooth pain and was referred to an endodontist. She immediately did a root canal (with household bleach, yes, bleach) and further exasperated the pain and infection. He wound up in the hospital for 3 days on IV antibiotics and eventually had to have oral surgery to have the tooth pulled. I believe the tooth should have been pulled right away instead of performing a very painful (and costly) root canal. read more

Dr. Ricks pulled a perfectly good tooth! After the tooth was pulled and healed my original problem continued. I then saw another Endodontist. He told me the tooth did not need a root canal. The problem was due a recessed gum. read more

I needed to have a root canal and to complicate that, I metabolize Novocaine very quickly, therefore I need to have something more than just Novocaine to control the pain. I was referred to Dr Linda Ricks by another endodontist office that was not able to offer nitrous oxide. The receptionist, Annmarie, was terrific and extremely kind and accommodating. The doctor's assistant, Krystal, was so kind and explained everything so well that I felt very comfortable. Dr Ricks did a spectacular and thorough job and controlled my pain. I have never said this about any other medical or dental doctor but I would actually say it was a very pleasant visit and I will absolutely recommend Dr Ricks and her employees. I love Dr. Ricks!!! and her wonderful assistants and office manager..all her staff: beautiful! I had such an incredibly great experience. From the initial phone call inquiring into the procedure and issues, I was impressed. I was reassured and told exactly what to expect and what best to do for my problem. It was a root canal that was a rather sophisticated procedure yet Dr. Ricks made me feel instantly safe, comfortable and in good hands. In fact, as I sat there waiting, I felt at home. I literally could have had a cup of coffee with the the office and chatted. It felt that relaxed and welcoming. Not like any other dental office I've been in. It is not stuffy or tense but warm and inviting. But, it also was equally professionally handled with finesse. The procedure was very precisely and carefully tendered to with ease (for me!). Very little Limited pain (mostly just the initial injection before we began..even that was so gentle I hardly noticed). It went smoothly. Within an hour! She literally saved my tooth!!! Thank You!!!! Very kind sweet person as well. What a gem of a doctor and place! Oh and the view...beautiful! All around incredibly wow! I wish I could go to her for all dental procedures.
