After being loyal Republic customers for over ten years, one week they just didn't pick up the trash on our street. After a week of patiently waiting for our trash to be picked up, we called. They told us they had given our accounts to Ace Disposal. They never contacted any of us. We finally got it straightened out. They picked up our containers after Ace emptied them and we thought it was taken care of. Then I got a bill from Republic. I was confused by it, so I called. I spoke with a customer service representative who told me it was their mistake and I shouldn't pay it. Fortunately I wrote down who I talked to and what they said. I got another bill two months later. I called again, spoke with another representative who confirmed that the account should have been closed and not to pay the invoice. (Fortunately I documented these conversations.) Then I received another bill, this time with a letter threatening to send a collection agency after me unless it was paid immediately. It took another call to another agent who said she couldn't do anything about it except send it on to be investigated! After I requested to speak with a senior representative and waited on hold for another ten minutes, I THINK it's resolved. I guess I'll have to wait until the next billing cycle to find out for sure. I called on Wednesday for a miss pick up, scheduled for Friday. The containers were out on Thursday night. Call on Friday to make sure if they will pick up. The representative said yes. That was at 9:00am. Called again at 4:30pm, the representative said the driver sent a message and said he was at my home at 5:31am and no containers outside. What a liar! I have cameras and I do not see any trucks came by. Now I have to wait until Monday. What kind of services do this company provide? Any suggestions for waste pick up in Elk Grove? My account was with a different company they acquired. Republic showed up to my home while I was at work and got someone to sign for a 3yr contract without my consent. Within a month of the "signed" contract I never saw or got a copy of, I tried canceling. First no one called me back then I get dropped from a transfer call. I want to cancel and they want to charge me $500 in early cancelation damages. Absolutely will not cooperate, Higherups wont call you and corporate says you have to deal with your sales reps. They don't even deserve one star rating. read more

Absolutely horrible company to deal with. Disorganized staff which usually stems down from management. STAY AWAY from them. I called to start service with them on Jan 29th. Was told that my bins would be delivered on the next service day. Which for my area was supposedly Tuesday for trash Friday for recycling. Tuesday February 5th comes and no trash bin. I called republic and the CSR says that my service is on Wednesdays for trash Fridays for recycling with recycling taking place on alternating weeks. Friday the 8th comes and I get my recycling bin but not the trash bin. I call republic and they tell me "your trash bin is coming on the next service day which is Tuesday". To which I say "you mean Wednesday right". They say "no Tuesday". At this point I'm seriously thinking twice about who I'm dealing with. Is this a professional company? I get the trash bin on Monday. Set it out on Tuesday February 12 only to find it full when I got back home. I call republic again "my trash hasn't been picked up" to which they say "your pick up day is Wednesdays for both trash and recycling. Recycling is every other Wednesday or this week." I'm pretty irritated at this point and tell the CSR that I was told Tuesdays and Fridays to which she responds "I'm sorry they told you that but your pick ups are on Wednesdays". So I prepare for the next day. I set out the recycling bin and the trash bin on Tuesday night. When I get back home I find the trash bin empty and the recycling bin full. Yet another phone call to republic services. During the call I say "I was told that my pick up day was Wednesday for both trash and recycling, and that this Wednesday was the recycling day. My trash has been picked up but not my recycling" to which they respond "oh your recycling is not scheduled until next week". That was the end for me. I slept on it just to make sure my mind was clear. I cancelled service the next day February 14th. They told me that the bins would be picked up on the next service day which were Wednesday the 20th and March 1st. So now we're back to the Wednesday Friday schedule. Which I told the other CSR "my pick ups were on Wednesdays." She said "yeah, Wednesday and Friday". LOL, you can't make this stuff up. So I have to wait 2 weeks to get the bins picked up. Meanwhile the new company I'm with was willing to start service the very next day even before dropping their bins off. They came when they said they would and even offered to use republics bins in the meantime. Now THAT'S customer service. So republic picks up the trash bin on Wednesday February 20th and that leaves the recycling for March 1st. On February 27th I arrive home to find TWO NEW republic bins in front of my house! I'm furious at this point. What the hell is going on?! I call republic and tell them to come and pick up their un requested bins, TODAY. I get transferred to 3 different people who make it obvious that they do not communicate with each other. The last girl (Marilyn) was trying to set up a new service. I had to immediately interrupt "NO NO NO, I've already cancelled service. You dropped off two new bins for no reason and haven't even picked the last bin". So now I have a total of 5 bins on my property. Even the exit process with republic has been nothing but a circus. Completely unprofessional and unreliable. How they're still in business is a mystery to me. I had them for less than a month. If they so much as hint at billing me for their non service I've got a letter the the FTC and the Attorney general at the ready. read more

