After nearly a year after install we have an issue with the system because an AC connection was loose and fried the AC shut off switch. 5 days after reporting a problem a tech checked it out. 4 or 5 days after that he came back to replace the part but had the wrong part. Several days later he showed up with and installed the correct part. Before leaving I explained that my app showed power from my panels going ONLY out to the grid - not recharging the batteries of powering our home. the tech said it could take a couple of hours to reset...that was more than 48 hours ago. My CSR seems to be ghosting me. We are now at 2 weeks where our system is not producing/operating properly. As someone said earlier the "service side leaves much to be desired.". Renu's service department is slow to respond and doesn't follow up when promised. Update: Tech Bobby Brown arrived yesterday and seems to have fixed the issue. He worked on some high voltage stuff whilst I held an umbrella for him in a steady rain. I very much appreciated Bobby's efforts. That said, this warranty repair took too long to complete. Customer service (while very polite and pleasant) did not communicate well and the initial tech came with the wrong part then poo-pooed my concern about energy flow. My system was out of commission for 19 or 20 days which remains unacceptable. I am raising my rating to 3 stars from 2 with the hope that this was a one-off issue and that I'll be able to raise my rating more in the future. read more

I've seen questions here about Renu Energy Solutions from the past that were very positive, along with great ratings on BBB. I want to share my story so anyone interested in solar knows the other side. My first year solar production was 57% less than contracted rates. I received 43% of what I paid nearly $40,000 for. I have a contract that states my solar would produce 9602kWh (after change order) for a system that was installed and turned on in October 2024. In July, we knew we were never going to meet that number and something was wrong with the system. We attempted to call several times before I finally emailed multiple leaders at Renu Energy Solutions asking for help on 7/23. What I got was a response from Ariel proving my system was under production and constant disregard of my requests to have someone fix it. We are now 3 months into asking for help and not a single person from Renu has agreed to fix the solar, step foot on my property to look at the solar, or even speak with me on the phone. I believe they have no intent on delivering the production values they quote and use their "we'll pay your Duke bills" guarantee to profit on over charging for an outcome they don't intend to deliver on.This was my experience, which may be a one-off or a change in how the company is run. Buyer Beware. We purchased a new roof and 48 solar panels from Renu. Our skylight had the tiniest leak in it and needed to be replaced. They included it in the price of our roof. Well the first rain we had it was a RIVER flowing down my ceiling into the kitchen. They came out twice to "fix" it. They said there was a panel on wrong. Well it was never fixed the water was just diverted to our sun room. I called to discuss. I mostly talked to Andy and Chris and they basically said I don't see that we ever even put a skylight in your house and ignored me after that. Now I had someone come out to replace the skylight and he said they installed it UPSIDED DOWN. It will now cost us almost $3000f or something they did wrong and refuse to acknowledge. read more

Renu appears to be solely focused on selling new systems, their service side leaves much to be desired. We encountered problems with our system which seems to be due to a poor installation. Their service department are slow to respond and don't follow up like they say they will. We are about a month down the line, someone has been out to look at the system but there appears to be no actual progress with resolving the issue and I've been unable to get a status update... very frustrating. However, if you're hoping to get an estimate to learn enough about whether it pencils out and solar is right for you, these guys will continue to try to hound you and never let up. My wife and I contracted with Renu Energy Solutions for a very large, extremely complex solar and energy storage build. It was not for the faint of heart! We specifically chose Renu because of their ability to handle just about anything. We needed a company we could trust who had the expertise and intestinal fortitude to get the job done regardless of any hurdles. During the build process there were multiple unanticipated challenges which would have proven insurmountable for other solar companies. While our journey was not without hiccup or indigestion, Renu did not let us down. They proved themselves trustworthy even when it was not always convenient or profitable for them to do so! Trust is a huge factor when choosing who to work with, and Renu has proven to be worthy of that trust. We value this most about them. We are also thrilled with our system, as it has exceeded our expectations magnificently! Our solar build was not designed as an off-grid system, but for fun we opted to put it to the test. We decided to spend 8 days completely off-grid... in June, through summer heat, rain, and storm. 8 people off-grid for 8 days. Much to our delight, the resulting impact on our lifestyle was surprisingly minimal! For the most part, it was life as usual, including continuously running multiple refrigerators and freezers, cooking, baking, microwaving, air frying and doing laundry, in addition to selectively running both a 3 ton and a 5 ton AC unit. I didn't even have to forego my daily espressos! The quality and capabilities of our system are truly astounding. While all this is honestly amazing and we are indeed loving our new system, the most valuable takeaway here is that Renu Energy Solutions is a capable company who stands by their work and values their word! read more

