My daughter rented a townhome from Rent Athens and I helped her move in. Be very careful when doing your walkthrough and note every little thing. To start with there was a huge hole in the steps leading to her second story apartment which made it unsafe to move in. Also 2 other areas of wood rot. When we went back to rent Athens they acted like it was no big deal but we were there with all of her belongings in a U-Haul and unable to move in until those repairs were made. Upon move in we literally had to clean the entire apartment ourselves. There was dust on the ceiling stains in the fridge and cobwebs in the air vent and the carpet was dirty and smelled. One of the windows didn't close all the way and you could see outside with the door closed because there was a huge gap. Also the blinds were replaced in the front window with blinds that didn't fit. So anyone could see in on either side. The deck outside was full of garbage and what appeared to be pet feces and/or dried up vomit. There was numerous requests to have this cleaned,RentAthens just deleted the request. There is no way that someone professionally cleaned this apartment before move in. The bifold doors in the laundry room did not close because they were not correctly installed. I repaired that. She moved out early and paid her remaining two months. The apartment was far cleaner when she moved out than then when she moved in. Rent Athens kept over half of her security deposit citing things like scuffs on the wall, dirty range hood, and said that there were anchor holes in the walls. We even commented on move in that there was already holes so we could hang curtains so I know that they were already there when she moved in. I can almost guarantee based on the condition of the rest of the apartment that the range hood was dirty when we moved in as well. ( we just checked to see if the fan came on) everything was pretty much dirty so we didn't note that. I had to clean all the cabinets as well in the kitchen because they were covered with old grease and grime. There was no filter in the air vent and it was full of cobwebs and dust. My advice is to get a professional inspector to come out if you expect to get any of your deposit back and make videos and save receipts of all the money you have to put in to make it livable. The carpet was vacuumed at best. It still smelled of dog. I can understand paying a standard fee to shampoo the carpets IF it was actually being done. This company is taking advantage of these college kids. All I can say is make sure you take extra paper and take lots of notes because they will try to charge you for things that were already there and cleaning things that obviously they don't clean.Try to avoid this company! Some photos from our move in: I spent a week cleaning and repairing some of the small things. And they charged her $50 for a scuff on the wall that I don't even see on our move out photos. I also cleaned the stain out of the fridge and the deck was clean when she moved out. (My daughter and her boyfriend did it with a scrub brush). So I don't know what charge that would be if a "scuff" is $50. The place was in far better condition than when they moved in. Beware of this company!! read more

Hey. This is my first experience living in an apartment complex in the USA and it is great! I've searched housing over the Internet being in my home country. I read a bunch of reviews about different apartments in Athens and many reviews were about bed bugs. Reviews about the Archer were average, but there was no mention of bugs. I chose Archer because it is not so far from downtown, there are regular buses, and there are also supermarkets nearby. When I finally arrived, the apartments were above my expectations! I contacted Rent Athens on November 18th, 2022 to set up a tour of two different units for the week of after Thanksgiving. After confirming the appointment several times, I was notified 55 minutes before the showing that one of the units was no longer available for rent. Because I had driven 2 hours to see the property, I went ahead with the showing of unit # 9 with my daughter and her roommate. Both of them liked the unit, and after a brief conversation with the rental agent, Madison, we returned to my daughter's dorm to start the application process. Madison then contacted me to say both girls were approved for the apartment and that we could "move forward immediately". We paid the $1,800 dollar deposit and I began the drive home believing everything was wrapped up. My daughter called me about a half hour later to inform me that Madison contacted her; Madison let her know that someone else put a deposit down about 10 minutes before we did while she was out of the office, and that we could now not rent that unit. Obviously frustrated I contacted Madison and was told that there was nothing that could be done, and that we could look at other properties if we wished. Additionally, they stated that they would transfer the deposit or return the money by check. Fast forward to Monday December 5th, when I called Rent Athens to request a refund of our deposit and was met by deeply unsatisfactory customer service from Madison. I was told in a snide tone that it would be "5 to 7 business days" before they would issue a refund check because they had to make sure my "check cleared". I let Madison know the payment was made by debit and that Rent Athens had been in the possession of my deposit since November 29th. Voicing clear irritation with me, I was placed on hold. When Madison returned, she told me that Rent Athens policy dictated they only issue checks on Fridays and they had no plans to cut a "special check" just for me. At this point I became frustrated and asked for an office manager; Madison refused to allow me to speak to anyone and abjectly refused to give me the name of anyone else in her office. This back and forth went on for several minutes and every attempt to get the name of a supervisor was met with apathy and hostility. Finally, after I informed Madison I would just look the information up, she raised her voice and gave me the relevant contact information of the account manager. After this interaction, I suspect that Rent Athens would have given us grief even if we did become clients; They clearly take absolutely no responsibility for their actions, nor the service their associates provide. This should have been a simple transaction and yet Madison needlessly turned it into an incredibly unpleasant and unprofessional experience. I can only imagine trying to deal with this company as a renter. Do yourself a huge favor and avoid giving Rent Athens your time and money at all costs! read more

