The DTLA skyline views are incredible--watching the sunset turn into city lights while the movie started made everything feel so romantic and magical. We snagged a loveseat, which was super comfy for cuddling up, and the wireless headphones gave us crystal-clear sound without any outside noise interrupting the classic lines and soundtrack. The vibe on the rooftop is relaxed but lively--great drinks and snacks to enjoy before the film starts. Pretty Woman felt even more special in this open-air setting; we were both smiling and quoting lines the whole time. My girlfriend absolutely loved it, and so did I. If you're looking for a fun, memorable way to watch a movie (especially a rom-com on a date), this is it. Highly recommend-- we'll definitely be back for more screenings!

Getting to the theater can be a little confusing, but they do send you instructions before your visit. BE AWARE their email says parking is right across the valet for about $10-$12. Since it was dark, I mistakenly parked at the lot next to the $10 one, and that one was $20 (ouch). Don't make that mistake. When you walk through the valet, there is someone there to tell you where to wait. The doors open about a half hour before your showing. We were a little confused because we weren't sure if someone was going to come down and get us. There was a resident that scanned us up the elevator, and there were plenty of spots to lounge outside of the cinema area. We sat in front of the concession stands, and the valet from downstairs had come up and ask us and the other two couples waiting to move to the seating area closest to the elevators. It wasn't a big deal but I thought it was weird that we had to do that. Our tickets were for the loveseat, which comes with one popcorn per person. We watched LaLa Land (in LaLa Land), which was nice because there's also a view of the buildings in downtown. Seat was comfy, but I wish there were either cup holders on the chairs or perhaps a small table in between seats for your food & drinks. I HIGHLY recommend bringing a blanket. There are other reviews that mention they have heaters, however, this was not the case during our visit. I'm thinking they probably have them for the winter, but there were no heaters present during our visit. It gets rather cold, but it feels okay if you bring a sweater and a small blanket. I loved the concept of the headphones for the movie. They were excellent quality and had great sound. You can adjust it based on your liking. Also, all the seats have a great view of the screen. It's a pricey date, but it's worth it if you're looking for something different.

Retro Mania & Nostalgia has hit America Big Time as the country embraces The Drive-In Movie Theater once again during this Pandemic. Drive-ins were really popular from the 40s-70s however most were all torn down to make room for apartments & buildings etc. There are less than 300 worldwide and now are having a huge resurgence & Come Back once again. Drive-Ins are reopening from Coast to Coast from California to Cape Cod. However less than 300 worldwide is not enough for Everyone to go to one. So they are introducing these Pop Up Drive-Ins like this one. The Movie Theaters May be closed but The Drive-Ins are open Baby. Older people who remember Drive-Ins from their youth want to go once again. A whole new generation of younger people who have never been to a Drive-In are embracing this as something unique, different and cool. Get Ready for some Fun as America safely Heads Back to the Movies once again . It used to be, you had to have mega bucks & be really rich to have the Good Life, not anymore. The Game has changed. You've been Upgraded. Now You Can Live Like a King on a Limited Budget!