I had a very satisfying initial sales meeting with a Renu sales guy, Will. He was prepared with a pamphlet customized to my home with estimated savings, costs, and ROI. I've waited an extremely long time to write this review (2 years now) but I'm sick of waiting for this company to honor what they said they would. So lets start at the beginning. We ran across one of those Renu sales guys at the BJs in Concord, talked to him for a bit and decided to have someone come out and go over everything. Anwar, the guy that came out, was very nice and everything and worked his little calculation magic to show us what we would be able to get for essentially the equivalent of what we spent the last year in paying Duke. In the end, we ended up getting 15 of the largest capacity panels they carried. We were PROMISED, by Anwar, that the system we decided to go with would get us to what is called net zero (meaning you produce as much power as you consume over the course of the year and it is a wash) for what would work out to be the same amount Duke billed the previous year. So we were told that we would pay the equivalent amount to the loan for our solar panels that we paid to duke and that we wouldn't end up paying out for electricity to Duke anymore, essentially paying ourselves. Awesome, we loved that and decided to go for it. Anwar gave us all of his contact info and said to let us know if we needed anything. At this point the whole permitting, measuring and installation process started. I told several people about what we did and gave out Anwar's info. No one was able to get ahold of Anwar. I tried to get ahold of him several times and couldn't. With-in the first week of the process, a guy came out to pull dimensions. I was talking to him about how no one could get in contact Anwar. He told me that Anwar was no longer at the company. When I asked why, he reluctantly said that Anwar was apparently having issues where he would lie to potential buyers, and that it has happened several times (more on that later). I hoped it didn't happen to us. So the solar panels finally ended up being installed and connected to the grid. Every month we received a bill to where we would have to pay Duke. I was expecting some months to have to pay out and some months to be credited back since usage is averaged out over the course of the year. Every single month we paid, and we were paying a good bit, not just miniscule amounts that were to be expected. So I became frustrated. I called up Renu several times, bounced around between a few different people, if the receptionist even found me someone to talk to. I finally ended up talking to a guy, maybe Chris or Jason? I can't remember his name at this point. While talking to him, he reviewed the production data and managed to see that it was producing the exact same amount of energy as the system was supposed to. Ok, fine. Why weren't we at net zero as was promised? Well, come to find out we actually would need 8 MORE panels for that. I would need enough roof space for 23 345kwh solar panels for a house that is under 1500sqft. That is ridiculous. So why were we told what we were told? He doesn't know. So then I brought up Anwar being fired because he lied to multiple people. To this statement, I was told that Anwar wasn't fired, he moved back to New York to be with family, and I was told that the guy who told me that was himself fired, because he was some sort of trouble maker. But if Anwar was going to be moving back to New York like I was told by the last guy, why would he give out all of his information and not just say he was about to move? This "moving" or firing, happened with-in a week of us deciding we were getting the panels. One would think that he would know that he was leaving the area in less than a week and let someone else take over for him. At this point, I'm fed up with the situation and company. The guy I was dealing with said he would escalate this up the company to someone higher and that they would pay my next power bill to show how "committed they were to fixing the situation". Lucky for them, it was the month that we produced the most amount of power so their "commitment" was a grand total of like $30. That whole commitment situation, was a year ago at this point. An entire year with no resolution. I called to find out the status several times, no one knows anything. The last time I was contacted was them wanting to have me buy a battery backup. I told the above story to the person on the phone who told me I would get a call back from a manager the next day. I never did. That was over a month ago. This company is full of liars and scammers. In the end, my "free" electricity is costing me substantially more than it ever would have cost just sticking with paying a power company. Buyer beware. read more
