They were great when they were Best Way. However, after GFL took over, everything changed. The employees were no longer friendly and helpful. They broke our recycle bin (caught on camera) but left it in pieces in our driveway. When we used a rock to anchor the bin lid in high winds, they used the arms on the truck to repeatedly shake the bin until the rock fell off and broke into pieces all over the sidewalk, which they left there (all caught on camera). When I had spinal surgery and needed extra help, they added carry out service for free. But when I had two bins out (we've always paid for service for two trash bins), they only picked up one and told me that carry out service was limited to only one bin and that if I wanted a second bin picked up, I had to put it out at the curb (physically impossible at that time). They refused to credit/refund our account for the second bin that they refused to pick up even though we paid for two bins. The second bin we had left out, sat out for an extra week, then they said it was "too heavy" to take. When I had my CHILD wheel it down our steep driveway and put it out at the curb, they told me that they would have to send a manager out to investigate before they could pick it up. We told them to stop our service because we were switching trash service companies - they told us they don't give any refunds and recommended not cancelling. We were very happy to stop doing business with them after they gave us so much trouble. read more

I put my trash out on Thursday along with the rest of the community and my trash was left with no reasoning. I called GFL and was told that there was no notes as to way it was not picked up and they would not have a truck in the area until Thursday next week. This is completely unacceptable. Per the HOA our trash can must stay in the garage until the morning of the pick up. So now I have a full trash can that I can not use and have to deal with the overflow and odor for the next week. Hands down best customer service. Always courteous and helpful when we call. Then we went on a short trip and didn't have much trash so we didn't put out the cans went we left. When I checked the security camera the trash pick up men came up and rang the doorbell and waited which I can only assume was because they assumed we had forgotten to put our cans out. BestWay had come to my door and knocked for the cans, when I did not put them out. I opened the garage and the fellow came in to get the can. The other neighbors told me that they were doing the same for them. I thought this was nice of them, particularly because of the bear in the neighborhood. I left the men a tip but they would not take it. One day, (only once) some well-meaning children did yard work and put branches in the recycle can. the trash driver had to come and help the recycle fellow remove he trash form the recycle truck, (I guess he did not look in the can to see the recycle). The trash driver came up to my bathroom window, where I was dressing and banged on the window. He raised his voice about the trash in the recycle container. Telling me that I caused delays and them to have to take the truck in for cleaning. I apologized and shut the window. He was way out of line, showing no boundaries. I admit we made a mistake, but gee whiz.... After that they complained to the company about knocking on the door for the trash when it was not at the curb. They are confusing because the collectors continued to knock on my neighbor's door for the trash without complaining to the company, (same driver). The company called me telling me that they cannot knock for the trash... I went to a more professionally acting company, but problem continues. The trash driver now blocks my drive way. He sneers and shakes his head when he sees me, even threw his hands in the air a few times. I do not understand why he is still angry he is not my trash person, and people make mistakes. Even if they charged 10 dollars with a bear can and recycle- I would never go back. I once though that they were great but honestly a driver with no boundaries is really scary. I understand his frustration about the recycle and yard waste but he could of been more professional and not so overtly intimidating. I called the company about his anger and boundary issues and they said the driver was right to be upset, I agreed but he should not have acted aggressive and continue to act inappropriate. He should not have banged on my bathroom window-I think he saw my shadow through the dim glass- and his issues continues...the company told me I had "no evidence" of his behavior...wow...just wow. read more

Worst trash collectors ever! I left one cardboard box full of light trash beside my one trash can...they emptied the trash can and left the box sitting there on the curb. I called 5 min later while the truck was still in the neighborhood and Terry tells me he'll send the truck back today. I go out several times to put the box back since there are high winds which keep pushing the box down the block, then 8 hours later I call again and they say they'll send a truck back tomorrow instead. My neighbor says this is common...they leave trash sacks and boxes behind half the time. HOA's please be aware...do not use Alpine Waste or you will be getting constant complaints from residents. read more

