POTENTIAL NEW CUSTOMERS BEWARE. Wish I can give ZERO stars. By far the worst pickup and customer service I have ever experienced. More expensive than most of their competitors too. They do not pick up garbage when they are supposed to.You have to lay out a red carpet for them to pick up otherwise they just pass it by. They do not collect the day after holidays.So you have to wait until the following week for a pickup. Customer service gives you a runaround, and you wind up getting nowhere. Republic Services is now the well compensated contractor for trash removal in my townhome community. Apparently, this arrangement consistently eludes them as trash collection occurs on a "when we feel like it" basis. Monday holidays have always been a get out of jail free card with promised "next day" pick-up a fleeting notion with no integrity or backbone. We wouldn't want them breaking a sweat so close to National Pizza Day. Excuses are many and varied but perhaps the old chestnut of you're SOL carries the day, meaning the only recourse is no recourse. I hate to say that I've become a connoisseur of carting but Waste Management ran their business like clockwork. Republic is garbage. Zero stars. read more

I have been a customer of Republic Disposal services for last 15 years. First I will thank and praise them for their timely service over the last 15 years except missing collection a few times. However, a very bad practice with them is that they would increase your charges every quarter and if you complain they would give you a little break in charges. It creates aggravation and waste of time. Recently, they jacked up the price for over 30% so I complaint to the central office who refused to do anything. As a result I contacted their major competitor Sanico, who I have on my other properties. Their charges were 45% cheaper from Republic services in my area. My account was closed with Republic as of March 23rd, 2025 before the end of current quarter on March 31st, 2025. To my surprise Republic charged my account again $ 167.49 for the next quarter on April 6, 2025 which was the reason I cancelled their services. I have been trying to reach them over the phone to find out why they charged my account while it says closed but can not get thru the phone as it is always on hold for more than 30 min (5 attempts). It is a pity why their service is so much poor and deceptive. Very unhappy. read more

We requested a mattress pick up a 4 days ago. Now we are on 3 days of phone tag with this company just to get a mattress picked up. All their reps give different information. Different pick-up times, different closing times. THEN, if they don't pick up, I am responsible to keep calling to re-schedule!! We have asked for a manager/supervisor to call us BUT THEY HAVEN'T. We have been a business client for two years. The collection has been eradicate at best. You can't reach anyone by phone. You leave messages with a phone center and no one ever calls back. I eventually was given the contact information for our representative. I spoke to her once to discuss our collection issues. Since then I have left dozens or messages and sent as many emails with know response. Please do not do business with this company. It's not worth the headaches. It's been 2+ weeks since my dumpster pick up was missed and it has yet to be recitified. The staff that answer the phone phones are utterly useless, frankly the foreign barely English speaking customer service of Comcast does a better job. I previously called to schedule a few pick ups back in January in which I was told there we no issue by Kim the woman I spoke to. One pick up was never put into the system period and the other one we missed due to the snow several weeks ago. Fast forward I was promised a pick up last week and dumpster removal on the 7th. And yet my dumpster is still full. Now the dilemma lies in the fact that Republic's record system SUCKS. Someone closed my account (I scheduled an extra pick up and then dumpster removal as I MOVED) and therefore has made it an issue for me to get anything done. This is not my problem but your company's problem. This shouldn't affect me and yet your incompetent staff can't help me because the account closure. I switched to republic thinking that because is a big company I'll get good service here in Edison nj. I own a restaurant and republic is supposed to pick up my garbage twice a week. Since a got my service they keep missing at least one day a week. When you call them for answers they got the meanest people working there hanging up in you and not apologizing and solving the problem. I called a few companys to get a quote for 2x/week pick up and Republic gives me the lowest quote, a base price of $65 quarterly. Great. Tell me why I get my statement and I'm charged $150. So apparently there was a $33 garbage bucket delivery fee I was NEVER told about and they charge more hidden fees than Verizon. I was charged $35 for "Fuel/Environment Fees", Recyling Surcharges, etc. I immediately call to complain then cancel. I'm told the company is going to come on Dec 5th to pick up the buckets (another fee of $33 is charged to pick up the cans bc this company is a piece of @#!*). I come home Dec 1st from work and the cans are missing. These people had the damn AUDACITY to walk onto my property uninvited to take their buckets without informing me. Seriously, use Total Garbage instead, you're welcome. They charge a flat fee of $25/month for 2 weekly pickups. It's Thursday and they never picked up my trash on Tuesday. This is the most disgusting service provider that I ever had the misfortune of dealing with. We cancelled our service. This week is the last pick up. I guess they decided that they would just end a week earlier. They are all not answering their phone. Just cancelled today after 12 years of service. They stopped picking up the garbage in my neighborhood out of the blue about 6 months ago. We had to call every week to tell them and sometimes they came the next day or two days or three days. Lately they picked up my neighbors garbage on the same street and not mine...probably because we complained. The customer service offered every excuse and even credits for the missed service (which never appeared). We can NOT give them any stars(only gave them one star to be able to post). We have a twice a week pickup and noticed that for months they would only pick up once a week. We made countless phone calls to corrected it. We where told they went down to ocean a week pick ups only, so I said either way we are owed money. Some one finally called us back and said, you do have twice a week pick ups. I said well, you still owe us money. They finally adjusted our bill, then proceeded to cancel our service. It was half full then I received a package with lots of styrofoam.. then realize I never put can put. I called to ask if they're still in the area would they swing back. She said she would try otherwise they would schedule a pick up for me the next day. They did return and took my over flowing can. I was thankful. We had been using Republic Services for many years after switching from one of the local trash companies. This was a BIG mistake. While the trash service was OK and the bin a bit nicer than the other companies, the increasing rates these shady operators charge extinguish any positive rating possible. In 2015 we were paying about $150 per quarter. In 2019, they quarterly rates charged increased from $229 to $270. In 2020, the quarterly rates charged increased from $271 to $319. In 2012 they quarterly rate increased to $357. After complaining that our rates were increased to about $25 per pickup, the response was that they would gladly charge us $50 per pickup. Bye, bye... Be careful of these folks ripping you off as well. read more

They charged me just under $70 for a "overage" over two months ago during a pick up. I have security cameras on the dumpster and do not see anything. They took it off my bill once, it's back on again though, same date. You can't reach them by phone so you have to email, you can't reply to the email and it took 4 days just to get a sentence reply. -- I just realized I put this on the wrong location. I am a new home owner in Holmdel, New Jersey. I signed up, ordered and paid for a new trash cart to be delivered and selected the option of yearly billing. The trash cart never showed on the scheduled date and I received a quarterly bill. I called in and after being passed around to 4-5 people + a very long wait in between each, they were all unsure if they could even do yearly billing in my location (despite initially allowing me to sign up for it). With regards to the trash cart, they said it is delayed (it would have been nice to know without having to call in) and someone will call me from the local branch early next week. No one called (it is Wednesday). I called in again today and again they could not help and just said they will contact the local branch to get an update. I can't express how frustrating it is to move into a brand new house in a nice town and then have accumulating trash in my garage for weeks and not being to get a straight answer from anyone and no service. It is like the First Republic call center is completely divorced for the local branch and they have no communication between them. read more

Update: After canceling, Republic tried to shake me down for a $44 "container removal fee" that is not in their contract and which I never agreed to pay. I am so glad that I canceled and am getting much better service now at half the price.
