This review is for Resh's whipped shea butter, I am hooked on it. A few years ago (2012), I became aware of this salon and it's products at a natural hair event in Delaware. At the show, they actually made the whipped shea butter; mixer and all, on site. So not sure if I would like it, I decided to purchase a small container and took a business card. After the 1st use, I was devoted. Frequently ordering, telling friends and family as well as giving as gifts, to share my experience and spread the word about a product I really enjoyed and use daily. Clearly, 3 years and this review tells you how I feel about this product. They offer unscented, butter crunch, cucumber melon, and strawberries & cream (new) whipped shea butter. The scented flavors offer a mild fragrant aroma, are not overly greasy/oily however makes my skin smooth, soft and supple as well as lasts for hours. The shea butter comes in 6 and 8 ounce size round containers. They are great gift ideas that can be done as part of a gift assortment or just given solo, As Is. Resh also offers salon services for natural and relaxed hair which I haven't tried but am interested. However, a co-worker whom is a regular at the salon speaks very admirably of their hair services. I researched a ton of salons that claim to do Natural hair styling well but Resh really does. The pandemic has been a challenge for most hair salons. However Resh's owners & staff have overcome the obstacles and provide exceptional customer service centric services. The professional operation starts with being able to make your appointments online, selecting your services & stylist. My concern was getting the best colorist & in my humble I did with Angie. The assistants are also extremely professional and render such high quality service that I generously tipped them for a job well done too. Pros: Quick but awesome service, nice decor and exceptionally clean. Cons: None. If you are looking for a great salon that does all texture hair but especially African Americans then look no further. I booked a First Time Facial with Myka on their IG page. This was my first time at Resh, the salon was beautiful and clean. I was presented with an intake form regarding my skin goals, etc. so I would suggest if getting this service come 5 mins earlier if possible. I was greeted immediately and directed to the wait area. Now about this facial!!!!!! AMAZING! From my face to my shoulders to my hands! I don't have major skin concerns but I did have some sunburn on my shoulders/arms and this facial gave my face an instant revival. My first time visiting this hidden gem I was pleasantly surprised! I've never gotten a facial (I know, don't judge) and I've been searching for a salon I felt comfortable with for quite some time. The young lady was very knowledgable and gave me lots of tips on how to keep my skin feeling soft and looking refreshed. Recently I went back to try the v steam and was once again extremely impressed. The whole experience was extremely relaxing, I wish i could remember the name of the receptionist who set the room up and explained the process to me, she was very accommodating and patient. lastly, they sell their own whipped shea butter and it's amazing!! I would give my last experience at this salon half a star if I could. I was not pleased with the customer service and the long time for services to be rendered. 1) I arrived at my Saturday 9:30am appointment for trim and 2 -strand twists on time despite there being a huge rainstorm that caused an accident on 95 and almost caused me to get hit by a truck. I arrived in good spirits, happy to be there. I checked in and took a seat in the waiting area. After about 10 minutes, two women came into the waiting area and said, "is [my name] here?" I stood up and the one woman said to the other- "see? She's been here." So apparently there was a mix up about whether I was actually there. But we went to the bowl! 2) After my hair was washed and I sat under the hood, I was not directed to a chair, but back to the waiting area. At this point it was about 11am. I waited in the waiting area about 20 minutes before being called to another chair. 3) I got to a chair that was for a stylist who seemed new. I have thick hair. She proceeded to blow dry my hair for the trim by holding a hair dryer in one hand and a comb in the other. It took a very long time. A very long time. So long that after over an hour, the office manager said she was about to leave and needed to cash everyone out. The manager approached me about payment. I said I didn't feel comfortable paying. I had none of my scheduled services rendered at that point. No trim, no style. It was almost 2pm at this point. Remember- I got there at 9:30! I reluctantly gave my debit card. Shook my head. 4) After the drying was done, was told to sit in the waiting area, AGAIN. And guess what? The office manager was sitting up front talking to other women about a violent incident that happened the other night. Hmmm. I thought she had to go? 5) My stylist trimmed me. Then walked me to a bowl TO WET MY HAIR. ??? She trims dry but twists wet. So I sat through all that drying with a novice stylist, just to have my hair wet again? 5) Was in my stylist's chair for 2 strand twists a little after 2. EVERYONE left. I saw everyone leave: people getting dreds re-twisted, press and curls, even someone getting braids. 9:30am start. I was done around 3:30. 6) I was at the time 25 weeks pregnant. I was offered my first food snack around 2, when I was in the trim chair. I was visibly pregnant, at a salon all day, and got very little nice treatment, except from the woman who washed my hair who offered me water. 7) I expressed my strong disappointment in my experience to my stylist, who again, was the only one there with me because everyone had wrapped up. She said for me to leave my contact info and someone will call me. I never received a call. I will tell everyone I know (lots of black people whose hair is natural) to not go to RESH. The customer service was despicable. My style was not spectacular, after that long wait. It was my 3rd time there - I had had OK experiences there before. But this was terrible. And to not have follow -up made it even worse. It's extremely disappointing as a black woman who wants to support black businesses, especially those who hire black women. So overall I really like this salon and spa. Great ambiance. Very professional and no long waits. It's a very clean establishment and I love their spa services. My hair experience is why I can't give a full five. I'm sure most of the stylists are great. I think my experience was off because I was previously told I could choose what I want to do with my natural hair (curly style or straight) but upon arrival I'm told that's wrong and it needs to be straight. Ok I'll deal, not happy but I'm open because it could be great. The young lady who washed my hair gave my face a decent wash as well mistakenly. Then as she was blowing my hair out she was rough, finally I think she caught on