State Historic Park in Chinatown for a screening of "Romy And Michele's High School Reunion" https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=J_opIRYcD5NywArq6Yy5wg&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw. Dubbed "LA's premier outdoor movie, food truck, and live music event series", this annual summer-long traveling entertainment circus (since 2012) made its way across various iconic venues throughout Los Angeles with its unmistakeable 3 1/2-story tall inflatable high-definition screen deemed the "biggest of its kind on the West Coast". A self-contained event, you were allowed to bring your own chairs, food, etc.. Pet-friendly with water bowls and treats throughout the venue, they tied themselves to the non-profit organization Best Friends Animal Society Los Angeles and No Kill Los Angeles (NKLA) to help with pet adoption. Would this nostalgic return and revamped idea of the drive-in movie pull at my sentimental strings to return for more!? PURCHASE General Admission Ticket/Seat ($14.00 + fees) - Purchased online (priced higher at the door the day of the event), this was open seating, so first come-first served. Armed with a low chair (ABSOLUTELY NO TALL CHAIRS), blanket, cushion, and pillow to sit on just in case, I claimed an unobstructed spot center screen at the very top of the seating area. Tickets also gained access to food trucks and live pre-movie music performance. Below were other ticketing options (things brought were the same): 1. Fashionably Late Tickets ($21.00 + fees - online purchase only) offered a limited quantity of guaranteed open seating tickets in a reserved area at the front of the house that allowed you to arrive at any time (hopefully before the movie started!). 2. Kids 12 & Under Tickets (approx. $8.00 + fees) offered the same as "General Admission". 3. Groups of 10 or more had group rates available. Live Music - A four-piece female-led L.A.-based band named "Lucy & La Mer" played melodic pop music that reminded me of The Asteroids Galaxy Tour and 10,000 Maniacs both I'm fans of. Their breezy chill music was perfect for a relaxing hot Saturday evening https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=agiSXIbbbsEISNq6gguTiA&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw. Food Trucks - Chanco's Tacos, Baby Badass Burgers, L.A. Donut, Pinch Of Flavor (see separate review), and more. All accepted credit cards https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=TIXwuenAbchDX1DAMGCw3A&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw. Vendors - Tillamook Ice Cream, Radio.com, and title sponsor Showtime (who gave away chairs!) were supporting partners who had giveaways https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=aLwm8nibpidofk48V5tf3Q&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw. SERVICE The online purchase was a breeze. There was excellent pedestrian and street directional signage to the main entrance. Marked signs once inside led you where to set up camp, restroom area, etc.. Both audio and visual systems were surprisingly clean and clear. There were the customary long food truck lines akin to L.A. traffic without the bad drivers. There were no onsite ATM machines. Generally-speaking, everything was fine and ran smoothly. PARKING (Varied; FREE this instance) Plenty of parking on the woodchips along the sidewalk. Otherwise, there was an abundance of timed parking along the main drag of Spring St. and all surrounding streets (FREE after 6pm) and $10 onsite parking. The Chinatown Gold Line Station and a bustop were about a 7-minute walk. Another option was to hire a driving service like a taxi, Lyft, or Uber. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A large open-air grass field https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=P9gObCbeS5F9zUF89oj3Fw&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw, it was everyone for themselves as the gates opened and throngs of guests flooded in! Designated smoking areas were in the parking lot. Upon entering, you passed the sponsors area and porta-potties, then the lawn, and finally the food trucks all the way across. The music stage was at the foot of the screen, but wished they had a camera that projected the performance onto the screen. Exposed to the elements, you heard random sounds from conversations, dogs barking, and vehicle traffic, etc.. The aforementioned gigantic movie screen was your TV while DJ Howly and the live band provided the music. ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL Eat See Hear at Chinatown's L.A. State Historic Park was my second favorite location because it was close to home, easy Metro train access, beautiful surroundings, and a ton of free parking. This concept was popular enough for others to imitate. The onsite staff were very charming and helpful. I found complete value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $16.00; no tip required). And, they accepted my credit card of choice...AMEX! 5.0 STARS

It's in a non-descript parking lot behind the Egyptian Theater. Pre-movie experience: I tried to order the tickets from their website but the ticket ordering site was down (I tried multiple times). Luckily, I was able to order from Fandango. They texted the tickets to me. Fandango works well and the processing fee was only $1.78. Also, the Fandango tickets can be exchanged. If you order from Cinelounge, the tickets are non-refundable and non-transferrable. The price depends on the number of people in the vehicle. For 2 tickets to Godzilla vs. Kong, we paid $50 plus the Fandango fee of $1.78. I was surprised they started the movie pretty much on time w/o any previews or even an introduction. Location: It's a small parking lot in the heart of Hollywood. There was a sign on Las Palmas and someone greeted us at the entrance. The check-in was fast. We presented our tickets and were told to tune into 87.9 FM. Concessions can be ordered online and delivered to your car. There's a bathroom too. There was room for about 20 cars. I think there were two employees on site - one to check people in and the other to deliver snacks and drinks to cars. Concessions: They have their own line of gourmet popcorn ($8/bag) that's non-GMO, vegan and nut free, candy, cookies, and drinks (soda, LaCroix, CBD drinks). I placed an order for popcorn and it took a long time to get it even though they weren't busy. Mr. Froyo had to go ask about the popcorn. The bags are small (2 cups per bag). Curry popcorn was sweet (I thought it would be savory) but with interesting spices (e.g., cloves, coriander, cumin, turmeric, mint, fennel, anise, mustard, fenugreek, garlic, curry leaves, cayenne). Jalapeno popcorn was quite spicy. The popcorn was crisp and fresh tasting even though it was pre-packaged. Outside food and drink are not allowed, but they didn't check the car or ask if we brought food or drink. Sound/picture quality: These were okay. Our stereo worked fine. You couldn't hear anything w/o using your car stereo. Mr. Froyo thinks they should have had subtitles/closed captioning. In/Out: Getting in and out was easy and didn't take too much time. COVID-19 protocol: Cars were spaced and people are asked to stay in their cars unless they need to use the bathroom.)
