If you are looking for an exceptional painter, look no further. We have had several homes painted both inside and out and own several rental properties, so we have worked with many painting contractors over the years. Hands down, Gregory and Transformational Color are at the absolute top of any of our future painting needs. Gregory's integrity stood out immediately. Our initial walk-around consultation was in November, and instead of rushing the job in poor weather, he thoughtfully suggested waiting until spring for the best results. True to his word, he proactively followed up in April with a scheduled color meeting and a comprehensive proposal. To be honest, I originally read about his "color session" with some skepticism, thinking it was just a simple meeting to pick colors. It is so much more than that. You have to live with these decisions, so it needs to be a truly considered process. Don't pass up on the opportunity to have Gregory pick your brain about it. It will be worth it, believe me. During our color consultation, he offered fantastic expert advice. We went through several color changes prior to making our final decisions. We actually ended up adding to and modifying the plan twice--once suggested by him and once requested by me--which included changing the color of the downspouts versus the corner boards, and finally changing the rain gutter color and some major panels in the front of the home. These final touches really made the overall job pop! Gregory accommodated all of these changes with absolutely no price increase. He had one fantastic crew member who did an incredible job managing most of the prep work, pressure washing, daily clean-up, and touch-ups. First: for those starting this process of choosing a contractor, do your due diligence and check your painter's name, company's name, and license number. You may be surprised by the results--I know I was. Watercolors has a license in good standing, employee insurance, and is bonded. The license is held 100% by the owner, Jason Weihrauch, an upright person who stands behind his workers and delivers personal attention. Second: consider the written bid. A bid should be detailed about the specific materials that will be used. Jason's bid included the products, number of coats of paint, expected prep work, and even the port-a-potty. Third: the job itself. Watercolors did extensive and complete prep work. They even, for an extra agreed upon (more than fair) amount, fixed some window sills with termite damage. My neighbor was so impressed with the job that transformed my old deck, they hired Watercolors that day! And they were quite pleased with the result as well.
