Loss of two stars…read more So I went into the facility (as they demanded) back in April to cancel the account. Sure enough, the very polite person on duty turned to the computer, punched a few keys (no pun intended) and then told me I was good to go. What? Why couldn't I do this over the phone? It makes no sense. All I can imagine was the upsell. They tried to upsell me into buying individual sessions. No thanks. Again, great people but poor business practices. Took one star off of my 3 star rating. Here I am now (June) doing a few bills online. What's this I see? 9Round charged me for June? Huh? I see charges every month which stopped in May but then picked back up in June. Odd. Minus another star. I won't be going into the facility to cancel again.

This place is great. It's the perfect workout for me as a working mom. I work at a nearby school…read moreand get out at an odd time. 9 Round packs a lot in to a small space. The space is always clean and well organized. Russel has been the only trainer I've worked with so far and he's great. He is super friendly, but also brings a level of joking that makes you feel like you've been coming there for months rather than days. While he is nice, he's also there to make you work. He pushes and motivates you to work harder. Maybe more importantly, his playlists are always on point. He has been very helpful whenever I ask what a move is or how to do it, I have never felt nervous about asking for help like I have in other places. I've been stuck in a funk where I've missed all the mid-day classes at most gyms and would have to go home, disrupt our evening routine to drive somewhere else, then get back to a delayed bedtime for my kid. 9 Round is the best because there are no class times. I pop in right when they open in the afternoon and get home right when the rest of my family does. I've been bringing all my co-workers here. If you're on the fence, you should definitely just go in for your free first workout.

What a great workout and skills development. Regarding the previous review, I too had to cancel,…read moredue to extenuating circumstances, and they sent me a simple link to fill out for cancellation, which they are happy to do if you communicate up front you have a move coming up, etc.

I hate having to write this review and have put it off for a couple years, because my experience…read morewas a mix of being really happy with the training and the friendly community but extremely disappointed with them for refusing to stop billing me after I left. It was a month to month membership and they billed me for 4 months I wasn't a member, even though I kept emailing them asking them to stop. At first they said they'd handle it, then they stopped answering my emails altogether. Who knows how much more money they would have taken if I hadn't called my bank. Oh, also I was sick with cancer when they did all this to me. That's why I had to stop training. So that's what I came here to say: 1) DO NOT give them your checking account, give them your Credit Card. This will protect you if they do the same to you. 2) If they keep billing you for multiple months after you cancel, like they did to me, you will have to call your bank to stop the charges and get your bank to fight with them to get your money back. Mine was Bank of America, thank goodness they make it so easy to dispute fraudulent charges. And thank goodness for my friends who own a the Krav Maga studio in another city, for giving me the advice on how to handle a gym that won't stop billing me. I honestly wonder how many people don't know to do that, and how many people's money they "accidentally" keep taking even after the membership was cancelled.

The owner and lead instructor is Erik Dallberg, an expert all three of the major MMA spots (Wrestling, Muy Thai Kickboxing, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.) Even though Erik's background is in BJJ, he was successful in his first year as a community college wrestler. Erik is a great instructor who walks you through steps as you need them and gives plenty of individualized attention as long as he's not already helping someone else. And let me tell you, Eric Dahlberg is as good as it gets in terms of coaching. I gave a couple of other martial art places a trial before settling with Ring Demon. Eric doesn't just teach you boxing, kickboxing, wrestling, or jiu-jitsu, he teaches you a way to think about martial arts in general---relying on technique, energy, and leverage instead of strength to defeat your opponents. He is also ALWAYS willing to help out and ask any questions---no private lessons required. I was intimidated at first because the only martial arts experience I had prior to going enrolling in Ring Demon was a few weeks of trial classes and a year of karate way back in high school. But the school's approach to helping new students learn and integrate made me get past my comfort zone and eventually be comfortable enough to learn and spar. Summary: Great coach, great training partners, great environment to learn.