As a tenant at Archer apartments for 2.6 years, I feel my review is more than accurate. Short story: If you absolutely cannot find anything cheaper and do not want roommates, it is ok. All of the five stars reviews are from broke college kids trying to win $250 (attached screenshot below of the bribery). Be prepared for homeless people dumpster diving daily (around 4pm to be exact), unreliable community washer and dryers, a pool which is rarely useable, and your car being broken into. Additionally, when your lease does end, remember it is a "term" lease so despite being asked to move out by noon on July 21st, you will still have to pay the whole rent for July and end up having two rents for July like me. Also do not expect your security deposit back and plan to owe Rent Athens additional money despite the condition of your apartment. Summary All of this to say, archer apartments are at best two stars. It is cheaply made and Rent Athens could not care less about the property or any of their tenants. There is no reward or thank you for paying your rent early or on top every single month for nearly three years; in fact, you will be punished for simply living in the apartment at your move out. If you can afford anything more, I would recommend going with anyone other than Rent Athens. read more

Utterly atrocious business practices occur frequently. this is the Property Rental Company From HELL do not rent from them. Not only are they unprofessional but they also frequently violate the terms of their own lease. They charged me $200 for reporting a leak to them that had been reported by previous tenants. Instead of fixing it when it was first reported, they painted over the watermarks to deceive future residents into thinking there was no issues. In addition to this, whoever is managing the accounts of the residents is incapable of keeping track of simple billing of repeated expenses and they regularly send checks and invoices to the wrong people due to their poor accounting practice.Overall unethical company that doesn't care about the safety and happiness of its residents and do not deserve to exist. read more

Loved the apartment and location (university tower on broad st), but received my move out packet and was scammed out of my security deposit with additional charges added on for silly things like leaving a few hangers in the closet, broken drawer in the fridge which was broken when we moved in, and various wall marks that could be wiped off with a magic eraser. When preparing to move out we were told we could pay for a cleaning service to make sure it was up to the correct cleaning standards. However, they obviously did the walk through before the cleaning and charged us for it not being clean... Take my advice and be present for the walk through so you can dispute any charges in person or simply fix things as they point them out to avoid their inflated charges. I understand they are just doing their job and need to make charges in order to make repairs. However, if the same type of inspection was done before we moved in, the repairs were not done and they just pocketed the money. The apartment was filthy when we moved in, and required a few maintenance requests to get up to our standards. If management sees this review, I would suggest sending a detailed list of potential charges to tenants for the move out inspection. Not only would this be a fair warning, but would also reduce the amount of maintenance and repairs you have to do. Had I know. I would be charged $280 for one wall to be repainted I would have just painted the damn wall myself before the inspection. Ha, maintenance was careless enough to leave the paint can and dirty rollers under the sink when we moved in 2 years ago. read more

