This is a great, no-nonsense, spankin' new place for people who live in SoCal that want to regularly train olympic weightlifting and powerlifting without having to do Crossfit. Don't live in Orange County? That's fine -- if you ever find yourself on a vacation to Disneyland or on a business trip OC, this is also a perfect place to pop by for a drop-in without having to pay for exorbitant drop-in fees or go through a class sign-up thingamajig. Drop-ins are only $10. There is ample space, plenty of platforms, plenty of bars. Really, this spot is a weightlifter's dream. I also happen to know the owner of the gym, Jeff -- he is a great coach with an eye for technique, and the other coaches at this gym are also great. You can come here to casually lift, but there is also coaching available, if you want to take your Iron Game to another level. Joining Rep Max just under 2 years ago was probably the best thing I could have done for myself not only as a weightlifter, but as a person as well. I owe a lot of my success in this sport and growth as a person to the coaching staff and community of this gym and I have quite a bit to say about that. I've been in a part of many training facilities throughout my time doing strength training and now Olympic Weightlifting and what I look for most is the environment of the training facility and I believe Rep Max has an amazing community that feels like a family, should you decide to be more active in it and even if that's not your thing, everyone - from the athletes in the weightlifting team, to the powerlifters or to the general strength enthusiasts - is supportive and encouraging to each other. When the gym is full and everyone is having a good time working hard to achieve their goals, there's no better feeling. The coaches, to me, are the highlight of Rep Max. Before officially joining last year, I've known Adam, Jeff and Jerry for some time and they've always wanted me to be a part of the team and they're enthusiasm and support have persisted to this day. They're incredibly detail oriented, very clear on instructions and very patient when it comes to dealing with athletes at a variety of experience levels. I've seen them work with beginners and have made learning weightlifting engaging with coaching that is simple enough for beginners to understand but effective enough to produce immediate results. Then, when it comes to higher level athletes they apply more analysis and attention to the program to ensure long and sustainable progress. The newer coaches - Demetrius and Alexa - are doing an amazing job of stepping up and bringing in new energy to the training facility. Adam, Ashley and Alexa also provide really effective Nutrition programming that can be tailored to your needs and goals! I do want to point out a few things about Rep Max that should be known before signing up. Rep Max has gotten a lot of new members this past year alone and while the 8 platforms they have to do olympic weightlifting on are typically enough to accommodate a good amount of people, lately there's been times where even on weekdays the wait for an open platform gets pretty noticeable. There's also a separate area with standard iron plates, power bars, benches, deadlift platforms and squat cages for anyone doing either powerlifting or more general training. These Iron plates aren't calibrated Kilo plates like you'd see in sanctioned powerlifting meets however and the benches are unadjustable and the squat cages, while more than enough for general use, don't have the adjustability as the squat racks you'd find in dedicated powerlifting gyms/meets. One last thing I want to highlight, the owners are CSUF alumni and have integrated a way for CSUF students looking to get into Olympic weightlifting at a heavily discounted cost to make it easy and accessible for college students. You get full access to the gym and comprehensive programming. I know it's a long review, but I wanted to make sure I covered everything I can without dragging out the review into an essay. 5 stars all around. I was in the Anaheim area for two weeks for work last June and I needed an Olympic weightlifting gym to drop in to a few times for those weeks. I came across Rep Max Performance from their great yelp reviews and I'm glad I did. For a very reasonable rate, I was able to drop in to the gym about 8 times when I was down there. I can't stress how impressive their gym space is! They have plenty of platforms with squat racks and jerk blocks, an area for power lifting, rigs, and a stretching area. They even had coffee! I am used to sharing a platform, but there was so much space here that no matter what time I was training, it never felt crowded. And their gym times are amazing. I was always able to get in a session, some days at 6am! Also, the area is clean and the equipment is top notch. Having great hours, great space, and great equipment is one thing, but what makes a gym is the community. Jeff and Adam go above and beyond for their members. They are both extremely knowledgeable of oly lifting, and I felt comfortable and welcomed by them and each member I met. Their coaching staff that I was able to work out alongside, including Jeff, Adam, Alana, and Jerry are experienced, relatable, and they were always there to help when I had a question. I am so happy that I was able to spend two weeks here and to continue my friendships with these wonderful people through social media and seeing each other at comps. I had been out of the gym for about 10 years when I decided I needed to get back into shape about a year ago. I did some research on gyms in my area and decided to try Rep Max Performance, and it was the best decision I have made in some time. I have been coming here consistently for a year and I could not be happier with my experience here. The owner and the coach's are incredibly nice and knowledgeable. There are countless times where they have helped correct my form. They input a new workout program for me every week. I've been wanting to do olympic weightlifting for years. I've tried it at crossfit classes and sucked at it. After gyms started reopening, I found this hidden gem after searching on yelp. Luckily, I was just in time for the weightlifting fundamentals class which I highly recommend. Coach Jared was awesome. He's patient and showed great expertise. Not only did he get me comfortable with the lifts, he was able to diagnose various aches and pains that I had from other activities like basketball and was able to suggest remedies. I love the Rep Max family. I have been training both in person and remotely with the coaches for the last couple of years. In just the couple months since I've starting going to Rep Max Performance I've already seen dramatic improvements to my weightlifting total! My snatch has gone from 110kg to 115kg, and my clean and jerk has gone from 138kg to 147kg (from the hang)! I smell 120 and 150 just around the corner. They break down each movement and encourage form over kilos. You don't have to worry about making a specific scheduled class, the platforms are open as early as 5am. This review is long overdue. Rep Max has become a second home to so many of us. You can definitely tell that Adam and Jeff care about all of their members and want us all to succeed. They're very professional, knowledgeable, and know how to motivate their members. There's tons of equipment, and the gym is very well maintained. They also have 2 great ATC's on staff, Erica and Damian, who are the best at making sure that athletes stay healthy throughout the training cycle. But what really makes this gym so great is the camaraderie that we've all developed with each other. If you lift here, you'll gain about a dozen training partners instantly. When I joined Rep Max Performance I had no idea what an impact it would have on my life. I'll be honest, I was hesitant about joining Rep Max but 4 months later, it is seriously the best decision I ever could have made. I struggled at 24 Hour Fitness. It was intimidating and I knew I wasn't making the most of my time there. Since joining Rep Max I've lost a ton of weight and gained even more confidence. Jeff was training me before they had opened the gym and I was improving weekly. I was breaking all my PRs and once their gym opened I started improving even more. This gym is great for weightlifters, powerlifters and even people who want more of a class setting. They accommodate everyone of different backgrounds in fitness. There is always a coach in the gym that will answer any questions you have and is willing to watch your form. I have a herniated disk and working with both Adam and Jeff I've been able to do deadlifts and back squats without an major problems. I've been training here for the past few months. As you'll see from other reviews, they mainly cater to people interested in powerlifting and Olympic weightlifting - strength pursuits, really - at all skill levels from newbies up to advanced athletes, as well as general fitness. I'm a fairly advanced weightlifter (not quite national-level) and this place has been outstanding for me; my girlfriend is intermediate-level (couple years in) and it's also been great for her; and I've seen quite a few beginner/novice-level folks thrive here as well. Plus there are guys here stronger than me so I have people to chase, which is important.