One of the many that loved Bestway and are moving on to another service. For eight years, Bestway picked up my container at the end of my driveway and returned it to the same spot. In the last couple of months they dump the container and then leave the container in front of my mailbox in the street. Now the mail won't deliver the mail on trash day because the container blocks access to the mailbox. Finally got ahold of someone to fix it and they did for one week, now they aren't picking up the trash and when I called they said they would send a truck out. Day five today and we'll see if they show up, either way I've told them come get the container, I'm done. Our subdivision negotiated a better deal with Waste Management but I have paid more to stay with Bestway because the service was always so good. If I'm going to get terrible service, I might as well save some money. read more

This is the first time I've left a review on Yelp. I had Bestway for years and had been very satisfied with their service. Don't bother with GFL. They don't reliably pick up recycling and take at least 2 days to return your call. Today is another day they didn't pick up the recycling in my neighborhood. Given that most of our waste is recyclable, this is a real issue. Next week's trash bin is going to be full of stuff that could've been recycled. We pay GFL extra for the recycling service. I'm very disappointed. This is the third time I've had an issue with Best way (now GFL). I've called, left voicemails, and even emailed to not get a response. Each time I've had different issues. First they changed their payment method and did notify my when my payments were no longer being processed and on several occasions my trash or recycling has been skipped entirely. For decades Bestway was the best way to have your trash removed. Then they sold out to a Canadian company and we've had problems ever since... Unfortunately, the city of Manitou has a contract with them, leaving us with no other option for service from another company. Bestway/GFL has gotten so bad, people have opted to haul their own trash and honestly I'm considering that option as well. We live in the mountains, we can not leave our trash out at night because GFL can't manage to pick up in our city. So every other week, we're hauling trash out 2 days in a row.. Their service is not provided per their agreed schedule, but rather it comes at their convenience, unannounced, if they feel the urge to service your street....or not. When this was Bestway they were 5 star. Now they are GFL and they are zero star. They were almost always late, if they showed up at all. I never got notice that they were going to show up the next day but my neighbor would so he would tell me. They left my trash can in front of the mail box, which made the mailman unhappy, in the street or in my neighbors driveway. I tried to call and email several times. I was a faithful customer with Bestway Disposal for nearly 8 years. When we signed up their service was top notch. More recently things have drastically changed, and not for the better. They changed the times of pickup times without notice, and missed out cans for a couple weeks. When I called to inquire about it I was informed that if I didn't like it there were other trash companies I could use, but they were too busy to mess with me. They gave me a $7 credit, but not nearly enough to cover the terrible customer service experience. I later found out they were no longer a local company, but owned by a Canadian company. We switched to Springs Waste, (a local family owned company) and save almost $80 per year to boot! Update: one month after my initial review I am updating to share that we continue to have to spend time every week on the phone with our HOA and Alpine in order to get our trash picked up. Despite calling Alpine customer service to have our missed trash picked up, it continues to pile up with no routine service, nor special pick up as a result of missed routes. I've heard nothing from Alpine, despite many requests of the customer service manager, Terry, and our account manager, Angela, to have someone in leadership contact us to help us understand what is being done to address the ongoing service issues. No response. No follow up. This is the worst service I have ever experienced and, at this point, after all of the time I have spent on this issue, I am probably more equipped to work for Alpine than their current staff. Alpine, my challenge stands. Let's see if you call me now. read more

