Two phone calls about a missed pickup and my recycling has still not been picked up. on 10/13/2020 , they did not pick up my recycling as scheduled so I called and reported it as a missed pickup and scheduled for 10/14/2020. At 4:45 on 10/14/2020, Randy called to remind them because they drove down my street and did not pick up my recycling. They told him that they would notify dispatch but they had until 5:00 to pick it up. Needless to say, my recycling was never picked up and upon calling them, I have been notified that I could throw it away because if it is "too full" they would not pick it up! read more

This company is either understaffed or very lazy. My bins are always tipped over. Trash is thrown across my yard. And this week they forgot to pick up my Christmas tree!!!!! My dad, grandfather and uncles have all been garbage men. I know its a tough job but this company sucks!!!! Another update: Since speaking to a second Republic supervisor last year, who explained that our issues are related to COVID and staffing (still not sure why no one at Republic customer service has this information), the company has only missed one pick-up and properly emptied all containers. Complete loss of confidence in this company's ability to do anything they say they will do. Someone needs to do a complete audit of the Plesant Hill customer's service level agreement breaches for work orders that are never fulfilled and hold whoever is responsible accountable. Be it Contra Costa county officials or Republic Services operations management. It's unacceptable for any organization that monetizes services to not fulfill services that they contractually agree to do. I scheduled a bulk pick up that was confirmed for pick up. We just moved into the area and spent hours bundling and packaging our recycling to the specifications Republic Services gave us. On the pick up day nobody came and upon investigation I found out that the work order was closed. When I called the service line the agent said someone noted that the schedule was delayed to the next day. The next day nobody showed up, I called them again and the agent told me there was no such report of a re-schedule. The agent then proceeded to schedule it again the day after that with priority and even sent a note to the dispatch management. On the third day I checked in 1 hour before the end of the pick up window, and the current agent confirmed that it was scheduled that day with priority. It's past the window and they still didn't come and pick up the bulk items. Mind you as a customer I am following their requirements and the company isn't reliable for their scheduled pickups. I can't keep moving tons of boxes back and forth to the street expecting promised services that never follow through. We don't have sidewalks in my community so I have to place the boxes in the edge of my driveway which blocks my vehicles. I am also trying to be a good Steward to my community and not leave these boxes in plain sight. Each engagement that was promised and scheduled, this company never communicated to me that the service was going to get delayed or cancelled. I have to call them and. Reliable trash service is something that can be easy to take for granted, until you don't have it. The time since I have been using Republic, they have not picked up the trash on the assigned day - not once. Sometimes, they just skip a week all together, but won't take excess trash outside of the bin. I recently paid for a large item pickup. I followed their instructions and placed the items by the garbage bins on the curb on our trash day. They did not take the trash in the bins nor the large items. Instead they went down a different driveway of ours, and took large items that were far from the street. Items that they say they don't take like plywood and that weren't on the large item pickup order list. We saw them in process and chased after them but they were already in process of compacting it. They told us to file a claim with the business office, who just said sorry. We hope another company will serve this area so we have another choice. We are not getting what we are paying for with Republic. read more

Does anyone even read any of these reviews and do something about anything? Coming and collecting the garbage which is there selected occupation is one thing but doing a half ass job doing it is another. When these people come and collect the garbage, they turn it over and if it doesn't come out, that's YOUR BAD. No effort into ANYTHING. Recently I've moved and tried to reach someone to call me back to update my account and services. Left THREE messages and no one called me back... Because no one returned my call and that I don't have time to stay on hold all day long, I was not able to update my account and my garbage wasn't picked up last week. I'm on hold with them now as I type this review -- spoke to a rep, got my information pulled up and put me on hold. Not sure what type of technical difficulties they're having in updating the address but it's taken 30 minutes and 15 seconds and counting. RIDICULOUS. There has got to be a better way and a better business to go to. read more