and started holding my roots as she brushed. My hair is thick and tightly curled, very kinky but I've had it pressed several times. This press was less than I expected from the reviews. My hair was still pretty puffy and I had to go home and run thru it with a flat iron to get it to lay. I actually made an appointment for the next day to get it restyled. I'll go back for spa services but I'm not sold on the hair for thicker, kinkiest haired naturals. I will say my stylist was not one of their "natural" stylists but I booked a natural style online and was given her, "Kanye shrug". It might've just not been the best match. My mom scheduled to get my hair done for my birthday. I was scheduled with sherelle. Little did I know I would be extremely unsatisfied and let down. I was very excited to finally get my hair done since I never have the time to take care my hair. I was scheduled for a doobie wrap, growth treatment, trim and full color. Firstly, they didn't confirm what it was I was getting when I arrived. I figured they knew because my mom set up the appointment TWO days prior when she physically went in to get her own hair done. I walked in gave them my name and told them my mom scheduled it. Before they began, they told me "WE don't do doobie wraps" when TWO days prior my mom confirmed that they would provide me the service. I said fine ill get a silk press and curl. They started coloring. I asked if I would still get the hair growth treatment, they told me no because they already started coloring. How was I supposed to know the treatment is supposed to come before the color? This told me that they didnt look at what my mom scheduled me for in the computer. I was already disappointed. Once the color and blow drying was finish sherell starts curling my hair. I said I guess my hair doesnt need a trim. She stops & looks surprised and said do you want me to trim it after she already started curling my hair. I told her to forget it because I didnt feel like her having to comb the curls out and trying to find the correct length to start trimming. She already lost my trust because obviously she didnt look at what I was schedule for or JUST DIDNT CARE. My hair did not even get a silk press. Its frizzy and ugly! And its my birthday! I will never go back and will not recommend this place. What is the point in having a computer to put what people are scheduled to have if YOU DONT USE IT. Ive been crying since I left and the service cost my mom 200 and something dollars! I told them I did not like my hair at all! IT WAS NOT WORTH THE PRICE FOR THE LACK OF EFFORT I RECIEVED. I scheduled with Michael (a friend gave him and several other stylists rave reviews) on Thursday for the following Friday (today). At some point I was sent a 2nd confirmation email that my appt had be reassigned to another stylist, Krystle. That should have been red flag enough for me but I have an event on Sunday and knew that unless I wanted to be a walk in at the Dominicans I might as well keep that appt. there was an almost 2hr delay due to it being a Friday night in prom season. I'll take responsibility for that oversight. My shampoo was amazing. That's the only positive thing that happened tonight. My next red flag was when the shampooer started to blow dry (for dryness not to be confused with any type of blow out). I have hip length naturally straight hair. I've gotten dry cuts before in a pinch but it's not ideal and nowhere near necessary for my hair type. Krystle finally comes to get me an hour past the scheduled end time of my appt. she was very personable and apologetic about the wait. She asked what I wanted to do (in those exact words). I told her: 1inch trim with long layers in the back and a few face framing layers up front. I've been getting resale hair cut for years. -my layers are choppy, uneven, and not blended. -she took a good 3inches off my length (which doesn't bother me too much Bc my hair is really long) which will probably go up to 5once I get it fixed. -those face framing layers start and my ducking eyebrow. My eyebrow! Also not blended in and uneven. I can't speak for the whole shop or even krystles entire skill set. But I can definitively tell u sit in that chair for a cut at your very own risk!!!!!!! 1 star is seriously to many for my experience. read more

I brought my daughter to this salon. The woman who blow dried her hair was so rough. What happened to starting from ends and making the way up to the roots? Wasn't gentle at all, especially considering she was dealing with a child. My daughter was in tears. The salon was nice and it was nice having wi-fi and snacks, but not a good trade-off for the torture my daughter endured. In addition to the terrible blow dry, the hair puffed up by the end of the day due to humidity, so my money went right down the drain. Our current stylist's work lasts for days, even with humidity. I visited Resh hair salon today for the first time. I was so impressed with the professionalism and calming atmosphere. They are very mindful of your time, so there is no wait. The young lady who shampooed my hair was amazing. She was very kind and considerate throughout the process. Then, the stylist! She was more than amazing. She listened to what I wanted and more importantly, what I did not want. She was extremely friendly and patient. I also observed some of the other stylists and the heads they turned out were fantastic. I am beyond thrilled with this place!! So happy to have finally found a salon whose atmosphere matches the quality of their service. Drinks and snacks while you wait, super friendly (and knowledgeable) staff, and an owner who you just can't help but fall in love with. Even the other customers were friendly; a trait that I have not found in any other salon I've ever been to. I told Sherell (the owner) all about the troubles I've had as a white girl with curly, frizzy hair, and also about being a natural red-head that's been bleaching to platinum for the past two years (a learning experience for some stylists, since red-heads don't typically go blonde). I've tried out several different salons (I've probably been to about 7 in the past year alone) on a desperate search for "the one". Resh understands that hair is about texture not ethnicity, and handled my delicate/highly damaged hair better than any Caucasian salon ever has. After one visit, and one helluva haircut, I'm sold. While I'd of course want to stick with the owner for future visits, I'm confident enough that if she trained her staff to do what she does then I can't imagine ever having a bad experience here. Their pricing is also incredibly reasonable: a shampoo comes with your cut; no extra charges, just great service! Sherell could easily charge more for her talents but I am so glad that she doesn't, because I might not have found this place otherwise. If you are a woman who enjoys the finer things in life and believes in supporting and building up other women and local businesses, then I cannot recommend Resh enough. I can't wait to go back!