Bestway Disposal used to be the ABSOLUTE best of ALL our service companies. We have been customers for nearly 30 years, and have given our highest recommendation to them to people new to the area. Since they were taken over by GFL they are the WORST. Totally undependable on pickup schedules, and their response to the latest snowstorms was deplorable. We used to be able to call their office or send them an email, and we got immediate responses. I have left at least three voicemails, and sent an email, and gotten NO responses to anything. Not only were all of the shop employees disrespectful, arrogant, and ignorant. The employees of Alpine Waste and Recycling thought it was normal to create a hostile work environment. An employee threatened my stating if he lost his job from threatening me and cussing me out, he was going to **** me up. We have had their service for seriously 20 years and they have always been great!! They have even knocked on my door when I have forgotten to put trash out a couple times over all those years. Just a great company! They could have raised my price and I wouldn't care because their service has always been awesome!! I thought after they did not pick up they are probably trying to get caught up after the snow - no big deal. I call them and they tell me after 20 years (on auto pay) my service is cut off due to non-payment. Turns out they have been bought and a letter (I never got) said I had to set up a new account with the new company. Really?? I'm on auto pay - you can't just transfer to new company? The guy on the phone was very nice so when I paid my past due I asked if there was any way they could pick up my trash so I don't have to wait another week. You'd think they would do it for a 20 year customer but no. N0 trucks in area for a week. Or maybe they say sorry, we just don't have any trucks but we will not charge you for one pick up. GFL has good curb service. Bestway is gone. GFL is a very different company. Their business office is a mess. I send payment, payment clears my bank and they send a collection letter. This happens about once a year. They do not answer the phone. The voice mail says they will return the call within 24-48 hours - they do not. I have left at least 4 messages - never returned. I have sent proof of payment, snail letters, voice mails - no response. It is a business pattern. Little more than a scam. It's a shame. Bestway was a great company to work with for many years. I have been with Rocky Mountain Disposal for nearly 8 years and in the beginning, they were perfect. In the past 2 years however, they have turned into the worst trash company on the planet since they merged with Bestway Disposal. I have had my auto pay account shut off repeatedly for a year straight; no one tells me this of course until suddenly my trash isn't picked up for weeks and I have to keep calling to re-set it up all over again. My garbage cans are left blocking the public sidewalks with the lids left open (water fills the damn things when it rains) rather than in my driveway where they originally were put or I find them laying in the middle of the street!!! I have had to repeatedly call and remind them to pick up my trash for over a month straight and they have the gall to ask me during every call if I left them out early enough to be picked up. ('Are you kidding me?!!! I have a 24 hour surveillance system that records everything! I can see the damn trash siting out there NOT being picked up!) Both Rocky Mountain Disposal and Bestway Disposal is bottom line horrible; they never should have combined companies. What makes it worse is that they are listed as two separate companies online, however they are claiming a joint partnership when you speak to them personally; fucking confusing as hell!!! Funny how my bill was $10 higher. $90 for trash is ridiculous. They leave my can in the street where cars can hit it. They drive stupid fast through residential neighborhoods. I received my new quarterly bill from Bestway that included a price increase again. I logged onto my account and a window pops us saying that they were bought by GFL and there isn't going to be any price increases. I googled GFL and saw it stated in the media that they were slowly transitioning billing/different colored trash cans from Bestway to GFL and there would be no price increases. I RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE! This is another Colorado Springs nightmare story since GFL Environmental purchased Bestway in 2020. Last December a driver came by my house to pick my receptacles stating I my bill was overdue. He said he wouldn't pick them up that day and give me a chance to make sure I was paid up and left. I got online and made sure that my bill WAS paid. A few days later I came home and my receptacles were gone anyway. At this point I was fed up with such bad service and went with another trash collector. Then I started getting collection notices in the mail and calls from a collection agency. I called the number and was directed to the local Colorado Springs office earlier this month and they said that I owed money for service between February and April AFTER the my trash cans had already been TAKEN AWAY. I explained that my trash bins had been taken in December. They said that they had no record of a work order to remove my receptacles, and that the drivers had still been driving by and recording that there was no trash or recycling on the curb. Funny how that works when you don't have bins to put out . . . Anyway, they said they'd spoken to their manager and that they would forgive the amount I supposedly owed them. I thought the issue was resolved, but then received some more calls and a letter from the same collection agency after that call. I called the GFL number listed on the collections letter, got a voice mailbox, left a message and never got a response. A couple days later after receiving another automated call from the collection agency I called the collection agency and stated that I was disputing the collection. The representative recorded my statement explaining that I had not received service I was being billed for, and I also told her that I would be contacting GFL directly. Today I drove to the office in Colorado Springs and spoke to a customer service rep in person (one of about 10 representatives answering the phone in cubicles just behind the reception area). While I was waiting to speak to someone, I overheard snippets of conversations about the old Bestway web site now being down and that the customer would have to register with the new GFL site, missed pickups with promises to send the driver back out and so forth. I explained my situation. The woman who spoke with me said that she looked at my record and it said I still owed a balance. I told her about the other representative stating they had no work order regarding collecting my trash bins, and she said they don't have those records (a contradiction to what I'd been told before). All they see on the account is that the customer didn't pay. She explained that after 3 months of non-payment a driver gets a notice to pick up the bins on their tablet and does the work. That is controlled by corporate instead of the local office she said. Apparently they don't have a record of removing my bins in December. Perhaps the driver went to the wrong address? A screw-up regardless. She said she couldn't do anything about collections, that it was out of her hands, and I'd have to contact the corporate office. All she could do was take payments at the local office (another contradiction from my prior call). She did give me the corporate number with advice to not allow them to transfer me to the Colorado Springs office. I asked her if she could record that I had visited the office and she said she'd make a note in my now closed account's record. Apparently the company does not allow local representatives to resolve any billing issues. Although she was a nice enough person, I wasn't impressed with the businesses' policies. I tried calling the corporate number she had given me afterwards (1-800-207-6618). I was too late since they are apparently based in the east coast (the local representative said Maryland) and have business hours between 8 am and 5 pm Monday through Friday Eastern Time. I'll try to give another call to corporate on Monday before their offices close, but I'm not optimistic that this will be resolved. Of course the easy way out would be simply pay the $104 and be done with it to keep this whole thing off my credit report. I'm sure many other people do. After reading a bunch of other reviews on GFL, wearing a customer out to be rid of the hassle seems to be par-for-the-course for this company and a terrible way to do business! read more