I have cancelled my service 3 times and paid my balance but they keep sending me invoices. I don't even own the house where the service is at anymore but no matter how many times I explain this to them and cancel service along with getting a confirmation number they keep sending invoices and threatening collection letters. HORRIBLE. is the BEST i can say. We changed after our last company was bought out. Since then we get notes almost every week about something wrong, because the guy doesnt want to get out of the truck! We have called, they said they would let the manager in our area know and have him call us 3 times. this last time someone finally call and had some sort of plan to remedy this problem. They said someone would be out monday for the trash. Here it is thursday and its still there! they just called and said it will be tomorrow AGAIN! Now we are back to normal pickup day. Business customers BEWARE! I have had service with Republic for the last 5 years. I originally signed a 1 year contract for the service. They have increased the amount they charge every single year. My bill went from about $120/month for a 4yd container to costing over $380/mo. When I started calling around to their competition, I found several new companies in town charging $55/month. I obviously called Republic to see if they could match the prices I was finding. They stated that they could not, and it was their policy to never lower fees, and to increase them every year. I then asked to cancel the service. They then informed me that their contracts auto renew, and that of course mine had just renewed and that I was locked in for another year unless I paid six months of "liquidated damages" immediately. Once again, I am not canceling service shortly after they delivered a new container and had expenses to recoup. I have had this same container in the same spot for the last 5 years. I am pure profit for this company at this point. What possible "damages" could they incur if my service is discontinued? If I did not agree to these outrageous demands just to cancel their service, they informed me that I would then be referred to their legal department and that they would initiate legal proceedings against my company. This is a horrible way to do business and treat customers. I will obviously never use this company again once I have untangled myself from this mess and would strongly suggest no one get involved with this company without having your lawyer review the contract prior to signing. read more

Copy of what I sent them: I do not have the time to call every week to remind you to pickup. Twice it was not done until the following week, so i was not given 2 weeks of service that I paid for. I was promised an adjustment , but that never happened. Please do what you are being paid to do, without me having to babysit. I would like the credit on my bill, for 2 weeks, minimum. The customer service is non-existent because they employ a phone service to answer all calls. These people at the call center have absolutely no power because they are not employed by Republic. I am being charged for them to pick up my trash bin after I canceled my service. I told them I would rather drop off the trash bin myself and not pay $30.00 for a bin pickup only when they come by my street every week for other bins to be emptied... ONLY because I have the red trash bin and not the blue one I am unable to drop it off, they ONLY accept the blue bins for drop off. EVEN THOUGH they are the company giving out two different bins, yet they both belong to this company. I told them that is outrageous and they should have given me a blue trash bin then, bc many other people on my street have blue ones from this company. I set up trash and recycling service through Republic Services just over 5 weeks ago, in that time I have had to call them 6 times! They have never picked up either trash or recycling on time so I have had to call and wait on hold for 25 minutes (not an exaggeration) every week to schedule a missed pick up. Last week they didn't pick up during the missed pickup time either! The customer service department said that they would give me a $50 credit and wave the delivery fee for the inconvenience, however, I just got my first bill and this did not happen and will honor what was once promised to me. I had residential Republic Services (Massachusetts) for 14 years before I finally had enough of their poor service and increasing prices. They would regularly (at least once a month) miss the pick up day and my trash would sit at the end of the driveway for 2 or 3 days. Several times a year they just wouldn't pick my trash up at all. Every quarter their bill increased a few bucks and after a while you realize you are paying much more than they quoted. And the price they 'quote' over the phone is not the price you pay. They add an 'environmental fee', and an 'administration fee' which will be a nice surprise when you get your bill. Have fun when you try to cancel them too. They charged me $51.50 to come and pick up their trash barrel! I spoke to a supervisor and tried to get the charge waived but they refused. They charged $32 to pick up their barrel and fuel recovery fees and admin fees for a total of $51.50. read more

The trash service itself is very good. The problem is trying to get a person on the phone line is difficult. Their homepage does not make it easy to contact a person via a phone line. Unprofessional facility to work with. And Every Agent you talk to doesn't care about the customer or what the customer have to say. They charge a gate fee without notice. Even thought there is access to the facility to anyone. open to public. There is access to the trash cans, even the homeless around the area they use it. We can go with our security footage for 6 month and they never had problem accessing the trash cans. Damaged property. Lying and Abusive Customer Service I used Republic for my weekly trash pickup and once for a dumpster rental. When picking up the larger dumpster a large portion of my driveway was torn apart due to the driving turning the wheel in place. According to the contract that was signed when renting the dumpster they do not cover minor damage. This goes well beyond minor damage. I have had far heavier trucks on my driveway and the drives of those trucks have never damaged my driveway. When I contacted republic I was accused of lying and the driver of the truck lied and said that my driveway consisted of fresh pavement. My wife later called to cancel service and a supervisor said he would call her back about canceling any remaining billing on our account due to how we were treated. They never called us back. When my wife called again a week later she was then accused of lying and the women on the phone said they had no record of us ever calling. To summarize, my property was damaged, I was accused of lying, my wife was accused of lying, and they can not keep track of records. A horrible corrupt company. read more