Rent Athens cares nothing about your apartment until you move out of it, and they can then charge you for issues that existed when you moved in. They charged several hundred dollars more than my security deposit for mandatory carpet cleaning everyone has to pay for, a basically mandatory maid fee, and the bulk for new paint. Many of the spots there were complaints about existed when I moved in, so they either charged the previous tenant and did not repaint or did not care when I moved in. Then, there is also messed up paint from a leak I reported for over a year that a previous tenant complained about as well. For a little while one so the summers I lived here, my apt/ room was unlivable, yet Rent Athens seemed to not care or be able to do what needed to be done to fix it. Yet when I go to move out, missing paint due to previous tenants all of the sudden needs to be tended to and costs hundreds of dollars. There was a leak in the window when it rained for over a year. I would wake up wet. I would have to use fans to dry out the wall. At a certain point the wall started to deteriorate. They would take days to come out and then took over a year to find a solution that was sustainable. Their miscommunication when there are issues with apartments make it difficult to avoid additional charges if you are concerned. When my refrigerator was leaking, the maintenance man told me to wipe up the leak rather than stopping the leak. When they come to change the air filter monthly, they come into your apartment without notice. The insulation is poor so the heat runs almost constantly in the winter when it is over 65 degrees. If I could live with issues in the apartment, I usually tried to avoid calling maintenance due to the extended wait time and sometimes unhelpful solutions. There also seemed to be no way to reduce the flies. I tried fly traps and calling an exterminator. Couldn't recommend anything except the location, but it's not worth the hassle of dealing with Rent Athens. They also sent out an email on Christmas Eve saying "The majority of the units are having large amounts of water in the unit and causing damage to the property and items." When I freaked out and tried to get someone to come check my apartment (which costed $100), they then said that they had actually not gotten any reports of water damage/ leaks in my complex, so they couldn't take the five minutes to only send it to the complexes having issues. I would suggest not renting with Rent Athens if you want a livable apartment, do not want random extreme expenses, like having maintenance requests filled without additional payment, and can at all avoid it. Also, they make you pick a time to move out, so you might not actually be able to stay until your lease ends. The dishwasher also would flood in the bottom and never correctly drained due to the way it was built or at least the repair person said that was as good as it gets if it isn't next to the sink. Then, you can stay for the inspection but can't fight anything, so there really isn't actually a point in being there. read more

My experience with this "establishment": 1) My daughter spent a week on three separate occassions in an apartment with a temp of 90 degrees on the top floor because the A/C was broken. Kept breaking because they were too cheap to fix it right. 2) The apartment had windows that were painted shut. Not only was this an issue with the broken A/C but I am sure it is against every residential code in the book 3) The toilets constantly ran unless you paid attention resulting in a multihundred dollar water bill due to everyone being gone over the weekend. They never came to fix them. 4) You will absolutely not get your deposit back no matter what condition you leave the apartment in. Just factor that into your rental cost right up front. I would never, ever, ever let someone rent from these people. They will keep doing this until they start losing business. read more

Exactly the same as previous reviewers have stated. We rented a townhome for 3 years and left it in great shape. Upon vacating, we were charged our full security deposit plus $995 additionally for paint. PAINT. The walls weren't damaged- it had just been three years so the interior needed to be painted. When we moved in initially, we had to request that they replace the carpet in my 5 years old son's room because the previous tenant clearly had a cat that used that room as a litter box. Clearly Rent Athens didn't use that previous tenant's security deposit for actual repairs to the house, so that money they will charge goes directly to line their pockets. There were multiple electrical issues with the home as well that were never addressed. We have offered to give up our full security deposit of $1150 but not pay the additional $995 considering it was just for paint but the company has told us that they will send us to collections for that amount. We paid $1150 per month for three years and were never late with a payment and never caused any issues. These people are crooked and don't belong in Athens. Do yourself a favor and do not rent from this company. read more