Yelp Seriously needs a zero star option. This outfit is run by quite possibly the most incompetent batch of human beings on the planet. This little batch of "special" has not a single time in one year managed to get through a month without an issue. Once, these Masters of Human intelligence missed our recycling for an entire month. Kept taking it in and out until we couldn't even walk in our garage without knocking over piles of recycling. Sometimes, they only pickup half the complex and ignore the other half. I would have guessed they had a stroke, but it happened multiple times. Usually they blame it on our HOA management Company, and then pivot to our HOA. Luckily, my wife is our Treasurer, and has shown me the dates and times for each payment to these dunces and it isn't our fault. Apparently, working in waste removal doesn't require much education, who knew? Either way, I bet a retarded chimpanzee can sort out how to cash a check. Every time it is some excuse but it comes down to these fuckwits are simply incapable of removing trash bins and placing the contents into a single large vehicle, once a week, on the same day, consistently. I bet we could train gerbils to be more useful than these bozo tossers. Oh, and they don't even bother to communicate either. Email, text message, phone call, strippergram, smoke signal, ANYTHING. I sit here, watching my trash bake in the sun like a migrant in the Sahara. Pardon the rant, I just am incapable of dealing with such unfettered stupidity. Before Bestway was taken over by GFL, their customer service was fantastic. Since GFL, there is no longer customer service at all. I have called 5 times during business hours, and there is no answer. I have left 3 messages within the course of 6 weeks, and have not received a return phone call. I have filled out 2 online forms to add recycling to my order, and again, nothing. Really missing Bestway. Very disappointed in GFL. I will be moving my service to another company. read more

Bestway Disposal has been throwing away our recycling and still charging us, for that service. I've watched it happen the last 2 weeks I have been home, from work. Who know how long this has been going on. Customer service appologized, but no solutions were offered to either refund our account or address the route problem. Alpine has been late several times over the past year to pick up my trash and recycling. I've been very patient with them but last week they decided to never pick up my recycling. I gave them a few days and then called the office. I was told they weren't returning to any homes to pick up recycling or trash they missed because they're low on employees due to Covid.