can't begin to tell you how horrid this company is. I have to call them several times a year to correct billing issues or to report missed pickups. Missed pickup just last week and was the final straw, I'm normally patient and overlook a few messups, but this is a constant pattern with them. Oh- they said they'd come the next day (yesterday) to get the missed pickup- didn't happen. They have on many occasions charged late fees on my bill when it wasn't late, attempted to jack up rates on bills many times, and yesterday when I cancelled with them- said they'd charge ME $30 to come pickup their trash cans. This company has a lot of hidden fees and charges that they never tell you about. They will charge you $75 dollars to pick up the cans when you cancel services. This was never mentioned in the start up fees and the yearly fees. The customer service is also terrible when you call. I've called a few different times throughout the year and always got rude people when I was asking questions about these hidden fees like I was crazy to ask a question about a fee I was never told about. I was just called a liar by their customer service rep and then hung up on. I called because I was told in a previous call that they would remove extra bag charges since the cans had not been emptied all the way resulting in the extra bags. When the invoice arrived, the extra bag charges remained so I called. Then I was told there were no notes on my account about the bags not being picked up and that I was billed appropriately. Really? Oh, and there were no supervisors available that I could speak with. So because your records are wrong, I get to pay more? I have been a republic (Superior) customer for quite sometime. I just recently noticed my bill jumping up $14. I sent an email per their website asking why and was ignored so after a week of waiting I called and was told there was a rate increase. I was not given advance notice and was also told they no longer offer a senior citizen rate. I have changed service and when I asked Republic about picking up their trash bins I was informed it is going to cost me $20 to have this done, it is their property but I have to pay a fee for them to pick them up, what a joke. Horrible customer service! They've missed our scheduled trash pickup & after 5 calls, refused to come back until the next day.

They are total thieves. On several occasions, they have increased their fees with no notice. Rarely are the monthly invoices even the same. They always seem to be off. I have called a dozen times in the past two months requesting to talk to my sales rep or some sort of a manager but I get the same thing every time, "someone will call you back in 24 - 48 hours". Yea, right! I had put my service on temporary hold during COVID because this is for a restaurant that was closed for two months. They still charged me and to make matters worse, they charged over $100 more than what the service fee should have even been. After several failed attempts to speak with someone and get things corrected, I contacted my bank and reported the incorrect charge. Now, they stop my service every couple of weeks and charge me $35 disruption fees on top of the $588 they inadvertently charged me. They are impossible to deal with. I'm trying to fine their CEO, Dan Slager's contact information so I can give him a piece of my mind. I can see why they are a 10 billion dollar industry. Once they get their hooks in you, you can't leave and they just continue to increase your service fees until you are forced to pay them. read more

BEWARE OF REPUBLIC SERVICES!! I had been using Republic Services for weekly trach collection at the same location for at least 5 years. Last month they moved my account from their Winston-Salem, NC billing office to their Durham, NC billing office without notification (and remember, I never moved). I only discovered this because the Durham office billed me again for the same months I had just paid to Winston-Salem and the Durham bill had a new fuel/environmental recovery fee and an administrative fee that Winston-Salem had never been charged before. At 22.50/month it was a good deal but the bill went up to 30.73/month with an additional Administrative fee of 5.95 each time they bill me. They charge an Admin fee even though they don't have an online billing option, they mail all their bills, I pay through electronic banking and they don't have to handle mail coming in from me. And we already pay taxes for our waste impact, I just paid my property tax and the solid waste programs fee was front and center on the bill so I'd be paying the waste impact/environmental recovery fee twice over. And gas hasn't been this low in years so there shouldn't be a fuel recovery fee needed. When I mentioned that these charges seem to serve no logical purpose they said well, we can't change that. Then they billed me 3 times for the same amount from 3 different billing locations, Winston-Salem, Durham and Conover, Arizona - one of them with a late fee! I still can't figure out why I got a bill from Conover, AZ. It was quite a hassle getting them to understand that I had already paid for my service to Winston-Salem and that they needed to transfer the money I already paid from the old account to the new account, which they reluctantly did - 3 weeks after they said they would. I asked why having my account in Winston-Salem had no fees and having my account in Durham now incurred new fees. They said that's just how it is. They don't seem to have a fair or consistent business plan nor the ability to execute their accounting properly. I paid for 3 months of service and cancelled after 2 months of service and although I was due a refund they said that they zeroed out my account and closed it. And they charged me a fee for them to pick up the empty trash can. I could keep after them but in the end it will be time out of my life that I can't get back and more stress. I know that's what they like, people who give up, but I've decided life's too short. I will not be recommending Republic Services to anyone ever again and I hope people read this before doing business with Republic Services and suffer the same consequences. And I hope this opens the door for another trash collection service to set up shop in the Triangle Area of North Carolina to provide a good and fair service that will put RS out of business. There are certainly enough unhappy RS customers who want to give their hard-earned money to a better service. read more