Terrible. These people are criminals. Ignore any lease agreement that you sign with them, because they sure will. When moving in, we were given a document to record the state of the apartment, and marked damages to paint and mold everywhere. When we moved out, we were charged for everything that they had never come to fix/clean for us. The best part is that everything they marked to charge us for was literally written right next to our original reports on the same exact sheet of paper. To top it all off, they sent the check despite me intentionally NOT signing the move-out document, knowing I would be disputing it. Now I am being charged even more for having not deposited the invalid check. This company wants your money and nothing else. There are other places to live in Athens. Go there. I'm relieved that I wasn't just being picky about this rental company and that I'm not the only one who has a terrible experience with them. I HATE this company. I moved into a property to start my MPA program at UGA right after they had changed management. I'd heard some negative rumors about them, but I thought that since they had changed management, it would be better. The walls are paper thin at the Archer, the property I rented from. I could hear almost every sound my neighbors would make. The maintenance crews they sent out came regularly- almost once per week- with little to no notice by the rental company. Imagine a 22 year old girl being woken up in the early morning in her one bedroom apartment by someone banging on the front door. If I didn't answer, they wouldn't go away- they'd just keep banging on the door. If I still didn't answer, they would come into my apartment. This happened multiple times and it made me feel very u comfortable in my own home. The administration is lazy and will never work with you on anything. I understand some rental companies don't offer a way out of the lease, but they were so unwilling to help me that I had to pay rent for both their property and a new property. I would rather pay two rents than be their tenant. They were so incredibly uncooperative. I've heard the same negativity from other people outside of Yelp. If you're new to Athens, look elsewhere to rent!! read more

One of the most unresponsive and unprofessional rental management companies I've ever been with. Don't expect to get a call back if you leave a message. Don't expect them to fix any maintenance issues in a timely manner. Don't expect them to be responsible and helpful in any way. On multiple occasions we have called and tried to get help with old appliances that they provide which simply stopped working and water damage from a neighbor's flooded apartment both of which resulted in zero help. I like living at Archer but the management is so inconsiderate and lazy. We will get last minute notices when our water will be out. Sometimes we don't even receive notices! Many of times I would lose $6-8 at the washing machine center because management failed to let us know that the machines weren't working. I rented for 2 years with not a late payment for rent or utilities. If you want thousands of dollars over your security deposit for repainting undamaged walls and patronizing workers who will not listen to or respond to you this is the place to be. I also had my AC out for days when the temps were over 98 upstairs they refused to send anyone to make the house livable until I pestered them with the other tenants to fix it. I would rate your company with a negative number if I could. The gutters fell off the house and no one came to fix them and shingles were falling off too. Not to mention the house we started renting for $1585/Mo was going up to $1925 in 2 years. They said they would negotiate the price with the owner but did nothing. Love where I live but it's been a week and a half with a broken toilet and still nothing. Absolutely unacceptable. Any time I call the office they say "a technician has been contacted" but I really don't understand how they could be that behind on repairs. The Redlands Apartments via Rent Athens are terrible. Cheap furniture - stove never worked even after repeated calls. They charge everyone huge check out deductions. No one is getting there security deposit back. We were lucky - only $350. Some were in the thousands and have to get lawyers. We were charged $100 for damaged sofa. I assure you that sofa was not worth $100 brand new much less after many tenants going through it. Bottom line - Go somewhere else - anywhere else. read more

