I adopted my cat from here. They truly give unparalleled medical and emotional support to these animals. They do the best they can and the facility is beautiful. They really go above and beyond with medical and temperament testing on their animals. They truly care. I filled out an application online and went in person to see if I could find "the one" they gave me all the time I needed and my little girl had to stay an extra week for an eye surgery. Brian kept me constantly up to date on how she was doing and when she could come home. Highly recommend adopting from here!

My boyfriend wanted to buy me a dog and we adopted a five year old dog, Roscoe. They were so pleasant and great. I'm so ashamed I have to now return the dog today because nothing was quite thought out all too well. I was thinking, having the dog would be uplifting and minimize my anxiety, which was true. I am so pleased they approved the return of him and were also kind and thorough in not just the adoption but this as well. I believe what they do is nothing short of amazing.

Excellent shelter. We've been supporting the Monmouth County SPCA for many years now and had a wonderful time this past weekend at their Valentine's Day Brunch fundraiser at McLoone's Pier House in Long Branch. The shelter was completely renovated a few years ago and the potential adoptees are housed in clean, roomy, bright, glassed-in enclosures and "gazebos" that allow them freedom to move around, play and cuddle with friends, and see and be seen by visitors to the shelter. The shelter also hosts a low-cost vaccination and spay/neuter clinic, the Vogel clinic, and the Maureen O'Brien thrift shop, which has currently been commandeered to store pet food donations being used to aid pets impacted by would-be Hurricane Sandy. The SPCA is also temporarily boarding pets impacted by Sandy until their owners can again care for them. Last summer, the SPCA also worked with the property owners of the Freehold Raceway Mall to not renew the lease of the mall's pet store and opened an adoption annex of the shelter there in it's place showcasing kittens and puppies, many of which are rescued from over-crowed and high-kill shelters in the South and Puerto Rico. HIGHLY recommended.

On 9/11, an otherwise somber day, we had the joyful luck to adopt our new furry friend, Cheddar, a 4 month old kitten. We wish to thank the wonderful volunteer, Ross, as well as the staff who assisted us with the adoption. They are all a real credit to the association. The place was beautiful and all the cats were well taken care of by these caring people.

Highly recommend this shelter to anyone that is looking to adopt an animal. My boyfriend and I went yesterday to look for our first cat ever and was matched with a beautiful 8-year-old named Zoe. She is the most wonderful cat anyone can ask for. Zoe is the sweetest thing and having her is like a dream come true for us. The employees at Monmouth SPCA really took the time to get to know our needs and helped us find the perfect cat. Ross was extremely friendly and helpful. He educated us so much on having a new cat and the adoption process was a breeze. Zoe, along with all the other animals there, were very well taken care of and you can really tell that they care about these animals. The employees want nothing but the best for these little furry friends. Thank you Monmouth SPCA for finding us to the most amazing cat!

They are extremely communicative, and the events are usually held on Saturdays, but the transport that was bringing the dogs in had troubles and the event ultimately had to be moved to Sunday. I had my phone call at about 11:15 and about 1 PM hours later I was informed about the date change. It is not a typical adoption shelter that I have been to in the past. At the event, there is a ticket system, as in, the earlier you get there the earlier you will be called. While you wait you mingle with the volunteers and the dogs. You get a vibe on which dog feels like the best fit for you. However, be mindful that the crew with MatchDog Rescue does their due diligence and wants the best for EVERY SINGLE DOG. We went to the event with a very specific dog in mind. One that was on the medium/large end. However, the staff that reviewed our application and lifestyle, let us know that the dog might not be the best fit for us in terms of training and size of our home. While it was disappointing to hear, we knew at heart we wanted what was best for the dog and us. As mentioned before there is a mingling period while waiting to be called on by staff. During this period you can meet dogs of all ages, sizes, and all types OUTSIDE of dog cages. We had met several different dogs during this period, just to name a few that I can remember, Nevada, Hewitt, Cassidy, Dukie, and Garret. We bonded with several dogs early on, but with our hearts set on a specific dog, we just enjoyed their presence. However, after being informed that the dog we had our hearts set on was not a good fit for us, we knew which of the many dogs we met during the mingling period we wanted to go on a walk with. We asked if Hewitt was a good fit for us, confirmed he was, took him on a little stroll around the lot, and knew that our hearts were set on him. We went through the process of adopting him and each volunteer we worked with, remembered Hewitt and always told us how he was such a great dog and a cute little snippet or fun fact about Hewitt. There was never a doubt in my mind that Hewitt was not loved under their care. On our way out with Hewitt, the last volunteer that we worked with walked us to our car, ensuring that Hewitt was buckled in and safe and had their very loving and sad goodbyes with each other. Hewitt has been with us for about a week. We are a very calm, but active couple and Hewitt matches exactly that for us. When we are relaxing, he is relaxing. When we are running, Hewitt is right there running with us. It is not something that I considered when I was looking into adopting a dog, but I am extremely grateful the staff at MDR let us know before adopting a dog. If ever in the future I am looking for a second dog, there is no doubt in my mind that MDR will be the first adoption agency I look into.

Their volunteers coordinate with partner rescues in areas with an abundance of overcrowded, high-kill shelters. The fosters nurture, care for and partner with veterinary professionals to ensure that the rescued pups are primed to thrive in their new "Furever" homes. We were transferred from a North Jersey animal hospital to Red Bank Veterinary Hospital because we were told they were the best of the best -- and my goodness, that could not have been more true. From the emergency team to the greeters at the front desk, every single person treated us with urgency, compassion, and professionalism. They took Paisley in immediately, and the neurology team had her scheduled for an MRI first thing the next morning. I truly cannot say enough about Dr. Sheen. Her compassion, knowledge, and incredible people (and animal!) skills were beyond reassuring during such a traumatic time. She even went the extra mile to check on Paisley's results on her day off. That level of care meant everything to us. After some much-needed good news, we later worked with Dr. Haggerty for five tooth extractions and a root canal. Once again, from the moment we walked through the doors, we were blown away by the level of care and expertise. The hospital itself is spotless, massive, and run so seamlessly. Honestly, if I ever needed surgery, I'd want it to be at Red Bank It is an incredible place for both humans and animals during times of crisis and need. We are forever grateful to the entire team for taking such amazing care of Paisley. Thank you for being exactly who everyone says you are -- the absolute best.