We have had their service for a little over three months and they are consistently not picking up our trash, recycling, and compost. I understand why this company has the low review rating and all the one star reviews. The drivers that have our route (SE 48th St. in Sammamish Wa.) are horrible and fail to do their job. They are rude and petty for no reason. I had to call three times in one week for three missed pick ups. First call they missed two of the cans and I was told the following day they would come out and get the missed two cans. They only got one so that made it the second missed pick up then the following week the compost was missed yet again. My compost wasn't picked for three weeks meaning I had compost food stewing in the can for three weeks which is gross. I was promised a supervisor would call me within 48 hours and that was over 2 weeks ago, still no call. Then I got a bill in the mail with a charge for them getting the trash they missed. They gave my account a charge for them not doing the job I already pay them to do. To top it all off today was my trash pickup day (every Wednesday) and the Recycling didn't pick up the recycling. Which I made to sure to take pictures to add to my collection. This company needs to hire people that actually have good work ethic and are honest. My next step is contacting the city. I have records of all my calls and pictures and of the missed pick ups, the trash they leave all over the curb, the cans blocking my driveway or the cans in the road, and pictures of what trash is in which can to prove I am sorting the waste properly even though that is the lie used by the drivers every week. read more

Multipe attemps by republic including dropping off the new can after three attempts but not taking the old can, then a follow up to take the new can back instead of leaving the new one and taking the old one.... So I have a 91yr old mother. She has her trash picked up in front of her home instead of curbside. I week ago last Monday they didn't pick up the trash and it blew over during the storm. I cleaned it up for her and when i said if it blows over again they needed to clean it up because of her age. They said it wasn't the policy to have the drivers clean. I guess it is ok to not pick up. This week they didn't pick up her yard waste and was told three didn't times it has been moved up to a route supervisor. As they say Mr. Supervisor trash in trash out. Still hasn't been done and it is now blocking the drive where Thanksgiving guests park. It is on Mercer Island. BEWARE! These people are nothing but crooks. I rented a dumpster from them. They sent me one that was already full. Good thing I was doing the work and saw it. I called. They had me send a picture and sent out another soon after. That was done. The issue comes about a month later I get a emIl from stating my dumster was over weight and the had charged my credit card. They were saying my dumpster was 8000 pounds. Over 4000 pounds overweight. No freaking way. I knew exactly what was in there and how much it weighed. I even went to the the to verify weight. My stuff was only 2500 pounds. Not even the weight that's included in the price. Even if I added 1000 pounds I would just be at the included weight. I even had pictures of my dumpster. So they offer to send me the dump ticket. I get it via email about 3 weeks later. There was nothing on it to identify it was my dumpster. There was things whited out as well. I call and speak with a manager who was no help at all. I explained about the first full dumpster and maybe I was charged for that one as well. He says no. So who got charged for that dumpster? Someone had to. Did you pawn it off on some other smuck! He didn't care that I had the weight and pictures of my dumpster. He says plenty of people have pictures that doesn't mean anything. These mlm people will cheat you anyway they can, and looking at the reviews thus seems to be common practice with them. STAY AWAY! read more

If I could give a negative I would. They miss pick up at least once a month and promise to come the next day only to not show. They dump the trash and then some might fall out and they leave it in the street. They refuse to get us a second container even if we pay for it. Our town has this on our taxes and we are just stuck with terrible service, worse customer service, but high prices. Supervisors claim we aren't putting our can out but when met with video proof we are they said they would have the driver take photos. Now the driver is a complete jerk and finds every excuse in the world not to pick up trash. Today a kid walked by and stuck a metal pipe in our trash he was playing with (we are last house on the street). This happened at 2am! Looked to be a teenager. They denied pick up because someone did this at 2am and they showed up before it got light out to pick up the trash. Cameras don't lie but Republic does! They refuse to pick it up because the driver has a "photo" of the pole with the lid closed on the can sticking out of the side. But they miss at least once a month and now seeking excuses not to pick up! Yet this same driver throws trash in my yard in baggies with marbles in it begging for tips with his home address on a card inside. read more