DO NOT rent from this company if you can at all help it. If you do have to rent from them, DO demand a thorough move-in inspection, make notes on the inspection yourself, write down everything (even if they tell you not to), and take pictures. They will try to scam you. (Sorry this is long, but it's all important.) Allow me to be one more voice in the crowd. Rent Athens WILL take advantage of you. These reviews are not exaggerated, and they're not special cases. Rent Athens offers their properties for cheap, but they make their money back in numerous ways. They do not take care of maintenance issues (I once put in a work order because the AC unit was malfunctioning and was told that if nothing was wrong with the AC, they would issue me a service charge--I told them to just not come since we were moving out in just a few weeks anyway). Additionally, we had a major ant problem in our apartment, and when I asked them to send someone out to spray, I was told that pest control was not included in our rent. So we had to take care of the issue ourselves, protecting a property that didn't even belong to us. With all of this, I just rolled my eyes and got over it, and on it's own, it would not have pushed me to leave this review. However, when we received a letter in the mail post move-out (expecting it to be our returned security deposit), I was in disbelief at what I saw. $550 to replace our tiny living room's carpet. $175 for TOUCH UP paint. They kept our security deposit and demanded $425 more to cover the remainder. When I called and asked to see invoices proving that they had this work done and that it actually cost that much, I was told that they were not allowed to provide those. They wanted to take $875. I got in touch with the previous tenant whose lease we had taken over. She informed me that the water heater above the apartment had busted, leaked, and flooded the apartment while she was there. She said it ruined the carpet, but all Rent Athens did was suck up the water. When my husband and I moved in, we saw how gross the carpet was but just assumed it was from years of wear and tear, so we covered it with our own giant rug and never thought twice about it. Rent Athens saw the opportunity to charge us at move-out for the replacement of carpet that their own property ruined. Additionally, the previous tenant informed me that Rent Athens is known for NEVER giving a security deposit back and for always making up ridiculous charges at move-out. A 20 minute reading of reviews on Google and Facebook, as well as complaints filed against them with the Better Business Bureau, confirmed this. This company is a sham, and I am frankly disgusted with the way that they treat people. We contested the charges, but they bully you into paying by threatening turn you over to a collections agency and negatively affect your credit if you don't pay them within 10 days. This ensures that you don't have much time to challenge them legally. We, unfortunately, fell victim to them, but you don't have to. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this company should not be allowed to conduct business. Stay away from them. read more

Wish I would have read these reviews before I rented from them. My daughter just rented an apartment and it was not cleaned from the previous tenants. It was filthy. Mold all over the bathroom, carpet is completely disgusting! Urine and blood stains. Bugs everywhere, the screen door is put together with duct tape. I described the smell to the manager, Colby Smith, as a dog/urine smell...... his description was "wintergreen". So, it appears that they keep everyone's deposit and then they refuse to clean or maintain their facilities. I will be discussing this fraudulent activity with an attorney. DO NOT RENT WITH THEM. In August, my roommates dog damaged 2 of my doors. We understand that this is 100% our fault and responsibility to pay for. The doors were custom, so we had no choice but to go through Rent Athens to have them replaced. We had someone come out in August who said "it'll take a few days for me to get the measurements and put in the order." Did not hear from them for weeks and weeks. When we got in touch again, it was like the whole process started over. Cue months of lies and ignoring calls and emails. At one point we were told "the hurricane in Florida delayed the shipment so it'll be a little longer." Only to find out a few weeks later that Lowe's had never shipped the order in the first place, so they ordered them "again". Not sure if they were even ordered the first time but either way, the hurricane story was obviously made up. I asked to see confirmation this time but they totally ignored that. It's currently December 6, and the last time they responded to me about it was November 8. A MONTH ago. They will ignore you as long as they can, and I don't currently have a bedroom or bathroom door and have no choice but to wait for them to fix them and charge us. From what I've read on other reviews, it sounds like we won't get the security deposit back at all either. They're definitely lazy and all about the money. please do yourself a favor and RUN far away from this company read more

I had a rat get inside my dryer and die while I rented a unit from them. Moved the dryer to my front porch and finally got in touch with the maintenance department a few days later. The guy told me to move the dryer back inside my apt and that the smell would go away after a few days. I told him there's no way I'm doing that he told me I'd be held responsible for the dryer if it was damaged or stolen. WOW!! read more

