Your kid will learn to focus and become stronger and confident if they put in the effort. They won't advance the student until they see that the student has put in the work and time to learn. I've seen our son advance through the belts faster than older students and some young girls have caught up to him despite starting after he started. So it really is what the student puts into it that they really get out a valuable life lesson and skill.