We used this service for about 5 years. Too bad we don't have any other choice in Martinez! Once a while the truck driver forgot to pick up either the trash bin, recycle bin or green bin. If we have time we will call , if we don't have time to call the company, we will just live with it. Today the girl (too bad I forgot to asked her name) answered the phone has forced me to give this one star review! They didn't pick up the green bin ( supposed be every other week) for the last 3 weeks, meaning they failed 2 times. Today is 11/24. They supposed picked up the green bin on 11/2 and 11/16. The girl (operator) didn't even apologized to me instead she told me that I should have called the first week when they missed to pick it up. It sounds like it was my fault now. She told me that I have to wait until next Monday (11/30) for the driver to pick it up. I asked if they can pick up a extra trash bag size of greens since the green bin will only got pick up once in November. She told me "oh no, that will be a extra charge." I mean who was training her to be a operator?? Does she even know what is Customer Service!? Not professional at all! She can say,"sorry mam I understand it's inconvenience for you because our driver's fault. Unfortunately our company don't have this policy." But she make it sounds like my fault!! I don't know what the drivers do, but we have had so many times when the driver either skips one side of the street or skips the whole street. I call but I get, "the route is complete today so you will need to wait until tomorrow." Meanwhile, the old food and garbage has been sitting in the hot sun in the cans all day and is rotting. Not sure why we pay good money for trash pick up and get sub standard service. In private companies, the drivers would be fired for their poor performance. UPDATE - Jan, 2019 We are three weeks into the new year and I have called three times for missed pick ups. Week 1 - recycle was picked up two days late Week 2 - both trash and recycle were missed. "Drivers were back in the yard at 1 PM and done for the day." Then, at 4:30 PM, trucks came to pick up both. Week 3 - recycle picked up on one side of the street. After calling, guy showed up four hours after he did the first side. Do the drivers not follow a prescribed route? How hard is it to pick up garbage? Amazing. NO STARS for this company! Customers are expected to recycle. I have the expectation that Republic/Allied Waste will pick up my recycles on the scheduled day, every other week. I am not super clear why but every other week they miss picking up our green bin or recycling, the garbage pick up always seems fine. This week they missed the green bins on Tuesday, I called Wed and did not hear back, called again Thursday and they said it would be picked up by end of day Thursday, which did not happen, called Friday and was told it would be picked up by Friday end of day and a Supervisor would call me and neither occurred. Now I am being told Monday. If this happened occasionally it would not be a big deal, I get if you have a new driver on the route you might have a miss but it typically happens 2-3 times per month. read more

Do you understand how horrible service must be to leave a review on a waste removal company? And yet here I am writing about the incompetent and moronic people that work for Republic Services. First thing, the men who do the pick up are sexist! I regularly have to ask my male neighbors to get their attention or speak to them because they blatantly ignore me and other women on my block have said the same. Their phone line, when calling customer service, has some ongoing static. However, their customer service was great when I called this morning to set up an account for garbage/recycling/yard waste pickup. The customer rep was friendly, and explained to me that that they require at least a week's notice to start/stop service. Since I am moving into my house on Feb 27th, she said to call by February 24th to have my first pickup happen on the 3rd of March, a Friday (in my new neighborhood, the garbage/recycling/yard waste gets picked up on Fridays). For homeowners, they require that one faxes a copy of the deed showing home ownership, or a faxed copy of the most recent property tax bill showing the property's address and the homeowner's name. I liked how the rep made sure that all my questions were answered before ending the call. In my opinion, the Contra Costa Water District customer service reps could learn a lot from Republic Services' customer service department. read more

Wow it is amazing how low the reviews are for this company. How nice would it be to have options to choose a trash company on our own and not forced into something the city chooses. Yesterday they missed the recycle bins on my side of the street, maybe on both sides but I only noticed my neighbors and my own did not get emptied. Today the truck made an unusual round so I rushed my bin out to the street while the driver was dumping the neighbors can. When the driver pulled up he asked me if my bin was full? Pretty sure he saw me rush to put it out in front of him as he was dumping the neighbors can so I was unsure why there was any question. I said "it's about 3/4 full" and pointed to the side of the can at the level. He said OK I'll dump it as if he was doing me some kind of favor. So he was not doing me a favor, he was providing the service I pay for and doing that a day late inconveniencing me since I had to put my can back out. I asked him what happened yesterday, he said the driver was sick. OK, fair enough but anybody with any decent customer service would have probably been apologetic for the gap in service. Next the driver goes on to say he won't dump it unless I am 20' away. So I back up behind the concrete pillar to what seems to me like 20' away. I put my arm up indicating I am ready for him to dump. Then he shuts the truck off and yells at me, "I've got all day and I won't dump it until you are at least 20' away" as if there was some kind of challenge between he and myself. So I backed up another 10' which would have been inside the house if had a small driveway. Then the driver starts the truck up and dumps it the fastest I have ever seen one of these trucks move and roars off. I absolutely love my physical service. Where Republic falls short - very short is phone customer service. I have an on-going issue for months now. Each time I call I am told a supervisor will review my original call and call me back. Not once has anyone called me! The last time, I even requested them to place a note within the account as to it NOT being delinquent until they fix it. However, I am now getting notices of my services getting cancelled if I do not pay. This is all in their error and could get resolved if they listen to my original call to find out I never asked for my service to be changed and fix the bill! Could be easy but no one in management thinks it is important enough to call me back and resolve! read more

Republic Service in the last 4 weeks have not been picking up our garbage, our recycle and our green waste on a regular basis. The cans sit out on Wednesday night until Friday or Saturday and sometimes until the following Monday baking in the sun. This is health a hazard. Our we living in a third world country now? We can't depend on them for consistent service. I have called, and get the run around. They don't have enough workers.Then hire more people? We called Wednesday to be told someone would come out to pick it up that day or Thursday at the latest. Thursday come and gone, no trash was ever pick up. I am so frustrated. I called in an order for a mattress set to be picked up on our usual Monday pickup day.