Worst rental company I've EVER dealt with. I would give rent Athens negative stars if I could. If you want to be cheated out of your money, lied to, and stolen from, then rent Athens is the place to do business. They will do nothing to help you with any problem you have with your unit. If you call them and ask them to replace something or have a problem fixed, they will say they are sending someone out, and no one will show. Repeat this about 3-4 times for any given situation. We had a lady bug infestation in our house, so we called them to se what they could do about it. Their response? "Sorry, it's just that time of the year. Try to spend time outside of your house" the house I'm PAYING for?? Just absolutely the most ridiculous company to ever exist. If I could give less than a 1 star review I would. Parents of college students beware, do not let this be the first experience your son/daughter has moving into an apartment. As a parent, shame on me for not looking at the reviews of this company prior to my child signing her name to a lease. This company preys on students. Maintenance issues go unanswered. Pest control, non existent, customer service is a term they knew nothing about. Before your child signs the lease, request a walk through of the apartment making notes of all the items that need repair or placement. If they won't repair or replace before move in, get their agreement in writing that they will. Keep a log of dates/times/copies of correspondence with their office. Make sure you witness the move-out inspection and contest each chargeable item they list. I very seldom ever write reviews but the experience with this company warranted one. Students, I know the feeling you have when the school year is about to begin and you can't find an apartment but Don't rent from this company,,,you will regret it. Thanks for listening. My son has been been leasing a 4 bedroom house with 3 other young men for approximately 9 months. In October a note from the water company was left on his door making him aware that there was a water leak. My son immediately (same day) made Rent Athens aware as his lease requires. His water bill had averaged $70 a month so the fact that it was over $200 a month from Oct-Dec ($600 over billed) so we felt like this would be something that Rent Athens might take serious enough to address immediately. Unfortunately this has not been the case. Out of good faith, my son has continued to pay $70 a month rather than the full amount thinking that Rent Athens would do the right thing and cover the difference. This has not happened either. My son is currently attempting to get the water company to adjust the bill, and Rent Athens states that once that is done they will contact the actual property owner to see if he would be interested in paying the difference. Based on other reviews, I don't expect this to happen. I made a trip to the Rent Athens office on 1/17/2019 on a recommendation from my attorney. There was no help given and I received the same runaround. They state that the reason that it's taken months to identify is because it takes a special kind of plumber and they couldn't get one out to the job. The actual property owner has been identified and I have acquired his contact information. I plan to reach out to him directly early this week, I'm sure he will be glad to hear how he's being represented by Rent Athens. Keep in mind the water leak has since been located, but still not repaired. It was determined that it was in the irrigation system so it was simply turned off. My family is local and we are well connected in the community. My recommendation to any decision making adult or parent with a son or daughter coming to school in Athens to steer clear of Rent Athens. read more

Good location for an apartment, but I have had several problems living in this unit -- the oven needed to be replaced, the faucet needed replacing, the bathtub wasn't draining, the water heater broke. The problems weren't as much of an issue as the time it took for maintenance to come and fix them. Very disappointing. The hot water heater was an emergency scenario, which took several days to address. read more

Absolutely horrible. I was impressed to see their improvements to the property where I lived, but don't be fooled, they're bankrolling those improvements on your dime. I kept my unit in great condition and yet they still scammed me out of my entire security deposit. They even tried to charge me more than my security deposit, but they "generously" brought it down to the full $100. Rent Athens is honestly the biggest joke of a rental company I have ever dealt with. The staff was often either impossible to get ahold of, or simply rude or dismissive on the phone. I realize that during move-in/out times it can be hectic, but I would assume a rental company who's only purpose is to manage rentals would be more helpful about the rentals. Maintenance was often slow, one instance when my sink remained clogged it took over a week for a technician to come to fix it. Like other reviews on here (AND on the Better Business Bureau's website - I recommend reading the laundry list of complaints currently against Rent Athens), I dealt with poor/broken AC and no refunds for the 2 weeks I was unable to live in the 95-degree apartment due to their inability to quickly replace the AC unit. They also try to scam you out of your security deposit with 'damages' that would take 30 minutes and a few ounces of paint to cover on the wall. Rent Athens also continuously drives up the rent at their properties, which is disproportionally affecting residents of Athens and ruining the cost of living here. DO NOT Rent from them. My roommate and I rented with Rent Athens for some time while we were studying at UGA. We had a nice location and the apartment was nice for the most part. However when it came to our recent move out inspection, they completely screwed us over. We left our apartment just fine and cleaned it nicely as they asked us to. A few days after our lease ended we received a letter in the mail. We figured it would be a check of our security deposit which was basically the amount of first months rent. NO! Complete opposite. It was the move out inspection with a list of completely false damages that were insanely overpriced. We were charged and paid a little over $2000(which included the money from our security deposit) put together for "Security Damage Fees"I was expecting some of our security deposit back at least. My roommate and I were very clean individuals and there were no holes in the walls it just looked like a clean empty apartment when we moved out. But $2000?! That's very excessive and absolutely ridiculous. I have rented and lived with multiple apartment companies throughout my college career like landmark properties (which gave us our entire security deposit back). It really angers me that they would add ridiculous charges like "small black marks on the wall - $350" which they repaint the apartment anyways?! I wish I had the time to sue these bastards but I guess they have the power in the signed lease to screw their tenants over. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY. Rent may sound cheap but they will end up screwing you over for literally NOTHING. Go with Landmark Properties or any other real estate companies in Athens, but for the love of god do not go with Rent Athens. The owner is a greedy evil man who takes advantage of young broke college students. I hope one day karma gets this company and they go bankrupt. Please, at ALL costs, DO NOT rent with this company. I would give 0 stars if I could. At the beginning of August, my roommate's dog damaged two of my doors (bedroom and bathroom door). We put in a maintenance request, and it took 2 weeks to get someone to come *look* at the apartment. He said "yeah it'll take me a few days to get the measurements and order it. Then someone will be in to install it." THREE MONTHS LATER, my emails for updates are ignored for weeks at a time (I have to send 3-4 over a period of a couple weeks before anyone responds), and when I do get a response, it's always vague. It is IMPOSSIBLE to get in contact with the people you need to be in contact with. Also, we've been given conflicting stories over these months. Someone told us that the doors were ordered from Florida and delayed during the hurricane. Well, 2 weeks passed after the time they said they would be installed by, so we emailed and called for another update. We were then told that Lowes never shipped the order, so they placed the order again. So clearly we got some conflicting stories. I've been living with no bathroom door and a half working bedroom door for 3 months. We know it's our responsibility to cover the costs, but we can't even get someone to help us replace them. If you need something fixed, expect it to be a hassle and expect your communication efforts to be ignored for long periods of time. They clearly don't value the renters, just their money, as many other reviews have also said. read more

If I could I would give this group of Scam artists lower than a 1 rating. My daughter rented from them and was duped out of her security deposit. Her group of roommates were charged for repainting their unit after being instructed by RENTATHENS as to what paint to use. A COMPLETE SCAM to get these college students to pay to repaint. When you call their office to speak to someone in charge, you are told that management does not have time to take your call. You are stuck talking to RUDE employees that cannot give any information or make any decisions. That is the way the scam works, never getting to speak to anyone in charge. I have not written another review but since this is the worst customer experience I have ever had, I felt I should share. Do not rent from this group! Wish I could give 0 stars. I live in Archer right now off of North Avenue and Rent Athens pretty much lies to you about what you're getting. There's no central air conditioning here, so the bedroom is 90 degrees all the time, the pool has been GREEN and broken for months, the laundry rooms AC is broken so it's 92 degrees in there when you're trying to do your laundry, you have to PAY to do your laundry, which is ridiculous considering rent is already overpriced. AND the apartment is essentially a very tiny hotel room that smells moldy no matter how many candles you burn. Not to mention they're all extremely unhelpful and rude and literally do not care whatsoever about this apartment complex and how awful it is. Cars have been broken into, people have knocked on my door asking for money, they barge into your apartment to fix things or for pest control with no email telling you somebody's coming or when a service is scheduled for. It's just so unprofessional. Don't rent from here guys. There's plenty of companies in athens that you would be much better off with. read more
